Southern Tier Goat Boy

Southern Tier Goat Boy

When words don’t say enough we sometimes let our fingers do the talking. Maybe it’s kid stuff, but the sign of the goat has been used by rock stars, sports fans, celebrities & unfortunate politicians to celebrate symbolically.

Open this bottle for your turn to flash the eternal gesture of high voltage rock & roll. For those about to bock, we salute you!

3.4 2015-10-14. Crisp brown body with a small beige head that fades 3+ Aroma is pleasantly malty, notes of caramel and toasty malt. Flavour is malty, lightly sweet base with caramel notes, toasty malt accents. Smooth average plus bodied palate, soft carbonation. 3+ Solid take on the syle. Bottle from the LCBO, Toronto.
3.3 Hazy brown pour with tan head. Nose was malt, banana, earthy. Tasted malty, with notes of banana, earthiness, toffee, fruit.
3.3 Bomber via beer world. Grey brown amber pour. thin head. Malt nose malt nose malt nose and then some malt. Big sweet body that threatens doom. For me a bit hard to finish it was so sweet.
3.6 Bottle: Poured a clear brown color bock with a nice light brown foamy head with OK retention and some light lacing notes. Aroma of light banana bread and caramelized malt is interesting. Taste is a nice mix of banana bread, caramelized malt with some residual sugar notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Not bad but the yeast ester are not exactly up to par with their German counterparts.
3.5 Malty, bready, heavy and tasty. Clear, nut brown with a soft, vanilla ice cream head. Nice feel, good mellow carbonation.
3.6 Bottle from HomeBrewStuff. Taste is the best asset of this brew, which, all things considered, is probably the most memorable. Kind of a dull pour for a weizen, small head, cola colored body. Aroma is full on roast malts, very sweet. Taste brings it all together, not as sweet as it smells, fair amount of burnt toast bitterness. Body seems light, sweet cloying finish. Also ABV kind of low for the style...but it tastes great.
3.7 Great name...awesome graphics...solid beer...lots of flavor...some banana and some yeast..yummy stuff...thx dusty
3.8 Pours a good size frothy beige cap and has a fairly dark amber/coppery appearance. Good lacing. Aromas are wheaty and malty with notes of yeast. Flavours are mostly malty, some toffee, earthy hops, spices. Full bodied mouthfeel.
2.9 On tap at The Mansion (FL). Good looking. Sweet aroma and overly sweet flavor despite some obvious hop bitterness. Lots of toffee and brown sugar with some banana and too much clove.
3.7 22oz bottle pours out a amber with red highlights topped with a white head. Nose is rich pit fruit belg yeast spice and a heavy malt. Taste is more of the heavy malts some sweetness and a nice belg twist.
3.6 Bottle shared with my wife. Pours a clear browned amber with a large white head. Yeast on the nose, toast, malt. On the thicker side of medium bodied, sweet with a bit of toast and malt. Picks up some dried fruit notes. Warming alcohol makes a brief appearance, but nothing distracting in any way. Long toast on the finish, soft bitterness.
4.2 650ml bottle from LCBO, Parkway Mall, Scarborough, ON. 7.5% alc. / vol. Pours a hazy ruby brown colour with a small off white head. Aroma of caramel, roasted malts and a whiff of plum. Taste matches the aroma with notes of banana. Well balanced taste with a light body finishes dry. Low carbonation.
3.7 (bottle) lear, bright reddish amber colour with a small beige head; aroma of sour fruit, earth; balanced flavour with a lng, light bitter finish; creamy palate
3.5 Bottle – poured a honey-amber color with a substantial puffy white cap. Aroma was pungent – smoky banana, biscuity, grassy and succulent fruit (Lots of esters in this) . Flavour is rather dense for a wheat ale – big chew of caramel malts balanced with dark fruit esters and some herbal hopping, goes a bit drier in the finish where the dusty wheat malt shows up balanced with the hops. Not a bad weizen heller bock but a bit heavy and sweet for my tastes in this style.
3.8 A nice dark brown coppery colour, albeit filtered, with an off-white head that dissipates pretty quickly. The nose is treated to brown sugar, bananas, and sweet malts. Palate is medium bodied and more crisp than creamy. The tastes range from caramel malts, to nuttiness, to light banana esters, with hints of wheat as expected in a Dunkel. It all drinks quite nicely, and I’d definitely grab some more bottles of these. Yet another Southern Tier beer that I am really enjoying.
