3.0 Clear orange with white head. Aroma is sweet and syrupy. Taste is caramel and toast. Not bad.
3.3 Clear medium amber. Medium creamy white head. Aroma is mainly malty, caramel, some toastiness, some light citrus. Sweet. Flavor much the same; sweet, malty, lightly hoppy. Somewhat hopped dry finish. Medium soft body. Definitely one of Sprecher’s better beers.
3.1 very sweet, malt, caramel, hops. taste and smell pretty much the same, but tastes a little sweeter than the smell. Fairly smooth, decent.
3.1 16 oz bottle pours an amber color with a small white head. Aromas of biscuits, caramel, malt, light floral. Medium bodied, malt driven, good example on the style
3.9 Poured from a 16 oz bottle. Nice copper color with a good white bread that reduces to an ample cap. Great malt taste with a bit of citrus. Great example of the style. A good purchase and a perfect beer for the day.
2.7 Bottle - fair size foamy head, medium gold color, sweet malty aroma and flavor, mild floral hops - not bad but nothing special
3.5 Clear light copper with a foamy/rocky white head. Aroma is toasty and biscuity with just a little dash of clove honey, and maybe some lavendar. Flavor lacks a little something something, bringing mostly lager-like biscuityness and honeyed toast. Nice finish though, clean and lingering with a little sweetness and floral lavendar.
3.1 16 oz bottle pours an almost clear orange/amber color with small off-white head and a bit of lacing. Aroma is mostly malty: caramel, molasses, biscuit,, but some citrus hops.Taste is neither sweet nor bitter. Medium body and average carbonation.
3.5 This poured an amber color with a white head. The aroma contains some citrus, caramel, and candy sugars. The flavor is both sweet and bitter with some citrus showing up along with caramel and a bit of molasses and buscuit.. This seems to be spot on for the style and went well with my spicy bratwurst. Overall good beer.
4.0 16 ounce bottle into lager glass, bottled on 1/26/2012. Pours lightly hazy golden orange color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of carbonation streaming up retaining the head. Aromas of caramel, apple, pear, toast, toffee, biscuit, light nuttiness, floral, light pepper, and herbal earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, pear, apple, pepper, toast, toffee, biscuit, light nuttiness, floral, and herbal earthiness. Lingering notes of caramel, light fruits, pepper, toast, toffee, biscuit, light nuttiness, floral, and herbal earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice flavor balance with good complexity; good amount of robustness; and zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy, smooth, and fairly crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with nearly zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice maibock! Very nice balance and robustness of flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering; and great example of the style.
3.9 Pours a beautiful clear amber color with a thick foamy head. Has the scent of wheat and sweet caramel malts. Taste is that of mostly malts with slight hints of citrus. Taste is rather mild in comparison to other Mai Bocks I’ve had. Slight bit of a dry after taste but still rather well made.
3.7 Poured a slightly hazy golden amber with a tall creamy off-white head that had good retention. There were lots of carbonation bubbles rising up in the glass. A nice fragrant aroma predominately yeasty with some floral tangerine, caramel and toffee. The beer had a good body and good carbonation There was a good malty caramel sweetness with a hint of a hops bitterness initially. The fruity hops flavor and bitterness built in the middle. The fruity flavor faded towards the finish, but the hops bite lingered well into the finish that was more like the traditional lager crisp finish.
3.4 Couldn’t pass up a case of the 16oz bottles on sale at my favorite distributor for $20 even - steal of a deal. Pours a clear light brown with slight offwhite head. Aroma very malty with a lot of that cherry medicinal aroma I always associated with mai bocks. Flavor is relatively light and a bit watery, dark cherry notes are more subdued with a tad bit of yeastiness and a slight boozy warm finish. Overall, not a ton of depth, but a very drinkable maibock.
3.0 12oz bottle. Poured a clear coppper color with a solid white lasting head. Aroma is caramel malt and floral hops, with just a touch of lemon zest. Taste is a nicely balanced with bready malt and bittering hops that impart a floral character. Medium bodied with mild carbonation.
3.1 16 ounce bottle from State Line. Pours an amber color with a very slight haze. Medium sized frothy head. Decent head retention. Aroma of grainy, toasty malts and stone fruits. The taste is stone fruits, toasted malts, tinny notes and herbal notes. Medium bodied. Decent.
3.7 Hazy, amber/orange appearance with a large, off white head and decent lacing. Yeasty, sweet, caramel malt aroma with notes of apple and honey. Mild floral hops are dominated by grainy, sweet malts and crisp fruit flavors. Funky, medium bodied, well carbonated mouthfeel leading to a lingering finish.
3.2 As smelly as this beer is, it actually has a sweet, slightly malty mouth feel. It has a pale orange color with a frothy white head and an aroma of light caramel malts and lager yeast. In the mouth, it has a slight oxidized flavor, but is predominantly a sweetly-malted lager with an almost creamy body and a dry, almost champagne-like finish. Not bad!
3.0 Light orange, quick white head. Malt and soft fruit in the nose. Medium sweet on the tongue. Taste is alcohol, malt, and a hint of citrus. Finishes with a brace of hops. Great with ham and rye with Colemans mustard.
4.0 This is a crisp and smooth maibock. Nice aftertaste and rich middle makes this a malty good drink.
2.9 Bottle. Aroma was of a watery, fruity, caramel nature. Color was a deep golden with a quickly disappearing head. Flavor was like a flowery candy corn.
4.7 bottle. clear orange with a large white head. buttery caramel and pear juice with huge florals in aroma. palate is malty and chewy with a medium body. leaves a nice floral and red apple finish with loads of floral hops and buttered toffee malt flavors. just perfect. bravo!...what a beer.
3.4 16oz bottle from Whip In. Pours a nice amber, very little head, no lacing (sounds like this is unusual for this beer). Sweet and rich smell. Taste is good for an everyday beer, nothing too remarkable, but cool and refreshing.
3.9 Pours a nice copper color with a lot of head. Frothy and foamy. Malty and spicy nose. Very refreshing taste with a sweet malt beginning backed up with adequate hop bitterness. There’s a nice hint of orange peel in the finish and the lacing is good. A badass beer.
3.7 Bottle. Pours a rich, hazy orange-gold with a high, fine-grained head that leaves lace. The nose is toffee, fruit, violets, and toasted grain. Very crisp on the tongue with a bright, almost citrusy acidity; finishes long and clean, with enough hops to keep it honest. Perfect for a cool-off after an evening at a still, humid baseball game.
3.3 Poured a slightly hazy amber color with a thin white head. Aroma has lots of honey and apples with some pale malts. Taste has lots of honey as well. Some syrupy flavors with grains and malts. Maybe a little too sweet but quite flavorful.
3.8 12 oz bottle pours golden with a white head. Aroma of yeast, citrus and a bit of hops. Taste is sweet malt.
3.8 Pours a pretty golden color. Smell is of biscuts and malts. Taste is also malty, some biscuts, light hops. Overall an enjoyable beer.
4.4 Nice subtle caramel and flowery aroma. Amber, clear color with a nice tight head. Nice lace. Taste is sweet and creamy, with a soft finish. I love this beer. Best served on tap (at my house every Spring).
2.7 Bottle. Clear reddish amber pour witha nice fluffy white head. Aroma is floral, sweet honey, and malty. Medium to light palate. Taste is very malty with sweet sugars. Probably pretty good for its style, but this just isn’t a style I gravitate to.
3.3 Bottle. Amber with a nice soft foam head. Biscuity honey malt scent with some hops. Big body and flavour. Strong malt with a heavy dark candy edge.
