3.2 Orange flavor prominent. Almost a mix between vanilla and chocolate notes. But taste is artificial. Also boozy. Would not have again.
3.8 At the brewery pub in Pittsburgh. Aroma is great with melted chocolate and sweet orange. Velvety smoothness with biscuit roasted notes. Medium heavy body. Very good.
4.0 On Yahoo at brewpub. Opposite black. Orange/brown head. Chocolate/orange nose, like a orange creme chocolate candy. Orange liquor with chocolate taste, fading to orange, but not cirrusy. Creamy. Nice, perhaps a bit too sweet.
3.8 22-ounce bottle pours opaque black-brown with thick, creamy dark tan and lacing. Aroma: chocolate (milk and dark), molasses, dark dried fruits. Flavor: black coffee, figs, dates, chocolate-covered sweet cherries, cocoa, molasses, brown sugar, vanilla, ash, with a lingering sweetened, dried orange peel. Mouthfeel: full-bodied, chewy, creamy -- definitely a sipper. Very tasty, yet too sweet for me. I’d love to find out what this beer tastes like if aged in bourbon casks, which I think would mellow out, refine and balance the sweetness with some smoky woodiness.
4.1 Opaque dark with thick head. definite chocolate and coffee notes with an orange zest aftertaste. Didn’t think I would like a chocolate and orange combo, but was pleasantly surprised.
4.0 Black color. Nice , tan head. Coffee and milk chocolate in aroma. Flavor of chocolate and orange. Roasted bitterness at the end. Well brewed!.
4.2 On tap. Pours a dark chocolate color with a thin tan head and light lacing. Aroma is coffee and chocolate. Flavor is exactly what you would expect and hope for, delicious chocolate stout with hints of orange. Bitterness is mild and aftertaste is as good as it gets. Very awesome beer.
4.2 Draft at Jake’s Brew Bar in Littleton. Choklat notes but a distinct orange feel. Same in the flavor. Orange and chocolate are a great combination. Throw Southern Tier in there and you are set.
4.0 From a bottle. Sweet cocoa aroma and flavours, smooth with a hint of orange on the back, very tasty.
4.4 Shared a bomber of this between a couple of close friends and wish I had the whole thing to myself. Hoo Boy this is tasty brew. Perfectly balanced dark roasted chocolate and a slight hint of sweet orange. WowoWow Will buy again soon
4.2 On tap. Pours black with short light tan head. Aromas of dusty dark chocolate and rich roasted malts. Flavors follow same with subtle orange and more rich dark chocolate with almost a mint hint. Really a superb chocolate liqueur.
4.1 Draft. Very dark brown color, brown head. Aroma of orange peel and roasted coffee. Taste has chocolate and bitter orange, dry bitter finish. Delicious.
3.9 Bottle. Black with a nice one finger tan head. The aroma was dark chocolate with the favor being the same with mandrin orange. It was like eating a fine orange filled chocolate truffle. Thick on the tongue wit a sweet finish.
4.2 Tallahassee, Fl - ABC Fine Wine & Spirits - Betton - 12 oz bottle. Motor oil like black pour with a long lasting tight mocha colored head. Exquisite aroma of chocolate and orange flavoring. Reminds me of those thin chocolate and orange sticks. Delectable flavor, chocolate syrup, orange peel, orange cake mix (my favorite birthday cake), a touch of Kahlua. Thick, rich mouthfeel. Very enjoyable.
4.1 Bomber. Aroma is slightly sweet, with cocoa evident in the nose. Dark black color with reddish tint on the edges, tan head that fades quickly. Wonderful taste! Nice orange on the edge of the tongue right away, with cocoa following, and a nice warming on the way down. Med body with a creamy mouthfeel. Overall, a delicious stout with a perfect amount of cocoa and orange to boot!
