3.1 Location: 12 oz bottle from Norm’s, 8/6/09 Aroma: Caramel, toffee, toasty malts, a bit of bread, light hops Appearance: Clear amber color, one finger white head, some lacing Flavor: Similar to the nose, malty mostly, some light hops for balance Palate: Light to Medium in body, an OK mouthfeel, a bit thin Overall Impression: Not a super exciting beer, it’s a decent malty pale, but lacking in hops in my opinion. Not bad, just not bringing a ton to the table, it is a little of bland.
3.0 12oz. Bottle: Aroma of toasted malts, slight caramel, and a tiny bit of hops. Poured amber/orange in color with a small, creamy, off-white head that lasted throughout. Hazy. Lightly sparkling. Many tiny particles throughout. Very good lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet. Tastes of malts, caramel, toasting, and a hint of hops. Medium body. Lightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Toasted malt and light caramel finish is lightly dry. Bland.
3.0 Bottle. Pours an orange golden body with a white head. Grainy cereal notes, light dried fruit, hints of pine and citrus. Thin and simple.
2.7 12oz bottle. Pours golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is of hops, malt, and citrus. Taste starts off with an earthy hop bite. It also has lots of citrus and spice. Backbone of bready malt evens the beer out. Lingering taste of earthy hops and dirt. Mouthfeel is light and carbonated. Nothing too special about this beer. It drinks easy, but it’s nothing special.
2.4 Thanks B, for the brew.. Upon prying the cap off this sucker foamed out all over the table...then when I dumped it into my glass it exploded like champaign. Left behind a deep bubbly off-white cap that had great retension until the bottom of the glass. A bit of messy lacing. Brew is a cloudy, mucky orangish colour and filled with tons of debris. The aroma is plentiful but uninspiring. Less than fragrant, there is some grapefruit and possibly tangerine but the large presence of something similar to what you would get when you shake a tin of Ice Tea crystals, tear off the lid and then huff in the cloud of powder. There is also a thick sweetness. Don’t forget instant memories of vodka. Somewhere in here ’earthy’ crossed my mind. Taste is bland, lemony, pine, the hops remind me of vodka and the malts are almost nonexistant. Has a pop-like feel with a so-so swish. I really dislike this particular bitterness. The worst West Coast pale I’ve ever had.
2.9 "Brew appears to be copper with a yellowy haze a large white cap was produced and had terrific retention. Aroma is mild consisting of slightly bitter malts, some sour candies and citrusy hops. Flavour is very metallic, hops are noticeable and they remind of vegetable soup that’s weird. The malts are very mild and have a very earthy quality to them. Beer is light bodied and slightly over carbonated. After taste is clean and mainly containing metalicy malts this brew is very drinkable and taste ok, but its not wowing me. "
3.9 Bottle. Pretty golden color with a bright white head that thins but never disappears. Pleasant citrus and floral hop nose. Great malt/hop balance. Several flavors roll over the palate. First is a honey sweetness, then malt, a blast of floral hops, then cereal/bread malt, and a mild bitterness. Not at all heavy but a good mouthfeel. Really excellent.
2.9 12oz bottle. Hazy orange, white head. Nice aroma of hops. Clean malt character. Nice bite of hops. More hops than most IPAs. Pretty damn good.
3.4 (bottle - 12 oz) Amber pour with a thin off-white head. Aroma is light and hoppy with some malt and citrus balance. Flavor is malty and lightly sweet at the beginning with a very light hop presence. Finishes clean with a touch of bitterness and citrus. Smooth and easy drinking.
3.3 On tap at Speakeasy. Amber color with an off-white head and solid lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, toffee, and mild hops. Flavor is malty with some caramel, toffee, and some hops on the finish, but nowhere near as hoppy as their IPAs. Smooth palate, medium body. Drinkable but nothing too exciting.
3.1 This amber ale poured with a decent off-white head and a fruity aroma. There is a clean pale malt flavor that is a bit fruity, and a nice balance of hop bitterness. A good session beer.
3.5 Bottle Pours a cloudy light amber with a small white head. The seems to last well and laces good. Aroma is a good mix of malts and hops with hints of toffee. Has a good carbination and a good malty flavor. Balanced verywell. Has a good mouthfell and a medium body. Has a decent finish. This is a good drinking beer. Not great but satill good.
3.4 12oz Bottle – 99 Bottles – Federal Way, WA Aroma: Nice malt aroma with a good hops aroma. Appearance: Light Amber in color, clear with a thin head. Flavor: The flavors where malty with a light citrus lingering. . Palate: Dry finish, with a Nice Mouthfeel. Overall: Very nice pale ale this would be a everyday if I was in town.
