3.9 Bouteille. [notes 2006]
3.2 Bomber. Taste is thick pine, licorice, citrus peel. Too much caramel malt for me to absolutely love. I miss the floral hops I enjoy in ST beers.
4.2 Bottle@home, from Wine Spot, Cleveland, USA. Medium/strong, sweet, barely artificial aroma of mango. Copper color with small natural white head and semi hazy liquid. Strong, balanced taste with sweet, over aged, slightly organic, fruits, mainly mango and malts. Medium taste spectrum and long, malty, bit hoppy aftertaste. Medium/strong body body with medium carbonation. Overall, high quality, bit simple, while combining good qualities of American (sweet) and English (sour/bitter) traditions.
3.3 Pours an orange amber with a thin white head. no lacing. Aroma of orange and mango with a big aroma of caramel malt. Flavor is very sweet up front with the resinous hops hitting you towards the end. Medium body. Sticky texture. Low carbonation. Alcohol present but not aggressive. lasting bitter finish. Not bad but not worth the $16 I paid for the four pack.
3.0 Aroma is malt and bread, some tropical fruit and pine but too much malt. Appearance is almost dark orange, hazy, off white head, all wrong. Taste is malt bomb, bitterness from that, pine finish, some tropical fruit but way off. Mouthfeel is medium body and light carbonation, malt and bread in the aftertaste. Overall, this is not worth the price.
3.3 Poured into a snifter. 3.0 A: Clear medium orange color. One finger of frothy off-white head. Retention is a touch below average and not much lacing is left. 3.5 S: Piney and citrusy hops. Lots of orange with some lime underneath. Clover honey, caramel, earth, and biscuit malts. 4.0 T: The taste is grander than the nose. Sugary with candied oranges, potent lime, and some lemon too. Caramel, honey, moderate bitterness. Again biscuit malts. 3.75 M: Heavier medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Nice creaminess to it. Potent bitter aftertaste. 3.75 D: Southern Tier has an awesome big beer lineup and this fits in well. Solid all around. ★ 662 characters DavoleBomb, Sep 25, 2015
3.9 Sweet malt hoppyness that tingles your whole mouth and keeps building to a plateau that fades to hops and a malty caramel sweetness that lingers just right. This is really good.
4.0 Smells of sweet malts followed by slight hop scent. Nice medium gold color. Taste is very malty followed by a slight hint of hops at the very very end. Very unbalanced beer. Slight booze flavor coming through through out the Flavor skeem but slightly boosey. Love your beer this one just a bit strong.
3.9 Bomber pour at home, with no date on the bottle. Pours a nice clear orangish color A bit malt forward for me, but it may be due to an older bottle - but I don’t know since I don’t have a date. Nice lingering bittering taste. Solid beer.
3.7 Aroma is a complex mix of pine, fruit, caramel/mild sweetness and hop resin. The flavor is grapefruit, caramel malts, hop resin, mild sweetness and a mix of spicy, bitter and slight alcohol finish.
3.0 Sweet and piney aroma with strong bits of malt. Ok amber color with some chunks floating around. Nice immediate hop flavor, but quickly fades away to strong malt through the after taste.
4.4 Aroma: caramel, floral, citrus, Appearance: clear golden, off-white head Taste: medium sweetness, medium bitterness, Palate: medium body, sticky feel, average carbonation, bitter finish, Delicious
4.1 650ml bottle with a hefty 11%. This beer doesn’t hide it, and it doesn’t have to. Strong in every sense with a good balance and nice aromas of resin and earth. I like.
3.8 12/14/15. Bomber. As the label describes, piney floral nose w a toffee thick mouth and a peppery bite. Solid DIPA.
3.4 Refrigerated brown bomber poured into a snifter. Clear amber with medium white head. Aroma is nice herbal hops, medium body, light carbonation, and good small-bubble lacing. Taste is herbal hops and bitter finish.
3.9 Bottle. Pours golden copper with a sticky white head. Aromas of toffee, stone fruit and floral hops. Flavors are toffee, sweet malt, stone fruits, white grape, herbal tones and a measured hop bite. Noticeable alcohol warmth. Sticky, sweet mouthfeel. A bit overly sweet, but the restraint of hops is somewhat refreshing.
3.5 Orange pour. Aroma of citrus, flavor is great orange, caramel, fresh hops.delicious.
4.3 22 ounce bottle. Amber orange color. Small creamy white head. Intense sweet malt nose with pine hop notes. Flavor mirrors the nose. A big sweet maltiness is balanced by the intense pine and grapefruit hop bitterness. This IIPA beer is big and bold, very much in the vein of the great West Coast IIPA’s. One of Southern Tier’s finest efforts.
4.3 Pours copper with a foamy head. Very strong sweet malt aroma. That’s a malty beer. Something like stone would produce. This is a man’s beer.
4.1 Growler from Albertsons. First sip, and I’m already impressed. Orange amber body with thick fluffy head. Piney hop aroma, slightly astringent. Taste is pure hop, but exceedingly smooth. Alcohol heat kicks in on the way down the pipe. Beautiful all the way around, delicious, excellent brew.
3.9 Tap / Tirador. @ Perch Pub, Philadelphia, PA, USA A: Amber / Ambar. T/S: Hops, resinous, malty / Lupulo, resinoso, a malta.
3.7 Rich pine and citrus hop aromas with a touch of fruits and malts to go with it. Flavor has a nice piney punch with the toffee, toasty malts coming on strong. Overall its pretty good, a bit malty for my tastes but good.
4.0 Pours clear orangish amber with limited head. Sweet resinous hoppy pine aroma. Flavor is nicely balanced between grapefruit and light malts. Not much bitterness. ABV sneaks up on you. Fierce IIPA gave me a dirt nap.
4.2 Amber color , medium-sized , off-white head . Aroma of grass , resin , fruits and caramel . Balanced and smooth taste . Pleasant bitterness , well disguised alcohol. Great beer.
4.2 On tap at uno,Hamilton. Yellow Orange color. Head is off white, and looks creamy and lasting. Aroma is light, grass, straw,. Taste is yummy. Not at all typical IPA tastes. Woody and hoppy, but Very smooth. Amazing considering the abv. In my top 3 IPA’s.
3.7 Bottle from Southern Tier Super Pack. Pour is a murky copper color. Not much of a head again, and what there is disappears instantly. Aroma and Taste are earthy, resinous hops and caramel sweet malt. The hops do manage to balance out this monster (a bit). Thicker bodied with minimal carbonation. A bit boozy and slightly syrupy on warming. Decent
3.7 pours a semi murky copper amber with a medium beige head. Aroma is floral, herbs. Taste is hoppy bitter. Not really citrus, but non-distinct fruit. Pleasant lingering aftertaste, mildly bitter. The alcohol is well disguised for the ABV. Good beer!
3.5 Poured an amber light copper color with aromas of citrus and light pine with some decent makt. Flavors are earthy hops and light pine a touch of bitterness in the aftertaste.
4.4 Hoppy citrus and pine hop aroma. Not much flora hops. Excellent mild malts that really did a fantastic job at adding a dimension most IPAs do not have. Everything great but overall impression in the end was excellent.
3.5 Double IPA that hits hard and comes out with a bang. Very hoppy and has a real great taste,
