Southern Tier Tangier

Southern Tier Tangier

Where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean is the ancient city of Tangier. This confluence has made Tangier a cultural waypoint for millenia. From Greek heroes to Cold War spies and uprisings, Tangier has inspired thousands of legendary stories. It is written that before his battle with the giant Antaeus, Hercules rested in a nearby cave. But where myths end, our tale begins. Tangier is brewed as a Session India Pale Ale with spicy citrus aromas and stone fruit flavors. These flavors, with the addition of lightly roasted malts and brilliant hop bitterness, make Tangier a beverage as refreshing as it is exotic. The approachable 4.6% abv yields more time to enjoy the synergy between the tangerine peel and spicy, citrusy, Azacca hops. Enjoy Tangier in celebration of your epic adventure.

3.4 Can at a Thanksgiving party. Lots of tangerine and other citrus fruit in the aroma.
3.3 Draft at Macs Tavern. Clear fizzy orange gold pour with a slim white head. Dark citrus hops and medium toasted malts. Satsumas. Violets. Cardamom. Cloves. Leather. Rosehips. Wildflower honey. Bittersweet pithy chalk finish.
3.5 Dégustée à l'été 2016 (De mes notes). Merci MAM .
2.7 Thin white head of varying sized bubbles. Nice citrusy aroma with some lemon, pineapple, soft bready malts and dandelion greens. Color is a rather light gold. Flavor has lots of herbal flavors along with some strong and harsh citrus bitterness. Grapefruit pith, lemon rind, cereal grains. Minimal malt backbone to offset the strong bitterness. Finishes lingering dry and pasty bitterness. Expected better.
3.1 Original rating was done to test the new app. Here’s the real thing. Bottle, Harris Teeter @ Barracks Road. Pours slightly hazy golden with a pop white head. Aroma is biscuit, citrus (without being specific). Flavor is quite plain... biscuit, citrus with a lean towards tangerine at the end. I expect way more out of Southern Tier.
3.6 Clear golden and white head. A really clean hop dominant IPA with a true sessionable quality. Hop, malt, grapefruit, tangerine and spice. The malts linger just right and the juicy fruit and resin are tasty. Reminds me of Japanese beers with the super clean and nice finish.
3.8 Better than I expected, especially for an IPA. Light with a slight fruit taste, but it was pretty good
3.6 Bottle. Pours a clear light yellow orange with a thin white head. Aroma of citrus, light fruits, grassy hops, light spices, spruce. Flavor of tangerine, orange peel, bitter hops, citrus, earthy hops, melon. Light, fruity, bitter too. Easy drinking session IPA. 7/4/7/4/14 [3.6/5]
3.2 Average India pale ale. Good color and aroma, light on taste and complexity.
3.3 Pours clear light gold with a finger of white head. Aroma is spruce with mandarin oranges and tangerines. Flavor is smooth and crisp with citrus and mild bitters.
3.2 12oz bottle. Poured a golden color with an averaged sized head. Citrus, pine and some lighter fruits.
3.4 0.355l bottle @ Hotel Room. This is a cloudy looking one, ehm, yellowish orange in the glass and a small slowly fading white lacing head on the top. Smells really good. It has lots of zesty citrus. Oranges and grass. Lots of hops here also. Nice. Its definitely a little thin in the mouth, not directly watery but not too far off either. About average on the carbonation. Tastes good and lightly refreshing. Oranges and zest. Citrus sharpness and a little bit of stone fruits. Easy to drink and easy to like. 21.06.2015
3.5 12 oz can from Plaza Liquor in KC. Clear golden yellow appearance with a white head and light lacing. Aroma of zesty hops, light grains, stone/citrus fruits and light spice. Similar flavor, adding mild hop bitterness and a light malty sweetness. Light, balanced and easy to drink. Pleasant SIPA overall.
3.2 Pours a slightly hazed gold with a white head. Aroma of pine, pineapple and cereal. Crisp on the tongue, some more pine, tropics...much more breadiness and bitterness than expected but also a trace of soapiness...not bad though.
