3.9Bottle. Color hazy orange with huge white head. Aroma malt, caramel, fruits, alcohol. Taste sweet, fruit, mellow, spicy.
3.233 Cl bottle taken in the back room of ‘tBrugs Beertje (through and past the toilets): Tom was looking after everybody back there this evening in Dec 2011.
The body was a hazy orange colour, on top a large off-white head.
Yeasty, citrusy hopped nose; tried to find pumpkin, but failed.
The taste was yeast, bread, sweetness and grapefruit flavours, tried to find pumpkin but failed; maybe that was the sweetness I got?
The beer is a little too alcoholic for its own good, being to powerful compared to the depth of flavours and body; it is found to easily and tarnishes the overall mouth feel and tasting experience.
3.8Cloudy copper body with an off white head. Sweet spicy aroma with peppermint, cinnamon, pineapple. Medium, ideally carbonated body. Very nice sweet pumpkin flavour with licorice and spices.
2.9Amber colored pour. Small white head with a little bit of lacing left behind. Sour/sweet aroma of malt and light vegetables. Smooth gourd flavor with hints of malt and sugar. Creamy mouthfeel leaves a nice sweetness behind. Not bad.
3.7Orange/golden shine with large foamy head. The taste is spicy with caramel and malts.
3.2Bottle. Slightly hazy amber/deep golden with big off-white head. Aroma is malt, yeast and fruit. Flavour is malt, yeast, spices, medium sweet, hops, caramel, phenols and medium bitter.
3.5Light copper colour. Thick, foamy head. Aroma is very yeasty, like bread dough. Flavour is yeasty at first then has some citrus. It becomes quite sweet from the pumpkin but pleasntly so. Warming alcohol finish but in no way harsh.
3.333cl bottle from my beer cellar. Aged 2 years, shared with friends.
Thin white head. Hazy amber pour. Clear alcohol taste but still another very good Smisje beer
3.4Orange colour, off-white lasting head. Some small floats. Aroma of malts, fruity hops, pronounced pumpkin and pumpkin sweetness, caramel and light yeast spiciness. Flavour is rather sweet, good malt backbone, golden raisins, yeast. Quite full body. Alcohol showing through (nice alcohol warmth) and finish rather sweet with a hint of pumpkin.
(From 33cL bottle)
3.833 cL bottle poured into a Westmalle glass. Vibrant cloudy orange with a nice head that fades quickly. Smells acidic, citrusy and spiced, its decent. Definately spiced, has toffee, caramel and bit of bitterness and a touch of sour. Sweet and hides the alcohol reasonably well. Smisje beers are always a bit different and so is this. Warming on the palate and stimulates the taste buds.
3.2(22cl bottle best by 2014 thanks to bu11zeye) cloudy orange pour with a thick soapy white head. Nose of candi sugar, very light alcohol, Belgian yeast, smells sweet and delicious. Taste of alcohol, candi sugar, agave, golden raisins and heavy on the alcohol.
3.3Perfectly balanced strong beer with a rich Belgian flavor, but lacks the pumpkin flavor. Some alcohol flavor. enjoying beer. Carbon dioxide content is high.
3.133 cl bottle.
Hazy orange colour with small lasting head. Aroma is fruity with apricot and peach, orange peel, spices, earthy notes and some soap. Flavour is spices, peach, citrus, some yeast and malts. High carbonation and the alcohol comes through too much at the end. Too sweet and unbalanced. Vertically tasted with a bottle that had leaked a bit under the cap, in favor of the leaked one. Smoother and more subtle.

3.033 cl bottle, BBE Q3/2014
Aroma is rather floury and has some stale vegetables and grain. Loads of CO2 in palate. Flavour is spicy and it gets more intensive in the aftertaste. Some vegetables and orange peel there too. Not very nice, but hides almost all of the alcohol well. I had also another bottle of this that had leaked some of its content to the transportation box - and it was better than this!
2.8330 ml bottle.
Pours a dirty orange colour with a small foamy head. Visible sediment. Aroma of some toffee, orange, spices and vegetables. Flavour of toffee, spices, vegetables and burning alcohol. Strong and hard carbonation. Medium bodied with a finish of burning alcohol and some alcohol. What a mess really and very homebrewish.
2.9Pours an unclear and dark amber beer with an offwhite head. The aroma is malt, caramel, yeast, fruit, alcohol and sweetness. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is sweetness with alcoholwarmth. Overall an average beer with a high level of alcohol.
