This lip-smacking dark ale is mellow and malty. The aroma is reminiscent of bittersweet dark chocolate and the caramel and roast malt flavors are exceptionally smooth. Medium bodied, with a slightly sweet edge but a dry finish.

ChrisO’s Pre GBBF ’Are You Scottish?’ tasting. Opaque dark brown beer, little pale tan head. Light dry palate. Mildly minerally crisp. Mellow dark malt, touch of roast. Light dry finish. Simple but fine.
3.2Bottle at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2013. It pours very dark brown with a small beige head. The nose is roasty, cocoa, toast, caramel and earth. The taste is roasted malt, toast, earth, spice, dried fruits, chocolate and coffee with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Fine, if a little uneventful.
3.4Bottle at Chris O’s pre-GBBF shindig, 2013. Black pour with a tan head. Chocolate, licorice and toffee aroma. Licorice, sweet malt and a little coffee flavour. Not bad.
3.0At Chriso pre GBBF Shindig 2013. Black beer lasting thick tan head. Chocolate sponge on the aroma. Bit thin. Ok chocolate but thin after the aroma.
3.6Draft at the source. This is a decently roasty, medium bodied porter, fairly true to the London style.
3.9Had this beer poured from draft at Taphouse Grill in Seattle. Coffee and chocolate with nutty back. Smooth and perfect for this style.
4.0Black pour with a 3 dimensional tan head.
Rich fragrant roast malt aroma. Coffee chocolate.
Rich flavor that follows the aroma. Roasty chocolate and coffee.
2.9From the October 2012 3R6P tasting. +++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with an incredibly huge foamy brown head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was sour and malty anise, vanilla and cream. The flavor was bitter, sour and malty with notes of anise, wood, cherry and a burnt undertone. Medium length bitter, sour and malty anise finish. Way overcarbonated. Ok.
3.0April 3rd, 2010 - I’ve never been to Snoqualmie. All I know about the place is that somewhere in that hallowed, mystical land comes my favorite brand of ice cream. It’s a thick, decadent, gut busting treat, and I think when I bought a bottle of the Snoqualmie Falls Stream Train Porter, I had something of a rich, dairy association in mind. But it’s nice to try a brewery I’ve never unheard of before. If the distributor is giving it a chance, then so should the drinker. The Steam Train Porter pours with a very black body, showing no brown coloration around its edges, maybe an almost ethereal ring of oak brown somewhere near the top. The smell is fresh and rich, like cream, accented by dry woody notes and a solid maltiness. There’s also a touch of chocolate, but it’s light, and content to stand off to the side as a supporting actor. The flavor is much simpler, sacrificing much of the appeal I caught in the nose. It’s a bright porter, relying on lighter malts, with some simple, pedestrian chocolate flavor and a regular maltiness I find in lots of other normal, drinkable but middling porters. It has a fine consistency, but because of how generic it tastes, I think this might be better spent with a meal or a snack - perhaps some ice cream?
3.5Half gallon growler fill sampled approx 30 minutes after visiting the brewery. Pours a dark brown-black, some very deep ruby-like highlights when held up to the light and a thick dark beige cap of foam. Aroma is of roast, the blackish scent of dark roasted barley, some notes of deep cocoa and no hop presence. Smooth roasted flavor with faint notes of dark cocoa powder, coffee, and a little light toffee. Bitterness balances well and is smooth. The carbonation helps clean up the finish. At 5% ABV this is one of the few sessionable Porters out there since the trend is heading toward the over 6% range.
4.2Aroma is coffee, dark dried fruit and a hint of chocolate. A dark brown pour with a mostly diminishing tan head and no lacing. The taste is rich! Chocolate, coffee, sweet malts, a hint of dark fruit. Medium-to-full bodied and minimal carbonation. Overall, this is a a wondrously rich tasty Porter. Want to have again. Delicious!
3.6Tap @ Taphouse Grill. Nice head with good duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are roast malt, chocolate, coffee, notes of vanilla and hops.
3.6Tap @ Taphouse Grill, Seattle. Dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is all coffee and chocolate. Flavor is rich chocolate malt, coffee and sweet caramel malt. Medium body with mild carbonation and a smooth mouth feel. Great porter.
