3.6 Cervesa molt maltosa i acaramelada, també té un petit regust amarg. Cerveza muy maltosa y acaramelada, también tiene un pequeño regusto aromático.
3.4 [Tap] Draught at WOB in Evanston. Poured into snifter. Even amber color with a dense white head. Sweet malty aroma of rye, caramel, wood and some fruit. Earthy and dusty malts mix with bitter resinous hops. Well hidden ABV. Hard to pinpoint it, but I enjoyed this and found it pretty drinkable.
3.3 Small offwhite head. Clear amber body. Syrupy fruity aroma with strawy notes. Dry-sweet fruity perfumy earthy taste with mealy raisiny notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish earthy fruity funky aftertaste with resiny powdered sugar notes. Nice. Drinkable. Balanced. (0.33l bottle, at Olympen, Oslo.)
3.2 Clear orange, very small off white head. Aroma a little fruity, with some grainy malt. Medium body. Not much alcohol. Flavor is sweet but not too syrupy. At first some malt, a tad bland but brightens up with a crisp hoppy finish. Not bad. What’s next, double light lagers?
3.1 How: Bottle. Where: Haket - Bar å sånt, Göteborg. Appearance: Golden colour with a small white head. Aroma: Fruit, caramel, hops. Body: Medium body, low carbonation. Flavour: Citrus, caramel, fruit, bitter.
3.7 Bottle (33cl) from Vinmonopolet (Vika), Oslo. Clear copper colour. Half-inch white head, reduces fairly quickly, but leaves a nice band of lacing. Aroma of almonds, oxidized butter, caramel, pineapple, wood. Medium body, soft carbonation. Nice mouthfeel, refreshing without being watery. Taste is semisweet, gradually turning into dusty bitterness, well-balanced. Long, almondy bittersweet aftertaste.
3.6 Flaske fra vinmonopolet. Mørk kobber, klar, liten hvit skumtopp. Lite/medium karbonert. Smaker malt, karamell, honning, rosin, jord, korn. En fornøyelig øl.
3.4 Bottle from Vika enjoyed at home Copper clear, white head. Smells of honey, resins, wood, hops and malt. Moderate sweet, sirupy, honey, resins and wood. Quite typical malt and hop bill for Southern Tier beers. Quite clean flavor, medium bitter which is quite woody. Very nice stuff
3.0 12 oz. bottle. Pours a murky gold with a moderate off-white head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left light lace. Mild aroma of malt with a few weak bready notes. The flavor is malt, somewhat grainy, with some light caramel sweetness followed by some mild lemon. Mild bitterness at the finish.
3.0 Bottle from Vinmonopolet in Valkendorfsgate, Bergen. Pours a light amber body with a large creamy white head. Nose is pale malts, red berries, straw and hints of corn, apricot and a faint trace of sulfur. Taste is caramel, alcohol, straw, nut and hints of red fruits and herbs. Medium to full body, soft to medium carbonation. Semi-dry finish with quite a bit of booze in the aftertaste. Decent enough, but I’d rather enjoy a nice "single" steam beer; this is not the best of genres to pump up IMO.
3.4 Keg at Craft Clerkenwell; dark amber pour with bubbly off white head, nutty malt aroma, taste has a lot of malt quite bocky and sweet.
3.6 23.02.2014, 0,35l bottle @ home: Nice creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet, caramel malts, nuts, hay, almond cake, toffee, hints of chocolate. Taste is slightly dry, caramel malts, hay, almond cake, nuts, weeds, toffee. Medium bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel. Nice enough.
3.4 Golden color, small head. Low carb. Nose;caramel, fruit like apple and pear, wood. Taste; at first it feel like you’re having a cider until the oakwood kicks in. Decent bitterness well integrated. Abv feel high, would have guessed higher that 8, but its not unpleasant in any way. Unusual beer, but interesting.
3.3 Tap at Craft Beer Co Clerkenwell, 17/02/14. Lightly hazed golden with a moderate off white cover. Nose is a lightly bittered fruit mish mash, bread dough, orange peel, caramel, ripe orchards. Taste comprises caramel malt, vanilla fudge, candied orange peel, soft bread dough. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Ok easy drinker but falls way short on the flavour front for 8% ABV!