3.3 Bottled Golden with a white head. Fruity citrus and some toffee in the aroma. Soft and malty mouthfeel with mild toffee.
3.1 ~Pours a cloudy light golden color with big fluffy head. ~Interesting sweet hop scent, reminds me of other east coast pale ales that I have had. Good solid scent. Smells like it well be sticky. ~Kind of a musty hop taste with lots of caramel malts. Pretty well balance. I wish the hops were more dominant. Balances out so well that it makes it too mellow. ~Medium creamy feel. Not sticky as I had hoped. Pretty mellow finish. ~It is enjoyable. Just mediocre. There are better pale ales I would rather spend my money on.
4.4 bottle. Great mouthfeel, not as hoppy as the Big Daddy IPA but still a great kick. A well balanced tasty brew
3.3 Bottled. Thanks larsniclas. Hazy golden colour with low pale white head. Grapey, grassy aroma, and a solid maltiness is sensed here as well. A solid, pretty clean IPA with medium-hopped character wih semi-low malt base, that might be disturbed by a touch of potatoe starch. Medium bitter.
3.2 12 fl oz bottle thanks to larsniclas On March 7, 2009 Hazy golden color, off-white head. Mild hoppy and caramel scent. Caramel and dusty taste. Medium mouthfeel, medium bitterness.
2.7 Bottle (35 cl), thanks larsniclas. Hazy golden, small white head. Potatoeish dusty malt aroma, some vague hops. Medium bodied, medium carbonation. Dry with moderate bitterness. Boring.
2.6 4oz taster, poured with no trace of head and an orange hue. aroma is slightly antiseptic, the flavor a bitter hop, but flat. watery mouthfeel.
3.5 Nice golden pour with a decent head and some lacing. The aroma is that of floral and piney hops with some sweet-ish biscuity and husky malts. The flavor is definitely malty up front with notes of husky sweetness. This is followed by a nice mix of piney/floral hops. Not bitter, but quenching and pretty nice to drink.
3.9 Slight haze to the golden color, sticky white head and very good lacing. Dusty dry aroma, and very full. Very malt forward, weighted in its fullness, some notes of citrus and alder. Transports me to summer. Hops cut through at the very end to finish very refreshing and very impressive.
2.7 Pour: 12 oz bottle to pint glass. Hazy goldenrod orange with a modest off-white head. Some wet, wispy lacing. Nose: Right off the bat I get walloped with that crystal malt iced tea aroma. Not a good start. Once I get past that I detect some slight underripe tangerine and a faint herbal character. Mouth: This is really weak. Tastes like crystal malt and biscuits. Hardly any hoppiness. Maybe a whisper of grass and orange seeds. Bitterness is so feeble I barely even notice it. Mouthfeel is fine but I don’t get any joy out of drinking this beer.
3.8 10/23/08 On draught at the Pied Piper, Seattle, Wa. Aroma is slightly pnw hop forward, caramel sweet, with great balance. Appearance is clear gold with a medium maintained white head . Flavor is very well balanced and somewhat blended between floral & moderate bittering characteristics, but flora forward. Mouthfeel is medium/low bodied with a medium/high carb texture. Overall, simple in it’s presentation, but the balancing makes this above average.
3.4 Cloudy deep golden wiht large white head. Spicy hops in the aroma with notes pine and awnd grape fruits. Somewhat hoppy flacour with citric and piney notes.
3.5 Poured from the 12oz bottle, this cloudy amber ale is well made with a proper balance of noticeable hops presence and good hop character. The last several reviews complain of a lack of hops...not every American Pale Ale tastes like an IPA or double IPA...
3.2 12oz bottle via trade bonus from Sparky27. Thanks. Pours a hazy yellow with a small bright white head with fat bubbles and good retention. Impressive lacing. Aroma shows toasty grains, subtle hops, a graininess, cereal. A standard, recognizable Pale Ale aroma. Some more hops would be nice. Taste is very clean, light and smooth with a subtle finish of graininess. Lightly malty with pretty much no hop flavor and very low bitterness. A smooth drinking beer but I wish it packed a bit more of a punch.
3.0 Cloudy golden pour with a thin white head. Aroma of citrusy hops. Flavor of citrusy hops with a bitter finish. The body is light with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation. Mostly unexciting.
3.4 Another Foodery find in Philly. Mildly hazy light copper pour under a thin dirty white head. Just a touch of lacing. Aroma of mild citrus but you really have to search for it. Classic West Coast pale ale flavor profile of citrus, light caramel, toffee and crisp hops. Clean and dry finish.
3.0 Pours with one finger head which settles nicely. Smells malty with little hops. Tastes malty with just a little hop kick. I’m suprised it’s not hoppier... Almost a tea taste to it. Body is slightly heavy.