3.322oz bomber at a tasting. dark brown color with minimal head. aroma is nice and malty with hints of chocolate and caramel...the flavor is quite smooth this is a medium bodied porter with flavors of chocolate hints of coffee and caramel. wish there was more of this one.
3.6Sample at the Tap House Grill in Seattle. The beer is a brownish-black color with a medium tan head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Light to medium body with a sweet roasty character and notes of chocolate and mild coffee. The finish is charred malt and coffee. Decent overall.
3.6Bomber. Pours an opaque black color with substantial light brown foam. Plenty of unsweetened chocolate, roast malt and coffee in the aroma. The flavor has a good deal of smoky roasted malt and espresso at the start along with some dark chocolate, caramel and citrusy hops bitterness at the end. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with strong carbonation and a dry, bittersweet finish. The overall flavor is smooth and balanced with the right amount of coffee, chocolate and roastiness.
2.8Tap @ Parkway. Deep brown pour with ruby highlights and a short tan head with good retention and leaving minimal lace. Nose is chocolate with a hint of cinnamon developing as it warms. Light body with moderate carbonation. Baking chocolate, toffee, pumpernickel and slightly tart. Finish is medium, bitter and chocolatey without much sweetness. Too light, not very complex.
3.6650ml bottle pours a dark brown color with about 2 fingers of off-white head that settles to some nice lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate and a touch of fruit. Taste is malty sweetness with a hint of chocolate and a fruitiness and a light hoppy bitter finish. A very nice porter with a medium body and light carbonation which left a nice mouthfeel. A treasure to enjoy.
3.4dark brown pour from malt and vine with very light brown head. cocoa, chocolate flavors and malty after taste. overall ok from a average brewer
3.8Bottle, shared with JJ. Heavy looking dark brown pour with a slow-to-form light brown head. This beer looks bigger and denser than I was expecting! Aroma is very nice, lots of chocolate, some coffee, some dark fruits (cherries?). Nicely flavoured malty palate with bitter chocolate, coffee, dark caramel, and dark fruit essence that contributes a slight acidity. Medium to full bodied, despite the lower ABV. Smooth creamy mouthfeel. A nice surprise!
2.7Draught@Taproom Grill, Downtown Seattle
Dark almost opaque brown color, small steady creamy beige head. Light toasted notes. Light-bodied. Flavor is slightly tart. Roasted malts, coffee and caramel. Light and maybe not in top condition.
3.3Sampler @ Chuck’s. Totally solid porter. All the right aromas that make me want to drag a pint out over a long night at the pub. One drawback was too much carbonation. The other was too little flavor. Washed out in the finish, but then sometimes I forget the difference between porters and stouts.
3.4Bomber at Boxley’s. Pours a dark brown with moderate brown foam. Thin bodied, but roasty and ending with a dry bitterness.
4.0Bottle thanks to 5000. Pours black with tan head. Nose is rich dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla and roasted malts. Taste is fresh brewed coffee, roasted malts, some burnt chocolate malts and vanilla. Semi dry finish.
5.01PT. 6oz Bottle. Pours black with minimal frothiness. Hints of chocolate, coffee and....cereal? Bitterness is medium and lightly sour. Taste is very lively and the finish long and tasty. Very Good...highly recommend.
3.9Black with mahogany edges, creamy brown head. Aroma of nut, chocolate, toffee, coffee, very rich and roasty. Taste is also very rich, lots of bitterness, some malty/coffee, some from hops it seems. Creamy texture, medium carbonation. Very nice and flavorful. And a great value at 3.59
3.722oz bomber purchased from Liquid Solutions
Appearance: murky brown with mocha head. Some retention and lacing.
Smell: quite nutty with some roastyness.
Taste: nujt up front, roasted malt in the middle, touch of sweetness in the finish.
Mouthfeel: A touch syrupy for my liking, but just a touch.
Drinkability: Would have scored higher if the mouthfeel was thinner.
Very nice porter indeed. Worth trying.

3.0Bottle sampled at Bottleworks, pours black with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malts. Flavour is similar - fairly standard porter, medium-body, nice coffee finish.
