3.4 Pours rich golden color with a bit of haze and a couple of fingers of foam. The nose has some nice floral notes, honey, belgian yeast and bread dough. The mouthfeel is round and a touch sticky with lots of sweet malt and floral grassy notes... touch of added complexity brought in by the yeast esters but nothing too exciting.
3.8 bottle shared by derek, thanks! pours hazy chestnut orange with a frothy white head that dissipates to the edge and leavy a soapy film throughout. nose is resin and straw hops with a rosey flower top that makes it quite perfume-y. taste is similar. light, refreshing rosewater with a hint of bitter straw hope to balance. yes, i am a girl... that MAY have something to do with why i am loving this floral light brew.
3.6 Bottle thanks to a trade. Pours a near clean earthy orange with a near white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of grass and hay with a touch of flora and a good amount of chamomile. Flavor has more light fruit with a bit of sweet flora and a strong chamomile note as well.
3.3 A - pours hazy golden orange with 2 finger very long lasting head. S - very malty aromas up front. Yeasty and mineraly. Some floral and sweet fresh citrus notes. M - creamy mf. Average palate. Lingering sweet malty end with some alcohol warmth. T - malty brew. Bready and caramel malts are muddled together with strong yeasts stronger citrus. Sweet, malt heavy brew with some hop profile. The floral notes are lost in the maltiness. Citrus and malt heavy. O - not at all what I had hoped. 3.2
3.6 Poured from a 750 ml Corked and Caged bottle. Hazy straw color with a white head of foam. Aroma is very floral and dry. All the flowers really stand out here. Taste is very dry and floral. Can’t get past that. A little more complexity could help this beer.
3.7 Hazy light yellow with a white head. Aroma is ginger, floral and wheat. Flavor is wheat, ginger, oranges and vanilla. Medium carbonation and medium mouthfeel.
3.9 750ml bottle from Roy’s Ft. Pierce. Aroma is floral and ome hints of citrus, slightly on the sweet side. Taste is sweet forward, light on the floral. Very interesting palate, hard to isolate flavors, but do detect hints of lavender and citrus. Very interesting. Enjoyed!
3.1 750mL bottle, pours a cloudy, murky brownish orange with a small white head. Aroma is almost that of a cider, tart apples, tons of flowers, some tartness, very interesting. Flavour is quite tart, with sour apple cider, more fruity than floral, though the flowers no doubt create these flavours, and a slight vinegary character. Finishes slightly tart and fruity. What a weird beer this is - kind of fun, though containing none of the traditional saison characteristics - not rustic, funky, yeasty or anything. A fun experiment, but becomes quite difficult to drink after a while.
4.0 Bomber. Split with me. Pours dark hazy golden. Nose is lavender, lemon, honey, orange. Taste is lavender up front, with lemon and honey - almost like a Ricola, vanilla, caramel.
4.0 14th November 2009 7.7% Bottle. Cloudy amber beer. Light lemon and flowers nose. Quite low carbonation in the light palate. A little dry. Sweet complex beer. There is a light perfume sweetness from the various flowers and a bitterish aftertaste I think from the Lavender. The chamomile and rose are seamlessly blended. Finishes neutral palate with more floral sweetness. Unique and highly enjoyable.
3.6 Bottle sampled at Ottawa tasting #2. Hazy gold with a generous enough white head. Cardomon, lemon zest, light pepper, ginger, grains, oddly a bit of rosemary (nose might have been off by this point though), some honey and a earthy undertone. Medium body and moderate carbonation, felt light compared to the ABV but it was quite nice, little dry at the end and the floral and spice notes linger on the palate. Glad I got to try this.
3.8 Poured from a 750ml bottle. A cloudy straw color. Lots of herbal and spicy notes. A soft tartness that helps showcase the floral and herbal character of this beer. I liked this beer very much.
4.1 750 ml bottle from michael-pollack- thanks again, Pollack! Pours a hazy yellow-gold with a huge rocky eggshell head that leaves heavy lace. Floral notes, sweet bready malts, lemon, grass, toast, and earth. Medium-bodied, with a mildly spicy, floral, clean mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Really nice saison, right up my alley.
3.8 Bottle with a big thanks to phaleslu. Notes of dry toasted grass, soft rain, forest. Nice. Earthy, herbal, soft, clean saison. Nice.
