Southern Tier 2XIPA

Southern Tier 2XIPA

Not quite an imperial, but certainly not a standard India pale ale. Our double IPA is a hop lovers dream. Citrusy and clean with an incredible finish.

3.2 Nieco męczące, ciężkie, sporo mocy słodu nieprzykrytego jakimś sensownym priflem chmielowym. Alkohol wyczuwalny. Pije się ciężko. oj.
3.4 Very decent double IPA beer! Fruity flavors with a bitter finish. Refreshing and very smooth. Not bad!
3.9 Slightly hazy gold with foamy lacy white head Aroma is mildly dank and mildly citrusy Flava is blend of citrus hop spice alcohol and bitterness Feels medium full with nice fizzy zing Finishes dry moderately bitter and mildly tangy
3.4 It’s on the more bitter & boring side for a DIPA! Pours gold w/ a fluffy white head & messy lacing. The aroma has a fair amount of earthy hops. The flavor is quite hoppy & finishes dry. Not really my thing!
3.0 Bottle. A- Pine, grains, caramel. A- Copper color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Pine, resinous, bitter, caramel, bready. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, slightly bitter finish. O- Can't decide if it was just old or a more traditional IPA. I lean towards the latter. Okay. Doesn't really taste imperialized.
4.0 Brilliant clear golden with a white head. Pine, resin, and citrus hops. Moderate bitterness. Classic IPA, well done
3.8 Been wanting to try this for a little over a year.....Worth the wait. Leans towards a West Coast DIPA. Hardly any malt, with a good amount of hops and bitterness. Semi-smooth, crispy feel. Ordered with dinner at Hawkers in Orlando, so was double the price, but would consider this again.
3.3 In einer Sportsbar in Philly. Orange-Goldener Körper. Aroma: Malz, Hopfen, Zitrus, Grapefruit. Im Geschmack stärkere Malzbetonung, wenig Zitrone, zum Ende hin hopfiger. Bitter.
3.4 12 ounce bottle at home. Smell like hops. Hazy deep yellow in color and little bit of white head and some film on glass, Deep taste of hops. Taste no citrus which is interesting. Carbonated. Smooth with your deep hop after taste which lingers. Good beer for a hop head. Cheers!
3.6 A big rindy grapefruit nose laced with a smattering of orange foretells the flavor of 2x. But aside front the very hoppy presence, there is a lightly sweet malt backing here pulling in the other direction. Pure striking golden pour with a fluffy white crown. Plenty of lace. Long bitter fade.
3.6 Flowery and citrusy. Decent malt that balance the hops. Medium bitterness. Clean finish
4.7 Pours clear amber from the tap. Nice lacing and big head. Floral with big hop finish.
3.7 Pours clear golden with white head. Floral hop aroma and taste. Notes: on tap at Primanti Bros, Aug ‘18
4.3 Rated in May 2018 from a 12-ounce bottle and again in September 2023 from a 19.2-ounce can. This is a composite review. It pours bright, crystal-clear orange-gold with a 1/8" off-white head and residual lacing and some visible carbonation. Aroma: subdued, yet tangy and fragrant tropical and citrus fruit, pine. Flavor: passion fruit, mango, guava, honey, caramel, pine, pineapple, tangerine, shortbread. Mouthfeel: medium- to full-bodied with lingering bittersweetness; love the juicy fruit and resinous pine flavors that linger along with a slight boozy finish. Too bad that the company sold out to the evil bastards InBev, though
3.5 Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Greg & Jane's Beer and Wine. Appearance is clear, light orange with trace sparkle, minimal off-white head with poor retention. Aroma is floral, berry, sugar, caramel malts. Taste is initial berry/fruit and malts, with strong resiny bitterness at end. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with slick texture, average carbonation, and bitter, dry, abrupt finish. Overall, the aroma is the standout but taste and palate are overly dominated by resiny bitterness.
4.1 love this beer. Bottle, its hella strong, 8.2%, but taste smoother than loads of ipa 6% or so. Smooth, crisp, I like it a lot more than a few years back when it first came out. It taste better.
2.5 Nothing special.
3.5 Bottle. Aroma is hay/straw, a little malt, light hopiness. Med clear golden color with thin white head that fades, very little lacing. Flavor is pretty well balanced, but a little light for a DIPA. Bitterness is more of the piney kind, no citrus. Body is appropriate for a DIPA. Overall, not too bad. Pretty drinkable.
3.7 Draft pours amber with a off white head. Aroma of pine, caramel and some citrus. Taste is resin and caramel.
3.6 12floz bottle, BOD: 10.31.2017, $1.75 unit cost, pint. Dumb, long run-on sentence ahead. Here is a pretty good lookin', smellin, tastin' DIPA: Dark gold with clarity and slightly off-white head, hoppy in a very traditional sense - herb, pine, citrus in aroma and taste, the taste has a good backbone of malt to add some needed honey, body is on the fuller side with moderate carbonation, which all taken together this is an alright ale. I've had this before, and it holds up to what I remember.
3.1 Bottle from Tops. Sticky and sickly sweet hops. Pine needles, fairly sweet, uncooked hop pellets. Odd.
4.1 Pours orange golden and hazy with an aroma of oranges and hops. Tastes of orange citrus and hops with a thin palate of lively carbonation. Light bodied for an imperial. It’s a crisp light bodied IPA with little bitterness and a subtle malt backbone.
0.9 Had to double check the bottle after the third swig to make sure I wasn't drinking my furniture polish,...UGH.Tastes like orange peels mixed with Orange Glo furniture polish.Half a bottle gave me a bit of a buzz though. The other half went down the drain.
3.5 Really? I haven't rated this??!? Thought surely. I know that I've had a few pints. Standard longneck, functional label. Slightly misted, clear gold with a fine white head. Hoppy, resinous, piney aroma. Sweet, malty, 'session' hopping, Gets a little vacant in the middle. Starchy mouthfeel. ABV is well masked, so the beer gets chummy. ABC Bull Run, in the discount bin at $.99 per.
3.6 on tap golden pour with sticky white head aroma and taste is bitter pine with light citrus
3.1 I hate that I am forced to write a comment, when all I want to do is rate the beer for my own reference. What happened to not having to integrate with ratebeer.com?
3.9 One of the best IPAs I’ve had. Well balanced with a complex hop profile. A solidly built beer.
4.0 good and strong
4.6 Very hoppy with a smooth crisp finish. I would recommend this beer to any hop lover who enjoys a bold IPA.
4.6 New for me. Excellent IPA in every way. Mine was canned and still tasted nice. By the third one felt no pain. It is hoppy so you need to like that taste. Smooth from start to finish. Compares to Yard’s but is a tad nicer . I will try their other beers soon
