A delicious dark ale with an intriguing roasty character. It is rich and flavorful with a hint of bittersweet chocolate.

3.7Black pour with a tan head.
Rich aroma of chocolate, roast malt, coffee.
Rich flavor that follows the aroma. Some dryness in the finish.
Very nice.
3.3very little head. Smell is malty. The strength is in the taste, malty, coffee, some chocolate. Not bad.
3.4Bottle. Slightly sweet chocolate malt and roasty nutty malt. Smells more like a good brown ale than a porter. Deep chestnut with a small beige head. Chocolate, caramel, and a little charred malt flavor. Medium body, soft carbonation. Not really to style, but still very enjoyable.
3.5Dark brown pour, light head. Aroma...you can tell it’s a porter. Nice roasted malts. Taste is more roasted malt than caramel.
3.3A-heavy dark roasted malt smell.
T-rich roasted malt taste with enough sweetness to just almost take the edge off. Slightly bitter aftertaste with a heavy toasted Cheerios taste. Slight bitter aftertaste. Would love to have a huge chocolate brownie with this!
3.2Bottle. Poured a nearly opaque dark brown color with orange highlights. The head was thin and light brown. Subdued, but pleasant, chocolate and cinnamon in the nose. Light to medium bodied and slightly sweet with flavors following the nose. Simple but nice.
4.0Roasted, smoky flavor. The color of black cough syrup. Small head, caramel hints.
3.6Color is dark brown, nice lace aroma Is sweet, taste is chocolate caramel brandy oak taste, semi sweet light hops heavy malt. This one is good, but light for a porter..
2.712 oz bottle pours a hazy brown with a very thin tan head. Aroma is the roasted malts. Taste is the malt with a sweet finish.
2.7Pours dark brown, no head, Appropriate roasty aromas. Initially taste is roast, and bitter, with sweetening kicking in on aftertaste. Mold character that grows, not impossible to get through, but not endearing either. So-so porter, thin mouthfeel. Thanks jason B.
3.312 oz bottle at Copper Cellar, Knoxville. Pours brown with an off-white head and a lot of carbonation. Aroma is of dark chocolate, brown sugar and hints of dark fruit. Medium-light, crisp body. Taste is similar to aroma. Finish is sweet, pleasantly chocolaty. Light, easy drinking, nothing special porter.
3.1Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Appearance is brown with amber highlights and a thin, whitish head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is sweet chocolates and malted milk balls. Taste is a creamy coffee with hints at chocolate and nuts. Mouthfeel is thin and flat and finish is long with a nutty aftertaste. Overall its a bit average.
2.5A brown porter with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet murkey chocolate, light coffee, not bad. In mouth, a sweet nutty chocolate with off notes. On tap at Calhoun’s on the River, Oct. 22 2011.
3.0tuckaleechee porter on tap at smb gatlinburg 7/13/11
Pale orange porter color.
A+F molasses, roast, nutty, lactose, raisins, peppery spice.
A little sweet. If it were drier it would prolly be delish. 6/3/5/3/13
2.4On tap in PF, Oct 2011. Pours clear brown with lasting tan head. Chocolate and fruity sweet aroma, similar in taste with a hint of smoke. Overly sweet for a porter - the extreme chocolate tries to save it but falls short.
3.0Had on tap at Gatlinburg locale. Pours a clear dark brown that you can still see through with small tan head. Aroma very faint, sweet with tad of roastiness. Flavor medium body sweet baking chocolate. Like most of their beers, this one lacked aroma, was decent tasting, but nothing special.
4.0On Tap in Gatlinburg, From notes. A gentlemen at a local liquor store in Gatlinburg was hyping up this beer so I had to try it. He was right this is a damn good porter. Roasted chocolate and coffee. =)
3.4On tap at Calhoun’s, Knoxville (riverside location) as Calhouns Tuckaleechee Porter on 9 July 2006. Deer red/brown colour. In common with some of the other beers, this was served too cold to pick up much aroma. Good sharpish flavour with some bitter chocolate. Not the fullest or smoothest Porter but pretty decent.