2.6 Bottle. I have looked forward to this for a while as it waited in the cellar. The pour is a slightly hazy orange with a pretty decent head. Aromas are a little off-putting, with a lot of floral and spicy tones and a heavy handed sweetness. Flavor is an odd mess that just isn’t for me. A hot mess of alcohol, cloyingly sweet honey and herbal and floral stuff all. I’m not sure if it is the sweetness, or the herbal and floral disaster or what, but I’m just not very pleased with this beer.
3.8 Pours cloudy gold with a big frothy white head. Aroma is grain, yeast and floral hop. Taste is a great blend of grain, floral hop that is soft and yeast with spring notes.
3.5 Sample at pushkinwow’s Beer Geek Extravaganza. 24MR12. App.: Cloudy deep golden with a fair white head. Aroma: Lovely warm spices, ginger, lavender, flowers, zesty, citrusy. Palate: Medium body, sparkling effervescence. Flav.: Wow, rich floral notes, really nice, sweet, vanilla?, lovely. Quite good.
3.8 Nice crisp and floral. This saison is clean with a nice sweetness and great floral/herbal notes from all the flowers. Loved it.
4.0 Tons of flower flavors here. A little age on this bottle did nothing to fade these flavors
4.2 had from 750 and poured into a tulip. Pours a hazy lighter orange color with a nice head. very complex with aromas of spices, citrus, fruitcake, hops, and some florals as well. Very good depth as well. extremely smooth medium feel. Polished with really good flavors of spices, coriander, citrus, and florals. A wonderful saison. Very complex and polished.
3.4 Bottle picked up at Rick’s in Alexandria. Served in a Mikasa tulip. Pours a nice light golden color with a foamy white head and some nice lacing on the way down. The nose brings some light grain and wheat plus a nice floral character. Light spicing in the background. Flavor hits the floral notes as well plus a nice backing pilsner malt character. Light body and a nice dry finish with a bit of bitterness as well. Quite well done.
4.1 bottle picked up by my wife at State Line in Elkton, Md. Best by 4/26/2015 Golden hue capped by a large moon crater head with amazing retention. Lacing hangs to the glass, tons of visiible bubbles. Nose is of yeast and dull earthiness. Taste is well balanced cracker sweetness rounded with flower and earth. Alchohol is upfront on this concoction. Mouth is full bodied. Wish I had another to age and compare.
4.3 Smells like fresh grass and flowers, lots of them being tossed in the air. Makes me think of spring time (which was fun because I was enjoying this in the cold of winter). The color is golden. Taste of flowers, pink roses, and a little honey. Delicate texture and lingers nicely on the palate. This is a very interesting style, and I enjoyed it very much. I would love to have this in the spring with a nice salad.
3.7 Pours a cloudy golden yellow with a smallish head and splattered lacing. Smell is initially sweet with honey and floral. Taste is quite sweet of more honey and though I have never had actually flower water before I imagine it tasting much like this. Although good and refreshing a lot of my favorite qualities of a Saison are ate up by the sweet floral notes.
3.1 Cloudy, yellow - orange, heavily carbonated with a thick and lasting lacing. Lemon, sour, and sourdough on the nose. All three of those come through in the taste along with a touch too much alcohol. The alcohol and the sourness separate and create two distinct tastes that do not play nice with each other in my opinion. A good beer but in small amounts. Not something I wanted more than a glass of at a time.
3.6 Bottle. Hazy golden orange, with white head. Bread, banana esters, sweet flowers, light fruit, perfume, and hay. A nice beer, pretty interesting.
4.1 The pour is a crisp golden amber. Large white head, good lacing. Aroma is soft florals, some apple cinnamon. The taste is some of that same cinnamon with a bit of citrus and some bitterness on the finish. Mouthfeel is just great. Full and rich, but not at all sticky. It tastes like autumn, if that makes sense. It’s a subtle beer, great to spend some time with.
3.5 Bottle @ home. Golden yellow-orange appearance with a big pearl white head. Rose floral, a touch spicy hoppy, citrusy aroma. Floral, tangy citrusy, lightly tart, light barnyard, Belgian yeasty flavor. Tangy aftertaste.
3.9 Bottle 08 thanks vfetg. Brown pour with tan head. Spice, floral overtones with a hint of citrus. Apple, spice, with floral and citrus flavor, nice.
4.1 Excellent Saison. Cloudy golden color with a good sized white head. Aroma is of yeast, slight funk, grain, and light citrus. Taste is floral, yeasty, slightly bitter and tart, and citrusy. Great corbonation.