3.2 Bottle @ Bishops Arms Savoy, Malmö. Clear amber with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, pepper and moderate hoppy - grassy and fruity. Flavor is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet and light bitter finish. 080214
3.4 On tap @ Schouskjelleren. As good as crystal clear in the glass this one with a deep golden color and a nice big really dense and creamy off-white head. The aroma has a nice sweet fruitiness with lots of caramel and wood juices. It’s above average on the carbonation and light oily in the mouth. Taste like an imperial pilsner. It definitely has some alcohol, but it’s in no way disturbing. Lots of more fruity flavors here. Old ripe bananas and apples. It’s quite malty and perhaps a bit sweet at times but it’s still quite drinkable for a beer of this caliber. Ends with traces of sweet biscuit and sweet malts. All in all not bad at all. 15.10.2013
3.3 Bottle: pours a shiny amber color with good clarity all around, slight copper tones here & there, capped with a weak, off-white, big-bubbled head. Aroma full of very faint floral perfume, sweet biscuit malts, mild cornbread, some steel-y grain notes, & perhaps a kiss of DMS in the back-end. Taste has more of that sweet, almost cornbread-like flavor, pale malt, toasted biscuits, a dash of honey that leads into a mildly bitter, finishing bite. Hops seem somewhat floral mid-palate but finish more earthy & spicy, similar to Saaz. Body is a little slick with a lightly wet finish... This was much better than expected, & drinkable for 8% ABV. Surprised by some of the harsh ratings... what did you expect from a "double" steam beer? I thought it was actually pretty tasty.
3.8 draught@Erzbierschof - translucid and bright red-amber beer under a solid and long lasting creamy foam; light yeasty but mainly fruity and flowery (elderflowers) aroma; rounded palate, full-bodied and creamy/velvety mouthfeel; decently bitter but with a fair residual sweetness; light chewy aftertaste of red fruits and perfumed flowers - charming and dangerously drinkable
3.5 Appearance- Clear amber with a small white head. Long lasting with good lacing. Aroma- Sweet, hoppy, caramel, Slightly fruity, maybe a little honey Flavor- Honey, bready, bitter hops, a touch of citrus.
3.4 Deep amber oange pour with off-white head. Caramel and toasted malt sugars with light piney hops. Flavor is sweet caramel malt with a biscuity/toast finish. Light bitter finish. Lingering candied malt.
3.2 Bottle. Pours golden amber with a small frothy white head. Aroma of light malts, toasted grains, bread and some caramel. Flavor was slightly sweet with caramel, fruit, bread, earth and grains.
3.2 Southern Tier 2X Steam has a sessionable quality that hides the higher ABV well. Light citrus hop aroma coming from a light amber pour with a decent initial head that dies a little too fast. Taste is heavy on the pine notes with some citrus quality. Finish is slightly bitter with a nice peppery quality. 2X Steam is a refreshing quaff.
3.4 Dark amber liquid, average sized head, white and quickly vanishing. Classic herbal lager aroma, with some fruity notes (pear?). Light, nice mouthfeel, long bitter finish. Taste is a little licorice, smooth bitterness, very good balance.
2.5 Bottle:   Golden, small to moderate frothy white head, little lacing.   Sweaty aroma, slightly vegetal, musty, ugh....   Sweet corny start, rather heavy in both sweetness and corn like adjuncts.   A little mealy too, make that more than a little.   Compared to Anchor Steam this one is severely lacking.   Feels thick that’s for sure.   A little astringency on the backside.   I don’t know what this is, but its not as smooth as most California Commons.   And no idea how it rates as high as it does.   Too sweet and cornmeal like.
2.5 Orange with a slight haze, thin soapy head, and decent lacing; No Carbonation. Aroma of bread, floral hops, roasted barley and mild pale malts. Same goes for the flavor but some very strong booziness;. Light body and no carbonation. Not really digging this.
3.7 Moderate corn nose. Hazy amber, medium foamy head. Surprising intensity, very lagery, corn is dominant, just sweet enough to temper the intensity. Grass appears at midpalate, significantly strong for the style. Some cherry notes are also present. Medium body. I have not had a great deal of experience with this style, but this is by far the most memorable.
2.4 A clear golden orange beer with a barely there white head. The aroma is sweet malt and lots of grain with a little fruitiness. The flavor is lemon and grain with a barely bitter hop finish.
3.4 Pours dark gold with a nice white head that leaves a lot of lacing. The aroma just kind of screams beer with a nice mix of malt and hop. The taste is very well balanced with solid flavor. Quite different, not exactly remarkable, but definitely drinkable especially at 8%.
3.5 Amber pour and an unexciting grain aroma. The flavor is a little odd - strong grains (rye?), a fair amount of sweetness, a little tangerine, and some citrus peel bitterness. The hops lay low, but it is still hard to believe that this is a steam beer. It is one of the better ones imo.
3.0 Light body with a nice white head that leaves a trail on the glass. Aroma of corn, earthy hops, malt and a slight dose of caramel. Tastes the same with no noteworthy aftetaste at all.
