St. Austell Admirals Ale

St. Austell Admirals Ale

Cask; Occasional & bottle conditioned.
Originally brewed as a special to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Nelson’s victory at Trafalgar in 1805. However, production of the bottled version and, occasionally, the cask has continued.
This premium bottle-conditioned ale has been uniquely brewed using our own Cornish Gold malt. Locally grown barley is traditionally malted using a special kilning process which develops a deeper intensity of colour and flavour than ordinary barley malt. Blended with both Styrian Golding and Cascade hops, the result is a deep bronze ale with a delicious rich biscuit flavour and a wonderful spicy aroma.

4.0 From Hipercor. In Ikea’s pint glass. After dinner. Caramel with spicy notes and a strongly grassy hoppy finish. Nice effervescence, zesty and refreshing. Drinks very well, totally sessionable
3.2 Bottle. Sweet malt aroma with some grass. Taste is more grass and sweet malt. Some fruity notes together with some yeast. I like them more bitter, this is more on the sweet side.
3.1 Bottle from Beers of Europe [251216] Copper brown, clear, thin white head Aroma of fruity caramel, hint of zest, soft red berries Taste of fruity caramel, raisin, toasted malts, dab of red berries, touch of toffee Palate - Soft carb, medium body. Finish is a bit dry, toasted biscuit malts, bitter bit earthy hops Overall - Brown ale, fruity malts, some toasty malts, biscuit, OK.
3.1 Bottle at ash’s. Pours reddish amber, nose is caramel, toffee, floral, taste is similar, sweet, little fizzy.
3.3 Bottle from Beers of Europe. Appearance - amber to red. Decent head. Nose - oranges and fudge. Taste - more oranges. Light shortbread and toffee at the back. Palate - light bodied with a creamy texture.Ok finish. Overall - ok.
3.4 Bottle shared with Ashton McCobb and Stuu666. Pours clear amber with a thin white head. Aromas of sweet malts, faint nuts. Taste is nutty, bit of yeast. Sweet finish.
2.0 Sampled at SBWF 2015. Thinn off white head. Clear amber color. Mild caramell taste with lots of residual sweetness. Medium body and a low bitterness. A bit mainstream / booring.
3.7 Clear mahogany look, medium off-white head. Decent retention. Floral hops, caramel, black tea, candy. Medium body. Dry flavour with notes of herbal hops, nuts, dried fruit, tea, sunflower seeds. Medium bitterness that gets weaker in middle taste. Complex. Interesting. -- rated with beerbasher/winphone
3.0 From tap, at FOB in Rimini, Italy. Color is blonde with white foam. Aroma has some peach and apricot. Body is light. Taste has some bittersweet, but not much else. As expected, absent sparkleness. -- rated with beerbasher/winphone
3.9 Bought it as it’s the only British Beer available anywhere in town apart from brewdog. It was a real treat, caramel, quite bitter. Reminded me of Nethergate, but it’s been a while. But blimey they charged 10€ a 500mL bottle, twice the price of any other beer in the place, no idea why (well it might be that someone read the blurb on the back about celebrating the battle of Trafalgar).
3.4 beautiful clear beer to drink. The texture is soft and caramel flavorful. The hops added give it a little different taste than similar beers. Quite wonderful. Gift from Uckelman
3.1 500ml bottle at home in Richmond, as ’St. Austell Admirals Ale’, 5%, BB Apr 2017, bottle conditioned. Dark amber orange brown, translucent, pretty still, quickly diminishing head. Aroma is cola, papery, sugary. Body is light and smooth with soft carbonation. Taste up front is demerara sugar, some browning apple, rounded malt, flinty, dusty, minerally. When left out for a while, the malt character becomes a lot richer and toffee-ish, which led to me increasing the rating slightly.
3.3 Color ámbar oscuro. Espuma blanca, poco persistente. Aroma a caramelo, toques a tabaco, tostado. Sabor dulce, caramelo, amargor alto.
2.5 2 bottles, clear mahogany, one with more carbonation than the other Malty with a slight caramel and tobacco after taste, it’s bottle conditioned but very clear and no sediment A Mediocre beer, on the good side of mediocre.
2.9 W aromacie czuję trochę likerowego alkoholu z nutami ciemnych suszonych owoców. W smaku jakby woda sodowa z saturatora z odrobiną soku z jakiegoś ciemnego owocu. Lekkie i pijalne. Dobrze gasi pragnienie i smakuje lepiej niż woda.
3.5 Bottle at home, 22/08/16. Rich chestnut brown with reddish hues topped with a solid beige cap - a good looking beer but lacks the retention to garner a top mark in the appearance stakes. Nose is dates, sticky toffee pudding, fruit loaf, light spice, stewed prunes. Taste comprises toffee, dates, Soreen malt loaf, biscuit, mellow fruits, brown bread. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying close with a mellow fruit rinse. Solid ESB.
4.0 Bottle, 50 cl, bought at "upper glass", Mannheim. Well-balanced ESB in all aspects. Would definitely have again.
3.2 Bottle (from beer gonzo). Pours brownish amber. Aroma is sweet, malty, fruity, caramel. Flavor is sweet and bitter, caramel, fruity, earthy notes. Overall: ok.
3.1 Bottle shared by Mart, thanks! Clear dark brownish copper beer, small white head. Nose is caramel, malt, biscuity notes. Flavor begins somewhat watery, but the middle of the taste has a decent caramel tone to it, finishes malt and watery again, with a soft hop profile.
Geschmack verbrannt, leich Kakao. Stark karbonisiert. Leicht wässrig.
3.4 Naturally conditioned bottle. Medium-dark, malty beer. Rather a sweeter and more caramely maltiness than most of St. Austell’s bitter type ales which I found very pleasant. Would like to try on draught.
3.5 Cask @ Watermill Inn bf, Leylant, Cornwall, deep bronze with white head amalty biscuit taste and a malty aftertaste nice beer.
3.2 500ml bottle from Tesco. Nutty brown colour with a thin white head. Sweet malty aroma, taste is biscuity, malt, spicy finish. Decent
3.2 Bottle 50cl. @ LaBIRRAtorium, Madrid, Spain. A: Amber. T: Malt, fruity, bitter.
3.3 Butelka 0,5l Kolor rubinowy, piana średnia. Aromat ziemi, karmelu i owoców suszonych.
3.4 Bottle. Pours clear amber with airy but stable off-white head. Clear aroma of fruit and malt, with notes of caramel and touches of honey. Bitter, hoppy flavour with sweetish notes of fruit and malt and touches of yeast and bread. Bitter afteraste with malty and estery notes. Decent for the style.