3.5Draft in Gatlinburg. A dark brown pour with a thin tan head. Scent is dark chocolate and sweet caramel. Taste is the same with a little bitterness and a hint of smoke. Probably the best beer at this location at this time.
2.6Appearance: deep blacks and burnt browns. Khaki head retreats into a collar with blotchy foam splattered through the middle. Swirls with a bit of improvement.
Nose: roasted up front with clean medium bitterness. Tar rounds the edges into dark pitted fruits; prunes, figs, and dates. Chocolate covered raisins. Chocolate cake, moist not dry.
Palate: smooth, clean, and rather rich. Chocolate long in the breath. Chocolate covered raisins, dates, and prunes in the middle for some chewy weight. Tar along the edges and in the back; faint. Moist chocolate cake. Dark fruits dominate the middle while all others dapple along the edges and underneath.
Final Thoughts: a solid porter and out of all the Smoky Mountain Brewery beers Jer and Jamie gifted me with, the most flavorful and balanced.
3.3Dark pour with a small head. Taste of roasted cherries and a hint of chocolate. Very sweet.
3.7Appearance: Pours a dark brown body with a thinnish, beige-hued head.
Smell: Aroma of dark malts yielding notes of coffee and chocolate cookies with a light, underlying earthy presence and minor hints of dark fruitiness.
Taste: Tuckaleechee gets a choco-coffee start with the cookies following close behind. Medium sweetness throughout. Small touch of dark fruits. Thin hint of bitterness, though no apparent hop flavors. Smooth, malty finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel.
Drinkability: While it’s definitely not the most audacious, grandest porter to be had, it’s still a pleasant, malt-forward ale with a good ease of drinkability.
3.4tasting on 5/8/10. pours a light black with a small off white head... sugary, licorice candy nose... very sweet. medium body with more sweetness... slight roast finish. Overall this beer is lacking the roasted malts that I prefer... very interesting and unique Porter.
2.9Draft at brewpub in PF. Pours black with thick tan head. Aroma of roasted malt. Taste is dominated by roasted malt with light notes of chocolate.
3.4A must try at the SM Brewery, this porter is solid. A roasted malt and chocolate nose seeps from a black body and thin, tan lacing head. A coffee heavy flavor and slight fruitiness does justice to the style and a more substance than water body complements this exceptional beer.
2.8Had on tap at the brewery in Pigeon Forge TN, came a dark amber with medium creamy head. Has some coffee/mocha flavors. Not too bad for a TN attempt on a porter
2.9Deep brown that is nearly black with a light brown sugar colored head. The nose is light roasted coffee with some hints of blueberries and black walnut cake. The taste was lightly roasted coffee that has been sweetened with some sugar. Notes of burnt wood along with a little hint of lime citrus at the finish. Overall, it is decent, but the fruity finish threw the package off for me.
3.3bottled. "A delicious dark ale with an intriguing roasty character. It is rich and flavorful with a hint of bittersweet chocolate. " -exactly. A tad watery but still tasty.
2.8Some sort of glaring flaw, it could have been just this batch... I’m wondering if the brewmaster even tasted it, as it was terrible. Perhaps the lines weren’t cleaned the night before or something as well.
Re-taste via lithy from a 12oz bottle! 8/21/10. Dark black pour, not quite opaque, absolutely no head... what’s with these guys? Light sour chocolate aroma, sour chocolate taste with a huge bitter finish. Not nearly as horrible as when I had it on tap at the brewery, but not great. My rating went up 1.6!
3.3Not a bad porter, sweet, roasted. easy to drink. Nothing terribly standout about it, but then again nothing horrid to report about it. I wouldn’t get it again because i’m not a huge fan of porters, but if i was i think it would be a good choice at this place.