3.5 12 ounce bottle. Hazy honey gold pour with a large whipped cream white head. Faint fruity malt nose has soapy, citrus notes. Tart light fruit cocktail malt flavor. Some tangerine and melon. Dryish lemony finish. Light bodied and drinkable.
3.3 12-ounce can pours bright clear yellow with white head. Aroma: mango, pineapple, pine. Flavor: tangerine, passion fruit, mango, pineapple, pine needles. Light, crisp, dry. Drinkable in large quantities.
2.7 A bright golden color with a white head. The aroma contains some lemons, tangerines, and a bit of some unwanted extra something not to pleasant. The flavor is dry and crisp with some citrus and spices. Overall this pretty simple and uninspiring even for a session IPA. Decent.
3.7 One of the better session IPAs. Aroma’s fresh hops and skunk. Flavor’s like nose, more bitter than sweet, good carbonic tang. Body is full but with low alcohol, lacks in expansiveness. Nice finish.
2.9 Bottle Mediocre but not overrated. The tangerine flavoring overrides the hops and anything else they threw at this. Good but not great. Definitely overpriced. But refreshing as hell. Worth trying at least once.
2.8 bright citrusy aroma. golden and clear in color with nice head. light in body, taste is citrusy with notes of tangerine and faint pine. finishes clean and smooth.
3.2 Sample at the Pittsburgh Winter Beer Fest. Pours a clear golden yellow with a foamy white head. Nice citrus aroma and taste. Ok but not great
3.4 Pours a slight hazy golden with white head. Aroma is citrus, tangerine, some sweet fruits, pineapple, light tropical hops, the flavor is citrus, bready, and some tangerine, leaving grassy notes at the end. overall very refreshing and flavorful.
3.2 12 oz bottle. Pours a slight hazy golden to copper color with a small off white head. Aroma is of nice citrusy tangerine, some sweet fruits, light tropical hops, citrus and light bready grain. Taste is much the same, tangerine, citrus hops, light fruit.
3.4 Clear gold with a nice head. Aroma fruity, citrusy, notes of guava. Taste bitter, and crisp, notes of orange marmalade and rind. Nice and refreshing.
3.6 From the 12 fl. oz bottle with a 10/13/16 bottling date. So a few months old. The color of the pour is light amber-yellow with a small cream colored head that becomes a ring. Some cloudiness The aroma definitely has a dose of tangerine in the mix with a slight tobacco or herbal quality. The body is light to medium. The taste tends to become more herbal or tobacco-like, which I expect is due to the age of this bottle. Light fruity bitterness to finish it up.
3.5 Draft at Butterbees pour light gold with thin white head. Nose big citrus and tropical fruit. Taste like many sessions, good fruit and citrus but a little watered down.
3.7 12oz bottle - clear light golden yellow color with a med soapy off white head. Light but enticing aroma of mild citrus, a whiff of tropical hops and a hint of oatiness. Light bodied. For a session IPA it has a good hop component....light citrus, straw and a hint of fruitiness. Actually, it might be better out of the bottle.
3.2 Taps clear golden with a thin but serviceable eggshell head. Aroma is not strong, but promises good hop and citrus character. Flavor delivers resiny hops, citrus and tropical fruit notes, rather pleasing. Mouthfeel offers decent fizz and body. Tangy tangier.
3.5 Bottle . Moderate straw and grain for the malt, moderate to heavy orange and grapefruit peel for the hops, faint soap for the yeast, with notes of tropical fruit and coriander in the background. Head is large, frothy turning rocky, white, with good lacing and is fully lasting. Color is pale, hazy yet sparkling yellow. Flavor starts lightly to moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery with a lively carbonation. Not a bad Session IPA, light in body but refreshing and easy drinking.
3.5 Draft. Clear golden yellow color, medium white head. Aroma has orange peel and pineapple. Taste is lightly bitter citrus. Nice.