3.3 Bottle. Pours a clear amber brown with an off-white ring. Sweet aroma, of caramel, malt, brown sugar, hops, dark fruits. Taste starts sweet, with dark fruits and caramel malt, then picks up quite a bit of hoppy bitterness. Lingering sweet bitterness. Decent.
1.7 smell’s malty, bready, wheaty, yeasty, a little sweet with hints of caramel and banana. Top is amber read bottom is kinda light syrup caramel color. Bubbly head leavs fast. small carbination alot long time. Malty body with some sweetness, a little carame, hints of cherry and a little banana. The hops in it are citrus grassy and leave a bitterness that shows more as it drys out. some sips have a little warmth in belly. Would like bitterness tamed down, more moister then dryness and a bit less malty/sweet but not a bad beer. Cheer’s. Just not the best in the style and a style I do like.
3.4 [Bottle (650ml)] Pours a slightly hazy deep auburn with an average size long-lasting frothy off-white head. Minimal lacing. Aroma of yeast, dark fruit, sweet malt, light spices and a hint of banana. Slightly watery flavour of yeast and wheat along with dark fruit, banana and light spices. Alcohol relatively well hidden. Average bodied. Not always a fan of this style, but I liked it -- good, not great.
3.2 Bottle to weissbrau glass Goat blanket, hay, malt, and a slight sourness. Clear, light amber with a 1/2 cm bright white, creamy head. There is lots of effervescence and as a result, good retention of the head. Light banana, perhaps caramel, and bitterness. As a Weizen Bock, I’m quite surprised.
3.0 Bottle - Pale malts and light banana. Clear gold with a rich beige head. Bitter, boozy and a long bitter finish. Bitterness overwhelms the caramel and banana.
3.6 Sweet grain malt aroma. Clear orange red color with a small white head. Sweet beginning with a moderate bitter finish.
3.3 22 oz bottle- Pours clear dark ruby red to orange with a small light tan head that reduces to a collar. Aroma is cherries, raisins, root beer, vanilla. The taste is cherries, vanilla, wood, root beer candy, alcohol. Carbonation is fairly high, body is medium. This is okay, nothing i’ll go out and get again.
3.4 650 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a clearish caramel red-brown with modest-sized off-white head. Aroma is dark fruit, some funkiness, sweet caramel and a bit of roastiness. Flavour is full of dark fruit and mellow roastiness with some sweet caramel and a little funk. Plus body. Nice.
3.6 2015/06/20 - Pours a clear mahogany with a medium, foamy, off white head the quickly reduces and leaves moderate lacing. Aroma is sweet malt, brown sugar, caramel, banana, prune, dough, wheat. Taste is sweet caramel, prune, banana, grassy hops and just a hint of roast and booze on the aftertaste. Moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Mouthfeel is oily with smooth carbonation and a drying and slightly warming finish. Would have preferred a bit more of a wheat centric taste, but this is still very drinkable.
3.6 Dark mahogany pour with a medium white head. Sweet bready aroma, lots of earthy wheat, and some subtle cherry. Soft carb, full mouth feel. Sweet malty finish, slightly boozy and a tad dry.
3.4 Bottle, 22oz. An unclear, auburn beer with a dense, finger-thick beige head forming some lacings. The aroma is sweetish, with prunes, some caramel and tropical fruits and some alcohol. It’s full-bodied, lightly warming on the palate, and with a nice carbonation. Prunes, caramel sauce, some dark chocolate and bread, a hint of tropical fruits and a nice bitterness. Not too sweet. Lasting finish which feels rather sweetish though. Not bad this one, but a tad boring, at least it doesn’t excite me. 150612
3.3 Bottle 650ml @ Hotel Room, Hotel Lord Berri, Montréal, QC Pours clear dark amber/brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, wheat, floral, grass and caramel, Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light to medium bitter with a long sweet caramel and grassy finish. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
3.7 This beer separate s the sheep from the goats with it’s rosy brown pour, and soapy white head. Malty nose of dry grass, a touch of yeast, and barely booze and some corn syrup. Ewe can taste a full mouth of malts, namely hay, and a little caramel, a decent sweetness typical of a bock that’s not overwhelming. A little bitterness in the finish. Very smooth and drinkable. I don’t want to lock horns with anyone by ramming my opinion down their throats, but this is nice beer.
3.3 Bottle from LCBO. Wheat and light banana aroma. Banana and other fruits, caramel, and a slight hop and booze bite.
