Southern Tier Gemini (2007-2013)

“blended hoppe & unearthly”
High in the winter sky, two parallel stick figures are visible & known as “the
twins,” or the constellation Gemini. The astronauts of the 1960s flew as teams
of two in a program named after the celestial pairing. At Southern Tier, we
have our own fraternal twins, Hoppe & Unearthly. Blended together & placed
in this vessel, the mission of our Gemini is to travel high & take passengers on
a journey far into the heavens.

3.3 Pours a cloudy orange golden color with a short beige-tan head. Oranges, cream, and biscuit dough on the nose. A bit of a gooey mouthfeel without being thick. A fine carbonation burn occurs mid-palate. Flavors closely approximate the nose.
3.9 Pours cloudy Orange with white head and some lacing. Aroma of grapefruit hops, medium fruit, and caramel malts. Taste is sweet brown sugar malts, tropical and dark fruits, and plenty of hops. A little sticky. Great brew.
4.3 Bottle from De Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Shared with Nick one hot summers day. Vivid amber pour with a generous white head. Big piney hop nose with some grapefruit. Very enticing. Cracking balance between the sweet malt and hop in the flavour with the ABV well smothered. Hops really shining here. Huge drinkability. An absolute belter of a beer.
3.1 a good malty beer with a medium strong flavor... hops are just right...leaves a film on the back end though
3.3 Big fan of the hop mix in this one - Chinook/Columbus/Cascade...these give a lovely pine/clean accent to a well-crafted beer. A big bitter finish but does not linger on the palate.
3.6 I need to write something. Malty malty malty. Yum. Enjoy this one again and again.
Utóízében is érezni a sok gyümölcsöt, először keserédesen, de ott a szigorú, igazi keserűség is a legvégén, ami rendkívül szárazan fejeződik be a végtelenségig kitartva. Nem kezdőknek való, brutálisan jó darab!
3.7 Mellow in bitterness Heavy body Unfiltered texture permeates Cloudy orange peel color
3.7 Bomber. This is a blend of Un*Earthtly and Hoppe, so the result is predictably somewhere in between. Hazy with a good head (thank you, wheat), but also lotsa hops. To me, the hops don’t add much bitterness, although it does finish very dry. Instead they add tons of flavor. Orange or tangerine more than pine or grapefruit. Maybe Juicy Fruit gum more than anything else. Striking in this respect. Doesn’t feel like an Imperial until the buzz kicks in.
3.7 Bomber. Orange with floaties. Subdued hop flavor. Carmel and malt. Nice body to it.
3.9 Bomber. Blood orange with particulates. Caramel, malt and mild hops. Sweet and light. Some mineral flavors.
3.7 Bottle. Pours hazy golden. Aroma is hops, citrus, grapefruit, hay and yeast. Thick mouthfeel, a bit oily. Not bad, maybe a bit too much though. Heavy body with soft carbonation. Quite bitter but a huge maty backbone.
3.7 Bottle: Poured orange with whispery white head that swirls around. Sweet sticky hops aroma with nice malt tones fill the nose. Tastes is strong hops that is rugged and abusive, followed by some sweet malts.
4.4 Creamy amber color with good earthy fruity nose. Great lacing and creamy head. Taste is so smooth, hoppy but fruity. Great IPA.
4.2 Bomber. Pours a thick hazy amber with a foamy white head. Aroma of citrus and pine hops, and caramel and toffee malts. Smells amazingly sweet and citrusy all at the same time. Nice balance between sweet malts and bitter hops. Pine and citrus hit the palate first followed by caramel and toffee malts with a bit of earthiness in the finish. Bittersweet finish. Southern Tier has yet to let me down! This is a great way to finish a long work day.
3.4 Bottle 0.665l at Gallows Bird, Espoo. Colour is clear orange with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Fruits, citrus, grapes, hops and malts.
3.7 Bomber->SA. Slightly hazy orange-gold with big white head. Aroma: dense citrus and floral hops. Taste: grapefruit, pine and citrus peel, malt. Nice double IPA.
3.5 Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy light amber color with a moderate white head. Nose is a little hoppy and earthy. Taste is slightly bitter, with a hint of sweetness at the end. An odd but interesting beer...
3.5 Draft. Pours a slightly hazy orange with chunky head. Aroma is sweet maltiness as one would expect from a ST IPA, with citrus and some peach. Taste is alost equal amounts of sweet caramel malt and orange, peach. In the end the sweetness overpowers the hop bite. Ok.
4.0 Pours a transparent dark golden liquid with tiny snowwhite head. Smell wonderfull of sweet bit vert bitter hops. Taste of sweet caramell, then turns bitter and finishes with a little spice. Viscous mouthfeel. A very good ale!
4.3 Pours a deep golden liquid with a small somewhat disappointing offwhite head. Sweet and hoppy aroma of caramelmalts, peaches, pine and some yeast. Rich mouthfeel. Starts off with a sweet taste of bread, caramel and peaches. Switches and finishes with a more hoppy taste of pine and citrus. Superb.
3.8 Bottle. Amber colour with a beige head. Aroma is hop, peaches, malt, pine. Flavour is hop, malt, peaches, alcohol, grapefruit, pine. Full body. Nice beer.
3.9 Bottle from Trembling Madness. Hazy amber coloured with sweet orange marmalade and slight burnt toffee flavours, warming spicy red fruit, oak, leather and fruitiness on the finish. A very nice Barley Wine.
3.6 Poured from a 22 ounce bottle. Pours a hazy copper with a nice froth of white foam. Aroma is a hefty herbal and piny note. Tastes more malt forward than the aroma indicated. Maybe this is an older bottle. I can’t find the bottling date. Very carbonated.
3.6 Bottle 650 ml. Pours hazy darker orange in color with a small white head. Orange peel, some yeasty notes and hints of perfume in aroma. A bit of them soapy notes and perfume in taste. Moderate bitterness. Sweet in taste as well with some citrus backing it up along the malty backbone.
3.5 Tastes like a double IPA. Aroma is citrus and fruit. Taste is hops with a huge wallop of hop. Intense as hell!!!
4.6 1 year after bottling. Nice mild hop aroma, very obvious very enjoyable. Taste is a combination of sweetness and earthy hops. Nothing bitter here. A very drinkable brew. Very very good like most Southern tier brews. The head is perfect really long lasting and correct retention. Nice mouth feel...proud I found this one. Flavors are pinapple and earthy hop bitteness. A bit cloudy but countred by great head.
3.6 Bottle, 22oz. It’s a more or less clear one, dark golden in color and with a small, white head on top. Piney, grapefruity aroma with a lot of malty sweetness. Quite sweet on the palate, full-bodied and with a little warmth. Bitter.flavor, both initially and in the end. Nice carbonation too. Pine cones, caramel sweetness and some citrus in the flavor. Bitterness, citrus and pine cones blend nicely with the maltyness in the end. Nice. 130119
