3.1 Bottle. Glass: Sam Adams Perfect Pint. Appearance: The body is a hazy amber with copper edges. A short light tan head comes out from the body on the pour but quickly dissipates to a ring and a very sparse coating. Aroma: Canned pumpkin comes to mind with nutmeg behind it then some cinnamon. Mildly sweet, though a bit weak. Taste: A bit bland, slightly watery. Hints of pumpkin with nutmeg and allspice there, hints of cinnamon. Finish is a bit watery with some spices. Palate: Lighter medium boded, moderately carbonated. Overall: A shame since I know Southampton are good brewers. This is watery and bland. Wouldn’t buy again.
3.4 Solid beer a bit more pumpkin and cinn flavor than some others. Not too heavy with only 5%abv so you can drink a few and not feel incredibly full like others.
3.8 Bottle. Pours slightly cloudy Amber with no real head. Nose is pumpkin spice. Taste mild pumpkin and allspice. Some vanilla. Creamy mouthfeel.
3.4 Bottle. Pours an amber color with white head. Pumpkin, veggie, malty aromas. Pumpkin, malty, bready flavors. A little less spice flavor than the other pumpkin beers I’ve been tasting tonight. Solid pumpkin beer.
3.6 Bottle. Pours an amber orange with an off white head and aroma of nutmeg, cinnamon, and malt. Taste is full of spices as well, with nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice, and pumpkin pie coming through with malty notes into the fall spiced finish. Drinkable pumpkin brew
3.3 Ar: Cinnamon, nutmeg, anise, bubblegum - some sweet toasted malt. Ap: Orange, clear - small white head with moderate-low retention, leaves a finely bubbled ring and a few wisps of foam. T: Toasted malt and pumpkin pie spice - brown sugar, a tiny amount of vanilla - anise - a touch of cotton candy - low bitterness, no hop flavor. P: Medium-light body with high carbonation - finish is dry. O: Well-made pumpkin ale, though nothing especially out of the ordinary.
2.7 Bottle. Pours clear light orange with white head. Aroma is strong of spices, vegetative, earthy, musty. Taste is heavily spiced, musty, fake. Medium-bodied, crisp. Not the best pumpkin.
3.8 Its body is very hazy and dark amber in color with some tiny slow moving bubbles. This carbonation is only visible near the edges of the glass. The beer is capped by a one finger tall, egg shell colored foam head. This head quickly fades to a small ring of foam with a wispy thin island in the middle. This ring of foam makes some nice slick lacing on the glass. The aroma is has a classic blend of pumpkin pie spice (cinnamon, nutmeg and clove) over biscuity dry malt and some slight hints of leafy hop spice. There is a mellow blend of mildly sweet bready and biscuity malt with classic pie spice. It does have a light pumpkin flavor that blends nicely into the background. The spicy notes turn bone dry in the finish along with some mild hop bitterness and leafy/spicy flavor notes. The mouth feel has a medium to full, well carbonated feel. This makes for a slow sipper.
3.4 12 oz bottle from Tipsy’s. Dark orange and clear appearance with a lacy beige head. Aroma of spices, pumpkin pie, light vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and light caramel/toffee maltiness. Similar flavor, heavily spiced, but not overdone, with a smooth, creamy feel and a medium body. Above average for a pumpkin beer.
3.2 Bottle. Clear copper orange with a lasting off-white head. Aromas of pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, light caramel and vanilla. Flavor is caramel, pumpkin, cinnamon, vanilla, clove, and nutmeg. Medium bodied, crisp with a light, fizzy carbonated end. Lingering spices.
3.7 "Earthy vegetable and spice aroma and flavor. This is a malt forward brew that has a decent amount of depth to it, making it stand out from the crowd just a little. I’ve liked the 3 I’ve had from these guys."
3.5 Bottle from old backlog notes 07. Pours a clear amber brown color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have light roast, fleshy pumpkin, pumpkin pie sweetness, nutmeg, cinnamon, at the time this was one of the better pumpkin beers I had tried. I have not had it since.
3.1 Rated from notes taken 20 Oct 2013 -- Pretty good beer. I would drink again.
3.4 Pour is a hazy amber with a small tan head. Aroma is cinnamon and other fall spices. Flavor is cinnamon, pumpkin and nutmeg not to the extreme due to its age, but it was a bargain bin pick up. Finish leaves that nice pumpkin pie spice and sweetness on the tongue. This is well past it best by date but it is still drinking well. Plenty of spice.
