2.8 Bottle shared at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks fonefan for this bottle. Cloudy orange. Malty aroma with cookies, cookie dough, caramel, a bit of chocolate hints and woody hints. Malty flavor, a bit nutty, with dough, cookies and a faint note of weird acidity. Medium-bodied, lively carbonation. A bit weird.
3.9 Bottle buried on the shelf. Dusty on the outside, lets take a peak to see whats inside. Shit, liquid, no dust. Pour is a dirty orange, wihte head. Caramel, bread, oak all over this mother f’er. Really cool oaky taste, some of the best oak I have ever had, not joken. Might buy another bottle.
3.5 Grabbed a bottle for no particular reason just cuz it looked fancy pants. Pours dirty brownish copper with thin head larger on last pour. Nose of sweet toffee. Tastes of toffee, butterscotch, fruity esters, bready, vanilla, and some rubbing alcohol for good measure. Too sweet but it is southern tier so u know prior to buying.
4.2 Smak och doft av humle, malt, karamell, mycket honung, blomnektar, aprikos. Välbalanserad, jämn och fin, vällagrat, riktigt gott i gommen.
3.1 Bottle thanks to Kevin. Pours a cloudy orange copper with small white head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is dark fruits and citrus. Medium mouthfeel with a coconut flavor and light malt and nice dry finish. A good American strong ale.
3.7 Bomber, thanks to khoffman in trade, golden orange color, with malty orange zest and vanilla aroma, flavor is malty graham cracker crust, cheese cake, mandarin oranges, finish has some heat
3.7 65 cl bottle. Originally rated on 20110122. Pours copper color with a small head. Aroma of caramel, malts, ripe fruits, toffee, some sugary notes and wood. Flavor of caramel malts, toffee, ripe fruits and some coconut. Slightly off-balanced.
3.4 Clear copper of color with a small white head. An aroma of sweets, weak dark fruits, oak and honey. A flavor of sweet malt, honey, candy, weak oak, bread and sherry.
3.2 0.65l bottle from my secret Santa 2012. This has been a big want for some time now, so big thanks to my secret Santa! It pours a lovely looking blurry amber copper-bronze colored body with a small and eventually sidesticking light bubbly off-white top. The nose is lovely sweet and definitely oxidized. Caramel-farmhouse with a fudge sweetness. There is fruits in here also, the ripe kind. Banana, apple and dragon fruit. It smells quite nice, and you most definitely notice that it has a few years on it’s back this puppy. Oh my, the oxidation in the aroma is nothing compared to the taste! there is tons of old ripe fruits, and it’s heavy on the sweet side. A kind of honey mixed with caramel-sweetness. It has a really comfortable small prickling carbonation level and the mouthfeel is strongly sticky. You also notice the alcohol quite clear in this. Some woody vanilla traces in the earthy - almost potato-like finish, but that’s quite subtle. I’ve tasted a few oxidized beers in my time, but this one most definitely wins both the silver and the golden medal. Warming sweet aftertaste. A bit challenging to drink the whole bottle, I have to admit, but I’m sure glad I got to try this. 27.12.2012
3.7 Bottle. Pours deep golden with an off-white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, grains, mint and some oxidized notes. Flavor is sweet and malty with some oxidized notes, mint and toasted malt. Medium to full body, average carbonation.Medium body, average carbonation.
3.8 Bottle 650ml @ Geokkjer Pours hazy amber with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, vinous and oak. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light to medium bitter. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
4.1 Bomber. This smells wonderful. Dark complex fruit with rich malts, woods, and spices. It is mid brown and opaque with no foam. The flavor follows. It meanders around in your mouth with the various flavors popping in and out. Wood notes with nuts. Brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and caramel. Alcohol is tasted mid glass. As this beer warms it borders on barley wine territory. Hops are pretty much a "no-show." This is good stuff.
3.6 22oz bottle from Armanetti’s. Pours a hazed, copper-amber-gold colored body with a finger-width, dense and frothy, beige head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is sweeter melon fruits with some aged citrus-pine notes, caramel, light nuts, a bit of a toasted coconut, and a light wood. Flavor is similar. Sweeter with a bit more of a nutty essence to the caramel and a good amount of melon fruits. A light wood and aged citrus-pine in the middle before a lightly toasted coconut and vanilla comes out towards the end. Finishes smooth and clean with a nice sweetness alongside touches of nutty toast and melon fruits. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium-full, slightly sticky, smooth body and a light carbonation. Overall, a pretty nice beer that has held up well. Sweet, but not too sticky or cloying with a nice nutty coconut and toast note. A good amount of melon fruits and faded citruses with a light wood while not giving off a hint of alcohol. Pretty good one.
