Spezial Ungespundet
Das Ungespundete ist unsere einzige Biersorte, die ohne Verwendung von Rauchmalz hergestellt wird. Das helle, unfiltrierte Bier mit feinem Hopfenaroma und wenig Kohlensäure heißt so, weil es im Lagerkeller ohne Spundung (also ohne Überdruck) gelagert wird bis es vollkommen ausgereift ist.

Gold with a frothy, white head. Aroma of Backhausbrot with a bit of bandaid. Taste is mildly bitter the whole way through with some understated notes of roasted bitterness & smoke taking over the finish. Medium bodied with mild carbonation. Interesting and quite drinkable.
On tap at Brauerei Spezial, Bamberg. Hazy yellow, lasting white head. Yeasty, malty, some light fruity notes, nice moderate bitterness in finish. Wasy drinkable and refreshing.
Tap@ brauerei Spezial Bamberg. Goudkleurig, licht troebel, goede kraag. Ruikt lichthoppig, smaakt idem, fris, lichtbitter.
Golden, nice white head and lace. Mild, sweet, biscuit, short finish, easy.
War erst etwas überrascht, hab dann aber gesehen, dass hier gar kein Rauchmalz drin ist. Optisch aber glasklar, sollte das nicht trüb sein? In der Nase irgendwie Milchsäure, im Trunk Getreide, leicht bitter, völlig unspektakulär.
On tap at Hopdog Munich. What can you say? Creamy yellow amber, light haze, grainy Kellerbier nose. Perfect balance of cereal notes, mild acidity, and spicy traditional hop bitterness. Yeah!
500ml on tap at the brewery, Bamberg. Aroma is oats, light malt. Appearance is light to medium hazy with a thick white foam. Taste is - although no smoked malt - light smoky. Light sweet, light bitter. Full body. Superb.

Super soft and damn drinkable. Bready grainy maltyness. Subtle smoked malts notes. Das jetzt vom Fass vor Ort 😍 fantastic lager.
Keg at Zum Franziskaner. A bit hazy golden with a white head. Aroma and taste of bread, citrus, hay and grass. The body was medium as was the bitterness. A decent one.
on tap at the brewery. Hazy golden, tall white head. Yeasty-malty flavours, pleasantly hoppy in the finish. Very nice, as are all the other beers from this excellent brewery and restaurant.
At the source. A bit hazy yellow color, medium sized white head. Smell and taste malts, hayish, slightly some herbal bitter notes, fairly bitter. Decent body, firm carbonation. 6-4-7-2-14.
Angenehmes naturtrübes Kellerbier mit deutlichem Hopfenaroma und - ungewöhnlich für ein Spezial - ganz ohne Rauchmalz.
Flaska @ Zum Franziskaner. Disig gyllengul öl med ett större vitt skum. Doft och smak av malt, gräs, hö och jäst. Frisk med en bra avvägning mellan sötma och den framförallt gräsiga beskan.
Draught at Brauerei Spezial, Bamberg, Germany (€3.00/0.5l). Poured a hazy gold with a 1-2cm bright white open foam head that retained well and laced OK. Aroma of mystery grain with a slight sweetness. Taste is similar. Light body. Smooth, crisp, clean and slightly dry.

LooksClean and tasty, yeasty and malty, fine herbal hops. Nothong special but realy fine.
[Bamberg 2018] First sampled @ Brauerei Spezial. Immediately got 500 ml. after sampling. Got 500 ml. next day & would have gotten way more if I didn’t have a lot more stops to do. Hazy golden, solid small white head. Nose is somehow sweet in a spectacular way & crisp, vanilla, straw, hay, bread, hops,… Insane combo of drinkability, crisp, clean & ultra-drinkable, vanilla, hay, toffee, wheat, biscuit, hop, bread, field, flowers, yeast, almost indescribable, god-tier level. Beyond drinkable. Good thing I didn’t manage to book a room at Spezial, I would have likely drunk myself to death on this.
On tap at Brauerei Spezial Bamberg. Unclear golden coloured, small to medium sized white head, yeasty herbal nose. Sweetish malty, grassy, light herbal hoppy and rather dry bitterish finish. Pleasant one.
10th Sep 2018, draft at the brewery. This unfiltered pils is a lovely drink, hazy golden yellow body, decent sized white crown. The nose is yeasty, grassy and malty, taste also has the same three parts with the malts playing the most dominant part before the grassy hops kick in towards the end of each sip.

Pours hazy ochre with a thin, frothy, off-white head; lots of lacing. Aroma of brown bread, yeast, butter, dough, caramel, ripe fruits, smoked ham, herbs, some wort. It tastes light malty sweet, bready, a bit fruity, and light herbal bitter with a sourish, yeasty, perhaps elderberry-like back. Dry, grainy & yeasty finish, faintly hoppy. Light body, watery texture, fizzy carbonation. Plain good Keller.
Hazy golden color. A bit more sour and tart compared to other kellerbiers. Nice earthiness. Definitely a step above average
At Spezial. Cloudy yellow - white head. Egg. Bread. Hay. Grainy. Dryish finish. Nice mouthfeel. I could trink this all night !
From tap at Spezial, Bamberg. Grainy and bready aroma with a hint of smoke. Soft herbal spicy touch with toffee and hay. Bit sweet, mild bitter. Body is medium. Excellent Keller.
Vom fass at Spezial brauerei. Naturturb, big foam. Light bready fresh poured lager aroma. Thin milky, little herbal bitterness, smooth. Very dry, butter cookies finish. Classic zwickl, looks great, mild taste, but a pleasant breakfast beer!
Draft at the source. Hazy yellow color, white ice cream cone head. Aroma of bready citrus. Taste is lightly peppery lemon. Tasty.

Golden, medium hazy body, with a big, fluffy, lacing off-white head.
Aroma of bread, honey, grains, flowers, citrus, some fresh herbs, some biscuit.
Tastes pretty similar, creamy and juicy.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes smooth, moderate sweet, a bit bitter, grainy, grassy, floral, bready, a bit herbal.
Tasty. Perfectly balanced, smooth and very quaffable. Creamy balance, with the typical aromas of the style, but with a lot of depth. Perfect unfiltered Lager.

On tap @Luppolo Station (Rome). Dorata viva, schiuma bianca media. Al naso sentori di malto, miele, panino al latte, pollaio. In bocca è dolce, con un bel gioco di malti, non spinge dell'amaro. Corpo medio, carbonazione media. Bella birra, ma mi aspettavo di più.
Several times fresh from tap (fränkischer Anstich/ wooden barrel) at Spezial Keller - Same fresh yeasty character as their Lager. Well balanced hops to the pale malts and the low carbonaition to get the full taste of this simple but great beer. My favourite "U" from Bamberg.
500 ml from tap at Brauerei Spezial, Bamberg. Served in mug. Vibrant cloudy orange colour, full creamy head. Citric and floral nose. Elderflower, grapefruit and other citrus fruits and some yeast. Very balanced, hoppy floral taste, slightly bitter. Soft carbonated, creamy texture. Fantastic Zwickel.