3.2 12 oz bottle. The pour is dark amberish with some nice orange notes around the edges. The head, or what can be called head, just sits in a nice little spot of film on top of the beer. The aroma is definitely pumpkin strong. There are some undertones of vanilla before the cinnamon and allspice take over, but it smells lighter than if expect for some of the other pumpkin ales I've had. The flavor is similar. There is a light pumpkin dominance before the spices and vanilla take over. On the front end there is a little bit of a lager-ish feel to it. The mouth feel is decently viscous, and then the aftertaste is surprisingly light and thinner than I would expect.
3.6 Pour is dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma is of pumpkin and spice, not much else. Flavor is a bit fruity with notes of nutmeg, cinnamon, caramel, and apples.
3.5 This cleverly named pumpkin ale pours orange-amber with a thin but persistent head. Nice blend of pumpkin, pie spices and vanilla.
3.4 Sampled at stop and go in Puerto Rico. Grainy and nutmeggy. Pumpkin. Decent example of the style. Not amazing or anything.
3.7 Southampton Pumpkin Ale has a very thin, gray-white head, no lacing, a mostly clear, amber appearance, and a good amount of bubbles streaming up. The aroma is of pumpkin and Fall spices, with an underlying beer fragrance, but the flavor is reversed- mainly a beer taste with a background of pumpkin and spices. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Southampton Pumpkin Ale finishes semi-dry, refreshing, and easily drinkable. This is very good, because they did not go overboard with the pumpkin and spices, so it is still essentially a beer. RJT
3.4 A: Orangish/Brown Hue, Passes Some Light, Thin White Head Ring, No Lacing S: Pumpkin, Cinnamon T: Pumpkin, Mild Cinnamon M: Mediocre Carbonation, Light to Medium Bodied, Mildly Spicy Overall, a pretty average pumpkin ale, a nice beginner beer for non craft beer drinkers but doesnt do much for me, especially when there are better options available and at the same price.
3.8 12 ounce bottle into pint glass, Fall 2013 bottling. Pours lightly hazy orange copper color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, gingerbread, toast, clove, brown sugar, toffee, light vanilla, and toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of pumpkin, spice, and malt notes; with good strength. Taste of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, gingerbread, toast, clove, brown sugar, toffee, light vanilla, and toasted earthiness. Lingering notes of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, gingerbread, toast, clove, brown sugar, and light toffee on the finish for a short bit. Good balance and complexity of malt, spice, and pumpkin notes; with decent flavor robustness and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth and moderately crisp mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very good pumpkin ale. Lacking some robustness of flavors; but has very well balanced flavors and is a nicely enjoyable pumpkin ale offering.
4.0 Southampton does the pumpkin better than maybe any other beer I’ve had. Rich in flavor.
3.1 12 oz bottle pours amber with a off white head. Aroma of malts and spices. Taste is malts, heavy spice and pumpkin.
3.0 Draft. Hazy amber color, small white head. Aroma of spice more than gourd, with a bit of burnt toast. Taste is similar. Light body.
3.1 Bottle. Dark gold, clear, light pumpkin aroma. Lots of carbonation, body is a little thin ... Some ginger ale qualities. Okay overall.
3.6 Poured from bottle. Dark orange. Tastes like pumkin pie. Good spice. Like it a lot for the style
3.2 Southhamptons Pumpkin Ale has a nice amber color and holds a nice head when poured. It's made with pumpkin pie spice and vanilla so it smells like pumpkin pie. One readily tastes cinnamon. It starts a bit sweet and finishes with a hint of vanilla.
3.5 Aroma is spices/cinnamon/nutmeg and light pumpkin. The flavor is spices/cinnamon, pumpkin, mild sweetness and slight heat notes in the finish.
3.4 12oz bottle pours a dark amber color with a minimal tan hed that leaves razor thin lacing. Smells of pumpkin, cinnmon and nutmeg and vanilla. Tastes of all the same things in the smell. Mouthfeel is light and creamy with decent carbonation. Pretty Good for a pumpkin ale but just average overall. The vanilla flavor was hardly noticable in the finish but was there. I’ll get some next year.
3.3 Bottle from Total Wine Boca Raton. Pours brown with a thin white head. Pretty big pumpkin and cinnamon on the nose. Fairly prominent on the tongue as well although the mouthfeel feels a bit thin. Solid though.
