3.5 Sampled at Northgate Andover beer tasting. This is a decent IPA - very sessionable. Good safe balance of hops and malts. Middle-of-the-road in a good way.
3.5 Bottle @ Squatters. Clear orange pour with white foam. Grass and orange peel hop aromas at first. Kind of sweet and peachy, too. There’s a nice bit of bread, a hint of caramel, and some light pine. It’s not bad, but sweeter than I usually like in an IPA...still, good citrus qualities and some nice hints of fruit in there. Not bad.
3.4 Bottle from dustin....very enjoyable beer....slightly malt heavy but enough hops for good balance....
3.2 Aroma: mango, papaya, pine, herbs. Appearance: slightly hazy golden color, thin white head. Taste: medium/low bitterness (resin and citrus), some citrus notes, thin malty backbone, quite dry. Palate: medium bodyand medium carbonation, bitter finish. Overall: Decent IPA, but taste should me more complex and refreshing.
3.3 Rated based on notes taken 31 Aug 2012 -- Bottle into a glass. Good IPA. Drinks good in Texas heat.
3.2 12 oz bottle from Hy-Vee Wine & Spirits - Muscatine. Clear orange appearance with a white head and light lacing. Aroma of resinous hops, pine, grass and light citrus. Similar flavor, moderate to heavy hop bitterness balanced by a moderate malt sweetness. Medium body, a little syrupy on the palate with a mild sweet, lasting finish. Decent IPA.
3.6 Aroma of pine, and hops with a hint of citrus. Pours a caramel color with a lasting white foamy head. A fruity taste with a hint of pine and hops. A dry chalky feel with a mildly bitter finish.
3.5 Clear orange pour from 12oz bottle. Apricot malt and lemon aroma. Taste is mild hops. Fruity. Citrus. Good.
3.3 Pours a slightly hazy golden orange color with whitr head. Citrus, floral notes, and just a hint of grass on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a bit of malt and not a big hop bite.
3.3 Hazy orange-brown pour with a two finger, creamy off white head that has great retention and leaves some grainy lacing. Aroma is caramel, toast, light nutty notes, bright, sweet citrus notes and light berry notes. Flavor is caramel, toast, husky grain, spicy and citrus hops and mineral notes. A little pine and light medicinal notes come out as it warms. Light to medium body, medium, sharp carbonation, fairly dry feel throughout with a surprising hop acid bite, despite not tasting or smelling all that hoppy, or being all that bitter. Decent overall.
4.0 Bottle pours hazy orange with lasting lace. Big malty IPA flavors - marmalade, especially - soft hops, with a malty rather than dry finish. Overall, a nice beer for those IPA lovers looking for big flavor and soft hops.
2.8 "this beers ok. the last reviewer says "delicate hops". that’s a nicer way to say that it’s a tad underwhelming. closer to a pale than an ipa, especially if you’re a hophead."
3.5 Bottle from Utah liquor store park city. Pours orange with a half inch of white foam. leaves a fair amount of lacing. nice citrus notes on the nose. has a bit of hop bite on the tongue. finishes clean. solid example of style.
3.2 12 oz. bottle at Outlaws in Watford. Appearance: finger white head, straw yellow color, clear, ok lacing. Aroma: floral, orange citrus, light caramel. Palate: medium body, average carbonation, bitter finish, sticky texture. Taste: light sweet caramel and light citrus sweetness, into heavy floral bitterness. Overall, decent beer, balance is off a bit, and the malty sweetness is lackluster. Worth trying, but not ideal.
3.4 Draft pour. Hazy golden pour. Creamy white head with thick lacing. Aroma is earthy, pine, grassy, a bit of orange zest. Taste is bitter, orange rind, grass. Dry pine needle finish.
3.4 Hazy golden orange. Citrusy hop aroma. Syrupy malt stickiness. Hops are taking a bit of a backseat, but citrusy and bitter. Decent, tastes a bit old but just purchased
3.4 12 oz bottle from Santa shared with the group. Pours a clear golden color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor leans more toward the malt side, some toasted character, mildly sweet cookie malts, some citrus and grassy hops, decent.
3.5 Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured clear golden color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy sour citrus hop aroma. Medium body with a slick texture with soft carbonation. Moderate bittersweet flavor with a moderate bittersweet finish of medium duration. Good brew.
3.7 Bottle with jackl. Clear golden yellow color, big fluffy white head with nice retention and lacing. Aroma of bright qumquat and summer fruit. Taste is bitter fruit and citrus. Light body.
2.6 Bottle to glass. Pale copper color with quickly dissipating white head. Aroma is piney, grassy hops with a honey and caramel malt backbone. I don’t get the grapefruit I have seen in the other ratings. In aroma or taste. Taste is piney, grassy, slightly earthy hops with caramel and honey malts. Well balanced, moderate bitterness. Palate is medium body, not the best carbonation, feels a bit lacking. Average.
3.6 Received as gift from St Regis Deer Valley. Pours a light gold with moderate head - lighter than typical pale ale. Big nose with lemon and grapefruit. Very flavorful with grapefruit and lemon peel up front, followed by some bready malts - not really any bitterness on the finish. Enjoyable.
3.3 Bottle share W/ Travlr. Gold pour with a small head. Lemon peel, sugar cookies. Flower bulbs. Taste of honey nut cheerios. Apples. Green shoots. light body, active carb.
3.4 Bottle from Hazel’s beverage world. Amber color, white head. Bitter taste with citrus, hops, malts, caramel and peach. Bitter finish with citrus, caramel and peach. Good English style IPA.
3.0 Pours a hazy thick attractive orange with medium offwhite head and yeast floaties. Smell is amber ale like crystal malt, tea and hops. Taste is tea and medium hop bitterness with kind of a dull hop flavor. Not particularly fresh, or fruity from the hops, but overall it is decent. Full body and prickly carbonation. Just not my prefered flavor profile.
2.8 12 oz bottle, best by 7/16/14. Pours slightly hazy golden orange with a big meringue white head that retains well and laces the glass. The aroma is sweet bready malts with some grassy hops. The flavor is sweet toasted malts with some grassy bitterness and a little fruit. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation. Overall, it’s very subdued and sweet and grassy.
3.6 bottle - Pours orange with a large dense head and has a good grapefruit hop aroma. The flavor is moderate to high bitterness with citrus and some up front malt sweetness. It’s medium bodied with fine carbonation and overall a very solid IPA.
3.3 5/18/2014: Light orange body with white head and lacing. Juicy fruit, malts, a touch of hops in the aroma. Taste is not very bitter, more on the malt side for an IPA, at least the bottle I tried. Re-rate: 5/2/2015: I like the candy finish on this. Looks the same as my first rating, but while it’s not super bitter, it does have a splash of Belgian candy note or bubblegum on the finish ,and resin, which I liked. Upped the rating a bit.
4.0 Draft @ Culinary Dropout. During 25 Years Anniversary ISKL reunion with the Polhemuses. Solid IPA. Food Pairing: Pretzel Fondue.
3.9 Bottle. Nose is citrus and grapefruit. Clean. Maybe a little too malt forward for my liking.
3.7 Awesome pine, citrus, dank aroma. Low malt, low esters. Beer poors hazy gold with a persistent white head. Good malt presence, but bitterness dominates flavor appropriately. Surprisingly low hop flavor, but grapefruit flavors come through. Medium body, drying texture, very lively, and a nice bitter finish. Overall a very approachable IPA with great aroma and supporting malt
