Sprecher Hefe Weiss

Sprecher Hefe Weiss

This coarse filtered wheat ale is fermented with a German yeast culture for a refreshingly light spiciness and hints of citrus fruit. A cloudy appearance and an immense creamy head are characteristic of this lightly hopped Bavarian brew.

3.5 Hazy golden color with white head. Nice clove, banana, tart wheat aromas. Medium body. Clove, banana, yeasty flavors with a rich pale wheat base brew___tasty good.
3.7 smells yeasty, citrusy, wheat, a little banana clove. taste is very crisp, refreshing, like summer. Yeast, light spices, citrus, wheat. Smooth finish.
2.0 Nice beer has a bitter palate bread flavor. For wheat’s is clean. I really don’t have anything else
3.2 Bottle: Pours cloudy, dark yellow....with a tall, white head. Orange, banana aroma. Taste is banana, lemon, orange, spice. A little white-pepper bitter. Pretty tasty......though a little plain.
3.4 On tap @ the Über Tap Room in the Wisconsin Cheese Shop, Milwaukee. Murky dirty honey gold, fluffy white head. Aroma is lightly spicy, light banana. Light banana and spice, rustic lightly smoky or ashy notes. Lightly tart finish. Not bad.
3.0 bottle. hazy golden with small head. substantial banana and light clove. missing some complexity, but not bad.
3.1 Draft. Cloudy golden with medium white head. Aroma of citrus. Light body with notes of banana and citrus.
3.0 On tap at the Mineshaft in Hartford. As "crafty" as they get, but the pizza was fine. Pours yellowish orange with a white head. Some nice lacing. Aroma has bananas and lemon and clove. Taste follows, although less banana-y and more clove-y. Light bodied. Sweet and quite dry. Shrug, could be worse on a hot day.
3.2 Tasty indeed on a warm, humid summer day in Wisconsin. A lighter weight hefeweizen with a cloudy, gold color and pleasant sharpness. Enjoyed on tap at the Sprecher pub in Lake Geneva, WI.
3.5 Clouded yellow pour with an off-white head. Aroma is wheat and a touch of clove as is the taste. A little sweet. An ok tasting beer.
3.7 Very nice hefe with some clove and banana in the flavor, balanced nicely with the malts and some slight citrusy hops, Refreshing and clean.
3.2 Cloudy light golden with medium frothy white head which mostly dissipates leaving a small topping.. Aroma is sweet, almost ’sugary’ wheat (unless Im somehow misreading the banana?), some spice, touch of citrus. Flavor is much the same. Medium to light body. A little thin. Fairly creamy, just a bit of dryness in the finish. Good beer but doesn’t match the big boys across the way.
3.0 Aroma of lemon with a straw golden pour. Hazy straw dominates the aroma and sweet taste is complimented by a crisp easy finish. Overall a great summer happy hour beer
3.1 16oz twist-off bottle from Jungle Jim’s in Fairfield. Code on the bottle reads "000063913 123191542". Poured into my weizen glass. Mildly hazy golden-yellow color. Thin white head. Few splotches of lace. Lightly wheaty nose, with a hint of banana and spice. Medium body. Softer, kind of smooth carbonation, but the texture has a slight roughness to it. More dry in the finish. Some light banana, wheat, little spice, light vanilla aroma. Light to moderate sweet taste, kind of spicy. Solid hefeweizen over all. Good to enjoy with lunch, especially with the 16oz serving size
2.2 Not a dazzling beer, but thirst quinching all the same. The nose is where this beer lost most of its points for me. However, worth trying.
3.6 A good solid Hefeweizen to enjoy at the Sprecher Pub, totally stylistically correct, but not excpetional. Like it on tap out on the patio, but not something I would get elsewhere.
3.0 Pours a slightly cloudy yellow color with a medium fluffy white head that evaporates slowly. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus and wheat. Light body with flavors of banana, sweet spice and a bit of grassy hops. The finish is sweet with a short fruity aftertaste. Pretty average overall.
3.9 Picked up a few bottles after a tour of the brewery. This might be the best offering from Sprecher. A very good Hefe Weiss, that is creamy, with hints of clove, banana and citrus. A nice plus is 16 oz bottle.
2.7 Poured from the bottle into a standard pint glass, and was not prepared for the extra four ounces, so I took my first few sips before I was ready. Cloudy, and light yellow, the pour produced little to no head (though to be fair, the beer was cold.) The aroma of this weisse is in keeping with the style, with strong notes of citrus and banana. The carbonation is good and not overbearing. Taste-wise, Sprecher has produced a bitter beer with medium sourness, with a medium body. There is a slight spiciness that can be tasted on the back end of the brew, which lends some complexity, though a strong metallic taste at the forefront diminishes the experience.
3.5 On tap at Hop City in Birmingham, AL. Pours a hazy yellow color, good carbonation. Typical wheat and orange smell. First Sprecher I've tried, and it's a good hefe.
3.2 16oz, Sprecher bottle, twist-off. Hazy, golden yellow color, white head. Sweet, mature banana scent. Light tastes of fresh wheat. Airy body. Great for summer. Not like any Hefe I’ve had. Very good, well made. It is obvious its made to taste good. (3595)
4.2 Pours a cloudy yellow amber color with a mild scent of wheat. Has an almost organic like wheat and grain taste to it which is rather bold along with firm hints of orange. Rather filling and heavy in comparison to many hefeweizen beers. Definitely a good taste here, the only complaint I could really see anyone making is about the thicker volume the beer has.
3.7 Pours a gold straw color with a thick white head. Bready yeast aroma. Tart wheat cereal flavor. Slight carbonic bite. Very enjoyable beer.
3.1 Pretty typical hefeweizen, nose of bananas, citrus and wheat notes, maybe a little thinner than your typical hefeweizen.
2.9 Light yellow pour with strong white, foamy head. Aroma of yeast, grassy-hay and spicy notes, citrus. Taste is sour-spice with a little bitter at the end.
3.5 Tasted on tap at Sprecher’s Restaurant & Pub and I only had my mobile app and did not enter comments.
2.6 Bottle, BOTM club. Pours murky amber with a white foam ring. Bubblegum, ripe fruit aroma. Really spicy and a little too bitter for hefe. Medium-to-full body, thick texture, yeasty aftertaste. Didn’t really like it.
2.9 A slightly cloudy yellow body with a nice white head that had nice retention and good lacing. A strong spice note on the aroma and although aroma was pretty strong there was an off-putting aroma to it. Somewhat dirty! Flavor had some nice citrus notes to it, but they did seem to overshadow the wheat notes. A nice mouth feel, but I could not get over the aroma.
3.3 12oz bottle poured into a tulip glass. Cloudy golden color with a nice white fluffy head. Distinct clove aroma with fresh peaches and bananas and slight citrus. Sweet fruity taste (nectarine) with refreshing wheat tang, light tartness and low bitterness. Medium bodied, quenching, some creaminess and quite pleasing. decent hefe.
3.2 Bottle in 47B courtesy of Andy. Pours a semi opaque dark apple juice color. Aroma is a little lemony and grassy; same goes for the palate, some sweet grassy and fruity flavors but not a lot of yeast or zest which is what I like in a hefe. Easy drinking, pretty good taste, but I wouldn’t seek it out again when looking for a hefe.
