3.9 November 2011. 22 oz. bottle. Big and bold IPA. Amber color, hops, citrus and floral aromas. Caramel, hops, and floral flavors, Plenty of hops on the finish.
3.9 Draft at the source. Hazy amber color, white head. Nice floral aroma. Beautiful fruity and balanced taste.
3.6 Had this beer poured from draft at Taphouse Grill in Seattle. This is a hop monster as the description says. Orange bubbly look. Loose head. My pallette is tainted from too many previous IPA
3.4 Indeed a balanced attack. Tons of breadiness and sweetness. Dank citrusy and bitter hops.
3.1 22 oz bomber thanks to michaelinwa. Poured slightly hazy amber into a perfect pint glass. Aroma of hay, and citrusy hops. Very bitter on the tongue, more grass and pine. Harsh finish. Decent IPA, but wouldn’t seek this one out again.
3.4 Pours a clear golden orange from the bottle with a thin ring of white lacy head. Aroma of the hops, slight pine, mostly citrus funk. Taste is more malt balanced with a bitter finish. Pretty solid but nothing special.
3.6 Bottle from mcberko! Pours orange with no head. Aroma is bitter citrus and floral hops with matching flavor. Solid.
3.2 22oz bottle courtesy of khoffman thanks Kyle! A nice orange beer with a massive head and orange burnt nut taste, bitter finish and well balanced
3.7 Draft. Pale gold color (not quite amber), clear, white head with good retention. Aroma is pine, citrus, and the garlic fries I just had. Damn they were potent. Some caramel maltiness as well (aside: autocorrect sucks hard - manitees? Malting ng? Wtf). Taste: floral, pine, nice bitterness but not overpowering. Good light, subtle sweet backbone to balance. Medium body, nice carbonation, lasting bitter finish that isn't overpowering. Overall: this is my kind of ipa.
3.7 22oz bottle picked up at JB’s Appearance: Pours clear golden with a medium sized frothy off-white head and lots of sticky lacing Aroma: Mild caramel, earthy and citrus Taste: Citrus, caramel, grapefruit and spicy pine A nice bitter IPA, well balanced.
3.7 8oz sample at the Taphouse Grill. Pours orangey-copper with a white head. Aroma has pine and flowery hops with citrus and some caramel. Taste is of pine needles, flowery spices, grapefruit with some caramel back. Finishes bittersweet. A bit rough and the pieces do not come together as well as they sound.
3.7 Shiny and clear gold with a large pale blonde head, falls quietly into the glass. Intense, earthy nose. Medium body but intense flavor, good length. Very bitter but well balanced with malt. Grapefruit pith, savoury taste.
3.3 Pours a copper gold with a thick white head. Aroma of bitter hops, reminds me of homebrew hop pellets. Taste follows but the malt comes in strong. Balanced malt and hops. Not over the top in body, pretty easy to drink. Not as bitter as I'd like but it was really cool for what it is.
3.8 It has a bright orange colored body, looks thin, with a bright white head. It has an aroma of slightly stanky hops and is bold, solid and thick. It’s more bitter at a warmer temperature, but easy to drink, strongly hopped late in the boil, and has barely enough caramel to handle the bitterness and thinness of the beer. Still, thin and potent.
3.7 On tap at the Crab House in Port Angeles. Pours golden orange with white head. Citrus, hoppy aroma. Nice balance of citrus, bitterness, and hoppiness.
4.4 A very delicious IPA. I had a sample platter and all there beers are great. Especially the Hefe. I bought one bomber to take home. I wish I had bought more.
3.6 Tap @ Taphouse Grill, Seattle. Nice head with good duration. Color is amber. Aroma and taste are grass, hops, pine, caramel, flowers and malt.
3.2 Tap @ Taphouse Grill, Seattle. Hazy amber with a dense, creamy head that leaves some lacing. Aroma of sweet caramel, citrus and bubble gum. Flavor is very sweet with a ruff bitterness. Medium body with a muddy texture. This could be old, overly sweet with an old hop flavor, ugh.