3.5 Bottle 650ml from fonefan thanks ! A copper beer with low creamy head. Nose is on caramel, light apple and peach touch. Aroma is very sweet on dry grapes, malt, apple, light fig, leather, yes some coconut but very low. Finish is again very sweet with vanilla and light oak touch, good but less complex than expected, oily texture, alcohol well hidden.
3.8 Sampled at SBWF11 Deep golden. No head. Loads of warmin alcohol and sweet, dried fruits. Pretty sweet with notes of menthe.
2.9 Bottle. Darker orange not much head. Rafts smells caramel sweet honey maybe but hops oak. Not a good oak a dirty rotting stinky one. Let’s see some fruit spice. Tasted infected to me flavor off I don’t like the series for the most part.
4.0 Bottle with somPatty. Pours a lightly hazed copper amber color with small head and lacing. Aromas of strong vanilla bean, vtg oak, caramel, candy sugar and floral hops. Taste is nice and rich with oak, dry fruits, almonds, sweet malts, and faint chocolate. A little boozey in chest but what do you expect for 11 percent. Really liked this one, prolly the fave of the series.
3.9 Bottle @ Camons tasting. Hazy amber with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, heavy caramel, wood, alcohol and moderate hoppy - fruity. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish. 120712
3.7 Orangey amber pour with small foamy off white head. Lacing coats my glass. Sweet malt in the nose along with burnt sugar. Taste is more complex with the additions of pine resin, vanilla, and light oak. Full body. Yum
3.7 Bottle. Pours dark caramel. Nose/taste of caramel, oak, toasted coconut, honey wax, vanilla, burnt sugar and piney grass. Medium body. Some citrus - almost like a citrus barleywine.
3.9 Bottle @ home. Pours slightly hazy orange with a small white ring of foam along the glasssides. Aroma of malt, caramel, oak, coconut, light booze. Flavor of malt, caramel, cocunut, Wood, oak, light booze. Medium body, lively carbonation, warming alcoholic finish. 120712
4.2 Nice sweet coconut flavor maybe a bit too sweet, but nothing huge to complain about. A good beer.
3.7 Bottle @ Rene’s house, courtesy of chrisv10. Thanks! Hazy reddish orange appearance with a small off-white head. Somewhat boozy, rich bready, caramel malty, oaky, light coconut aroma. Pretty smooth, somewhat chewy caramel malty, slightly burnt sugar, lightly piney, herbal flavor. Some oxidation but not bad. Held up pretty well and actually better than the other two that I tasted with Armin.
3.8 I see this is retired now, drank it 7/09/12 and it was excellent. sweet but in a subtle, mellow, way, soothing. Thick and yummy, a dessert in itself.
3.5 22 oz. bottle, sent from dfhhead25 (thanks Gib), pours a cloudy orangey red with a medium off-white head. Aroma of oak, wood, dry citrus, toffee and a little oxidation. Flavour of caramel, oxidized sherry notes, some butterscotch, and a little sugar, though perhaps less pronounced due to its age. Quite complex and not sweet, but maybe slightly past its prime as evinced by the oxidation notes. Not the "diabetes in a bottle" that Cuvée 3 was, but inferior to Cuvée 2.
3.6 65 cl bottle @ O’Hara’s Freehouse. Rated on 22.01.2011 Aroma is sweetish and malty with some ripe fruits and hops. Flavour is sweetish with caramel, some ripe fruits and hints of stinging alcohol. Decent, but somehow I expected more by the name.
3.5 22 oz. bottle, and I can’t remember where in Cincinnati I bought it because it was in 2009 when I was first buying craft beer in large quantities. Pours a hazy orange-gold with no head. Aroma of caramel, maple syrup, oak, citrus, coconut, vanilla, and pine resin. Flavor of citrus, pine resin, oak, maple syrup, coconut, mild spices, and leaves. Medium-full bodied, with a smooth, resinous mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Pretty damn sweet. Interesting beer.
3.5 Bottle, pours a nice reddish brown, well carbinated, the oaked flavour was very strong. lots of vanillia, very nice stuff, pretty strong
3.5 Served from a 22 oz bottle. The appearance is a nice crystal clear copper hue with a micro white head. Very sweet nose with a lot of caramel and some orange blossom honey. The flavors are caramel, almond, butterscotch. with a slightly chard white oak in a long finish. Some rooty spiced liquor flavors in there too. The carbonation has faded. A decent brew.
