3.8 Can. Clear pale gold with a dense white head. Punchy, direct aroma of grapefruit, lime, some mango skin, bread. Dryish with lots of fruit - maybe leans more to tropical than suggested by the aroma - and medium high bitterness. It's very clean and the malt does little even to support, so it seems a little pointy at the end. But I quibble, it's very good.
4.7 From a can to a glass! Pours a light hazy yellow color with a huge frothy creamy silky head. Aroma is cracker malts upfront with a nice tropical citrusy hop character. Really com-plex tasty Ipa! Medium mouthfeel. Awesome Beer!
3.9 Can from Bine & Vine. Pours clear, bright gold with a white head. Aroma has a bit of tropical - mango - and some citrus notes. Med body. Flavor has citrus/pine and mango with some roasty malt in support. Pretty dry. Quite bitter. Very clean.
4.0 Perfect Summer IPA. Lots of fruity notes, nice piney back bite. FInishes chalky but good

3.4 July 16th, 2015 - The Pupil is a classic of Societe's line up, and like many of the other non-dark entries it is a little neon in its colors. There's some fresh melon on the nose and a bit of cracker, but a tad bland on the tongue. It enjoys a soft and cloudy palate, and gets a little more extroverted in the aftertaste where I catch notes of marijuana and a touch of lemonade. Even a little salty, like a nose. And each sip helps to clarify the flavor significantly, and bettering it too. It is almost like a cross between a pale ale and a cream ale by the end, which is, at the very least, curious.
3.4 On tap @Ma che siete venuti a fà (Rome). Oro carico, limpida, schiuma bianca media, molto persistente. Al naso note agrumate, fruttate, limone, broccolo cotto. In bocca ha una chiusura amara decisa, lunga e persistente, leggera ossidazione, radice. Corpo medio, carbonazione media. Non freschissima.
3.6 On tap at Draft Republic in Carlsbad. Standard IPA pour. Very bitter citrus & other tangy fruits. Grapefruit zest. Really diving into classic 'West Coast' style. Finishes bitter. Not enough good flavors to balance to strong bitterness. 13.5
4.3 Wow. Hazy, but clean look. Light citrus smell. Crisp, clean sharp taste. Sweet after. The first time I’ve been so happy with a new IPA in some time.
3.8 City Beer, SF. White small head, juicy foggy yellow orange. Fresh citrus nose. Sip is bright, fairly crisp. Very nice sip. Clean snappy bitterness under citrus nectar. Nose is orange juice with a hint of pine. Really nice.
3.3 Pours a pale chalky golden color with white head. Funky dry hop aroma. Light bodied, dry hoppy, some pineapple notes. Didn't love this one...need to re-visit. Notes: on tap at the brewery (older note from SD visit)
3.3 Draft - Light grass and juicy citrus. Clear gold with a rich white head. Pithy, citrus and a bitter dry finish.
3.7 Draught at City Beer SF. Golden color, white head. Bitter taste with grapefruit, hops, pine, a bit of resin and mango. Bitter finish with grapefruit, hops, pine, a bit of resin and mango. Very nice IPA.
3.9 Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow on tap with fluffy white head that dissipates to leave good lace. Aroma of dank, resinous hops, some nice citrus and new world zesty notes, all over a clean malt base. Taste follows, hop forward for sure, with enough malt to balance the bitterness and provide the slight booze. Very nicely done.
3.8 On tap at Hops & Pie. Clear golden colored appearance with a lacy white head. Aroma of spruce, citrus fruit and light resinous hops. Similar flavor, zesty, piney and moderately bitter with a touch of malt sweetness. Medium body with a dry feel and a lingering bitter finish. Nice.
3.6 Tap at The Mayor. Golden pour with a white head. Piney hops, with a hint of fruit. Pretty harsh hop bite.
4.2 On tap at Bottlecraft, Little Italy, San Diego. Pours cloudy golden with white head. Good lacing. Great dank aroma, some herbal grassy notes, lasting bitter finish. Medium bodied.
4.2 Draft at the source. Clearish yellow color. Aroma of white wineand lemon. Taste is lightly bitter vinous citrus. Very tasty.
4.1 (On tap @ Societe, April 3/17) Pours hazy medium gold with a fine white head and nice lace. Aroma of juicy orange, mango, leafy, papaya, florals, light resin. Flavour is pretty juicy, papaya, orange, white grapefruit, some floral tropical fruit notes, a bit of dank resin, slightly sweet pale malt. Medium-high bitterness in the middle to back end, resin, leafy, some grapefruit pith. Medium body for style with pretty soft carb. Really nice stuff, the bitterness is more assertive than some modern beers but the fruity quality is rich and juicy.
4.1 Pours clear straw somemhead lots of lacing. Nose is pine. Flavours are dank, pine some grapefruit. Taste big bitter light sweet. Full sticky body lively carbonation.
4.0 Tap@city beer: first mistake: I drunk this after I swallow SARAby which it was overshadowed. Pours almost clear, slightly hazy golden color with tiny white head. Aroma: citruses, e pecially grapefruit, some pine, lychee, mango, papaya.. Flavor is similar with intense hop profile, moderate, biscuit like malt flavor. Finish is dry bitter & lingers in aftertaste. Body is moderate, texture soft, carbonation is medium.
3.8 On tap at the brewery. Cloudy yellow pour. Aroma of citrus and citrus pith. Flavor is citrus pith, nectarine, some onion, and high bitterness.
4.0 Sample at Gabf. Pours a hazy yellow with small white head that lasts. The aroma is strong citrus and grass. Medium body, juicy hop, citrus, dank, light bitterness, very nice.
4.7 Oh, SD. Is there any limit to your tasty IPA’s? Evidently not. The Pupil’s hoppy gifts are complex and endlessly juicy. Gold color. Vibrant, fruity aromatics. Leafy, grassy, floral, and fruity. Bubblegum, apricot, peach, mango, lavender, and vinous grape hop qualities. Refreshing mineral finish and a lingering bitterness.
3.7 Lightly hazy golden with a thin white cap. Lovely grassy and lightly piney nose that’s a touch peppery and pale malty. Crisp delightful flavor that’s pale malty but pops with grassy and leafy bitter hops and a bright pithy bitterness. Bready though bitter and resiny.