4.1 A dense, low tan head on a near black body. A punchy nose features chocolate fudge cake, a touch of coffee and orange. A luscious dessert beer. Taste features chocolate, big orange, crème brule, cream and cake. A Grande Marnier heat and a touch of pepper add to the experience. Sweet, dense and a touch sticky. Great in small amounts.
3.5 Goblet at MacGregors. Deep, cloudy black with a pretty, rocky read. Nose is chocolate syrup and orange, like a Belgian orange chocolate. Flavor is quite extreme: like a chilled cocoa drink with a shot of Grand Marnier in it. Boozy orange flavor. Very sweet. Not a good summer beer. Tasty enough despite the low drinkablilty.
3.6 Draught, into a growler. I was excited for this, as their Choklat is one of my all-time favorites. And I do generally like the combination of chocolate and orange. However, I just didn’t think it worked well here. The beer was good, but didn’t cross over into the "fantastic" range. I think it had just a bit too much citrusy orange to it.
4.2 Black with rimming beige Lacy head; aroma is rich dark cooking chocolate; flava is rich spicy hints of orange peel cayenne pepper and chocolate; feels medium silky slightly fizzy.
4.1 Another fantastic southern tier beer. All of their blackwater series have similar tastes, but some stand out. This is one of those. Pours a beautiful deep black with a thick tan head. Smells of chocolate covered orange, with vanilla and creme as well. Taste is super creamy, with lots of orange creme, vanilla and dark chocolate cake. Tastes like a fantastic dessert. Had in the bottle.
3.9 Pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma is primarily just rich chocolate. Taste rich toasted malts, then some sweet chocolate kicks in as it warms. Orange flavor is elusive. Its there, but barely. Really good chocolate stout.
4.0 Dark beer with a short brown head that shrank to a lasting wisp. Rich chocolate and orange liqueur nose. This reminds me of the orange flavored alcoholic chocolate truffles. Creamy chocolate, liqueur soaked orange peel, caramel and a long alcoholic chocolate finish. Really tasty dessert beer.
3.7 Bottle. Pours nearly black with creme colored head that lingers at the glass rim. Chocolate aroma over mild carbonation. Dark chocolate flavor with a hint of orange.
3.2 Opaque black with creamy brown head. Creamy full body with tannic-like bite. Moderate carbonation. Aroma: amazing rich chocolate, faint citrus oil, a minty note. Taste: bitter burnt grain, bitter hops, bitter orange peel, odd minty note on the finish.
4.0 Pours black with a fine tan head. Nose is milk chocolate with modest orange and a little roastiness. Flavor is a burst of chocolate on the front, fading to a sweeter and more generic stout on the back. Orange flavor is present but not too strong. Finish is slightly chocolate and long and sticky. Well made and be good over vanilla ice cream.
4.7 The look is very dark with a hint of light coming thru, light head, the smell is not really much orange but more caramel sweetness, cocoa , very sweet smell. The taste is incredible, it’s like drinking chocolate orange candy, you know the type that you buy that is made to look like an orange? After the swallow it’s pure chocolate sweet heaven! If you like sweet stouts, it’s one of the best ever. Took me a few years to get a bottle but it was worth the wait!!!
3.9 Big bottle. Head dissipates quickly. Mostly orange, but also bitter chocolate in the nose. The flavour adds some mint and booze. Not too sweet, as ST often are.
4.4 It pours a dark brown to black color with a small off-white head. The aroma is really nice chocolate with hints of orange. The taste is rich, dark chocolate, orange hints, and slight booze. It’s smooth, oily, and really tasty. This is a great sipping and desert beer.
4.0 Bomber from Tavour. Nose is big on chocolate, sweetness, and hints of orange & caramel reminding me vaguely of Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup from my childhood many years ago. Black with a medium lightly lacing cinnamon tan head. Flavor is moderately sweet chocolate with hints of orange and bitterness.
3.7 more orange on the nose than the taste. full bodied, can taste the booziness at the end.