4.1 Tap - Good hoppy nose, copper color, nice lace. Palate had malt and hops, too bitter a back end
3.6 Received in a recent trade. The problem with getting IPA’s that aren’t dated is that this one may have been slightly old, not too old, but the weeklong shipping in the heat of the summer certainly can’t help. Nice dark orange color and a very solid hoppy nose. A very large frothy head on an average pour. The malt comes through a little more than I expect in the flavor. Not a bad beer, but certainly not something better than I could get fresh locally. I would guess if I had this at the brewpub it would be excellent.
2.1 Pours with ample head, low uninteresting aroma (rare for an IPA). Taste is almost entirely bitter hop flavor and without anything at all interesting. Unfortunately this IPA does separate itself from the pack, but it does it by being less than mediocre.
3.6 Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a tulip. My pour is a dark golden orange color, with a slight haze that informs me it was bottle conditioned. The aroma has a medium to strong bitterness, with a floral bouquet, some grapefruit pith, and a lingering earthiness. From the first sip on there is a nice, building bitterness that incorporates a few different flavors. Some juicy grapefruit hops also seem to have a starkly bitter grapefruit rind flavor to accompany them. Mainly the flavor is a strong, resiny, earthy hop flavor, with a lightly spicy pine presence in the background. Although not immediately noticeable, a caramel malt presence works into the mix without ever becoming very sweet. The finish is fairly clean. There is a definite balance between juicy and dry hops, and the malt only slightly tilts this balance with the sweetness. On the other hand, even though it is moderately dry, the body is on the full side, and there is a full, rich, creamy carbonation. There is a generous amount of hop oil left on my tongue after each sip. This is a solid offering from a brewery I was not previously familiar with.
3.9 Bomber. Reddish orange and gold colored in appearance with a solid 2 inches of sea foam head. Lots of grapefruit, pine and herbal hops in the aroma along with some biscuit malt notes in the background. The hops dominate the flavor at the start with a strong dose of citrus rind, pineapple and hops resin. The malt backbone has a lightly toasted, nutty quality to it. Toward the end there’s a bit of honey and orange peel. The mouthfeel is well-carbonated with a creamy body and clean, herbal finish. Balanced Hop Monster is about right.
3.8 On tap at Taphouse in Seattle. Pours hazy amber. Nice fruity citrus tones, tropical fruit, along with pine sap. Very decent with more malt than expected as well. Almost tastes like a IIPA. I would definitely have this again. Highly recommended!
4.6 Really piney aroma to start with. Pours pretty light with a lot of lacing. It’s a really crisp and piney flavors, so much that I was surprised that the IBU count was only 75. One of my favorite IPAs.
3.6 Thanks to 5000 for sending me this bottle. Drank fresh back in March 2011. The beer pours an orange color with a white head. The aroma is very nice. I get a ton of tropical fruit with a lot of mangoes, papaya and oranges. I also get some nice bready notes from the malt. The flavor is also fruity. I get some pineapple, papaya and orange notes. The bready malt keeps the bitterness fairly low, even though the beer has a lot of hop flavor. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
3.7 Bottle from a trade with 5000. Pours clear orangish color with off white head. Aromas of grapefruit rind and caramel malts. Bitter grapefruit rind flavor with a touch of sweet maltiness. Medium body with lively carbonation. Thanks Andre.
2.5 A: The pour is dark orange in color with a white head. S: Like so many of the other Northwestern IPAs I’ve tried, there is a bland hop character. Straw and grass with a bit of pine and lemon. Still a pretty decent bread and toast note with some sweet caramel. T: Sweet toffee, bread, and caramel. Straw, grass, and lemon hop flavors with just a bit of pine and a moderate bitterness. There’s a bit of pine-sol to it, too. M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation. O: Boring hop profile with lots of sweetness.
3.7 22 oz from PCC Redomnd WA....The aroma has citrus fruits ok body. it poured like a golden oragne color. overall very hoppy and nice touch to UFC 134
3.9 Bottle. Hazy burnt orange pour with a white head. Citrusy hop aromas. Well balanced with mild fruity/citrusy hops and sturdy malt backbone. Re-rate on tap: (bottle 3.8)
