4.0 Nice aroma, small head, good malt taste. Pours a nice dark brown in color. Nice full body, but doesn't feel heavy. very easy drinking.
3.9 Wonderful full flavoured, complex, strong. Beautiful beer, my style. online saveaur bier
3.4 330 ml bottle from Beer Hawk's mystery case, bb 07/2019 so ok. Red/brown, clear, pale beige head. Nose - raisins, dried figs, malts. Taste - bittersweet, follows the nose.
2.6 Maso
3.6 12 oz bottle, pours reddish brown clear. Medium body, aroma of dark fruits and malt. Bready raisin taste with slightly bitter finish.
3.8 Appearance of coca cola and some of the sweetness too. Figs and licorice in the flavour with heavy malt backbone and some marmite umami. Morello cherry tartness stops it being over the top in my opinion. I like this style anyway and thought this was an interesting and worthy example.
3.6 355ml green bottle. Pours a clear red-brown with a large, creamy, short lived, tan head that laces. Sweet aroma of toasted bready malt, caramel, raisin, prune and brown sugar. Sweet flavour of toasted bready malt, caramel, toffee, raisin, prune and mild chocolate in a dry, mild bitter finish. Medium body with a smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Very nice, ABV is well integrated.
2.6 From a beer hawk mystery case. Pours dark brown like Coca Cola. Thin head. Little aroma. Very sweet malty liquid. Taste of caramel , banana, toffee , brown sugar, malts. Way too sweet for my palate and not enough hops. Cloying. Not my favourite. But at £1 a bottle from beerhawk it was ok ! Would not buy at full price. I will stick to IPAs , from the brewing capital (Burton, England ) and similar hoppy beers.
Belle gourmandise.
3.8 Bottle shared courtesy of Daniel Tomlinson in Bluebell Bar on a windy summer evening - Thanks! Thin fluffy head left a cover on a mahogany coloured still body. Caramel, malt & demerara aroma. Medium bodied, so smooth on the palate with a sparkling back. Treacle toffee, caramel, biscuit, malt, brown sugar, spices & liquorice tastes. Very nice,
3.8 Bottle from beerhawk. Coco-cola appearance. Aroma is caramel, malt, cherry and roasted. Flavour is smooth, crisp, herbal, dark fruits, cherry, malt and caramel.
4.0 24-06-2019; bottle; at home (bought at Saveur Bière, as part of their December 2018 discovery box). The beer looks nice. Chestnut brown, crystal clear and with a nice soft almost creamy light brown layer of foam. Foam retention is average. Looks like a proper Doppelbock. The aromas of the beer are great. The malts give caramel, toffee, some roast and some liquorice. It is warm and full. The hops give some rather herbal aromas. Nothing clear, but just a warming herbal ness. Yeast gives some fruity esters. There are some touches of banana in the distance. Also quite some spicy yeast. I like the touches of dried fruit in the beer and there slightly rough hops and yeast notes. It has some power to it. The taste of the beer is nice. Sweet malts, with also a bitter toasty malts, bitter hops and some savoury notes from the roast. The beer is well balanced. Nice one. The palate of the beer also is nice. Full body, smooth texture with even a creamy component. Carbonation is average. The finish of the beer is nice. It has nice red fruit and caramel, together with a slight spicy hop thing. All in all, a very nice beer. Definitely worth a place in the monthly discovery box by Saveur Bière.
3.8 Botella 0,33l Color marron oscuro-rojizo,espuma blanca,fina,alta,poco resistente.Aroma malta,caramelo,frutos secos.Sabor dulce,oleosa,fuerte,maltosa,caramelo,frutos secos,amargor entra ultimo,suave.Un Doppelbock muy bueno
3.8 Bottle. Clear mahogany color with an off-white fizzy head. Aromas are malty with clear melanoidins, note of caramel, brown sugar, hazelnuts, caramelized apple. Taste is sweet but balanced, quite sticky and flavorful. Good body, medium to high carbonation. Tasty Doppelbock.
3.9 Candy malt sweet candy burnt smooth Carmel. Good head. Nice head. Sweet. Medium head.
3.6 12 oz. bottle (I thought all imports were 11.2?). Nice roasted malt scent, faint hints of coffee and chocolate, touch of banana. The green bottle is deceiving, the beer is very dark brown. Taste is malty, with a hint of chocolate, some booze. Subtle hint of hops. Sweet smooth finish. A heavier beer, not one for the beach, but rather for sitting back and ending the day.
3.3 Brune avec une amertume contrôlé
3.7 Bottle at home. Beautiful dark red to red-brown color, medium sized tan head. Aroma and flavor is malts, sweetish caramelish, caramelised sugars, lightly brown malts. Decent body and carbonation. Nice, well done. 7-4-7-4-15.
3.9 Dark bown pour with a thin head. Aroma is malty/bready. Flavor is crisp and similar to its aroma. Very nice.
3.3 This beer has potential, and am sorta liking Spaten. Wouldn't say is my favorite dobblebock, but the price for an imported 7.2% can't really be beat. Sampled this for a single, then just saw today Total Wine and More has a 6-pack for about $7.50. Almost bit, but gonna wait and get a 6 down the road for sure. Mostly malty brown here, minor hops at the end. For 7.2% you would think the alcohol would be somewhat masked, but sorta stands out...in a good way though. Not something I would want to drink all year long, but here and there splitting 6-pack with a friend sounds good to me.
3.0 De Hopt. En copa Teku. Viendo Westworld 1x10. Unidimensional.
"potenti"