3.7Bottle from Beers of Europe. Quite high carbonation, there was a funky bubble whirlpool for a minute or so which I don’t think I’ve seen before. Cloudy yellow with a huge white head that settles eventually. A fair amount left in the bottle as it became a bit chunky. Aroma is quite vegetal / herbal with pumpkin and candy sugar notes. Flavours of pumpkin, grassy hops, candy sugar, and barley. Quite creamy finish with some CO2 prickle. Alcohol is fairly present. A quite enjoyed this but I do like pumpkin beers in general.
3.3Pours dark amber with a beige head. Aroma is caramel, alcohol, plum and raisin. Flavour is caramel, heavy alcohol, raisin, yeast and light nuts.
3.0330ml bottle served at ‘t Brugs Beertje. Cloudy, dark orange body. Creamy, white head. Spiced fruity nose. Honey sweetness, ripe fruits, lactose, and pumpkin in flavour. Rather heavy to drink, but quite alright, though (Brugge, 03.05.2011).
2.7Bottle (33 cl) from the Cracked Kettle. Shady orange, medium white head. Fruity almond aroma, strong alcoholic notes, some vegetables (pumpkins appearantly). Full bodied, moussy carbonation. Semi dry, medium bitterness.
2.233 cl bottle thanks to ekstedt! Sampeld on May 25, 2011
BB Q3/2014
Cloudy orange color, big lasting creamy off-white head. Intense smell of closed up cheese scent, and I don’t like cheese...
Also loads of alcohol, some malt and a spinyness in the back.
Spicy, alcohol, sweet, fruity, cheese taste. Numbing alcohol mouthfeel, also moussy. Low bitterness.
2.8330ml bottle thanks to bu11zeye.
Cloudy golden color with a foamy off-white head. The pic is actually from our tasting - your can tell this one was a gusher! Aromas of spice, wheat, and cardboard. Flavors of squash/pumpkin (definitely some sort of gourd) and grains.
2.6Bottle. Pours a hazy yellow/amber with an off-white head. Tart, sweetish and yeasty aroma. Flavour is sweet, yeasty, dusty and tart. Tart, alcoholic finish. Too much carbonation. Nothing special. 17.03.11.
3.1pours hazy golden with off-white head. Aroma of bread, sweeter malts, honey and some caramel. Taste is caramel, weak hops, warming alcohol and some ripe fruits.
3.5(330ml bottle) Pours a hazy golden body with a moderate off-white head. Aroma of pepper, orange pulp, yeast, slight oxidation, and pumpkin. Flavor of squash, pumpkin, pepper, toasted grain, subtle sulfur, and candi sugar.
2.9Bottle courtesy bu11zeye. Opened as a big gusher. Cloudy golden orange color. Foamy white head. Aroma is light wheat, banana and lemon citrus. Bready aroma as well. Flavor is grainy, sharp bitter and slight smoke. Finishes fruity and sugary.
3.1Orange colour and unclear. Has a white head, mostly lasting. Aroma is sweet, red fruit, berries, lots of carbonation. Sweet flavor, some spicy notes, a bit astringent, moderate bitter finish. Lively carbonation.
3.5citrus, grass, golden, clear, white foam, light sweetness, lightly bitter, lightly sour, medium body, creamy, soft carbonation, long finish.
3.6330ml bottle (Bruges Bertje)
7 Lovely toffee sweetness, simple light malts. Touch of banana
4 Rich orange, slightly hazy, brief fluffy head settles to a ring
7 Retronasals initially honeyish, but segue to liquorice quickly. Very complex taste for a blond - everything from the aromas and retronasals stays, and they sit above a healthy herby malt body. With more yeast, it’s much grainier.
4 Finish extremely liquoricey, unbelievably so for a light ale
14 definitely strong, but not boozy. Softened and more toffee-ey with more yeast in, that’s recommended.
2.4Bottle from cracked kettle cons 2011-01-04
AR: yeasty, overripe citrus fruits (on the the edge to be rotten)
AP: hazy amber, 4 cm high fizzy bone white head, slowly dimishing leaving some bits of foam
F: strong yeasty flavor - hard to detect anyting else, to much. Great bitterness, black peppar spiced pumpkin soup, mucho dry finish, not my kind of brew, perhaps a bit infected???
