St. Bernardus Pater 6

St. Bernardus Pater 6

Bottle: Unfiltered

Abbey Ale

Ingredients: Water, barley malt, sugar, hops, yeast

A traditional abbey style dubbel, chestnut in colour, very fruity with notes of melon and very fresh banana, finishing with slight bitterness. Delightfully easy to drink. One of the original recipes from the days of license-brewing for the Trappist monks of Westvleteren

3.4 Bottle from the Belgian Beer Shop, Leuven. An easy going nice dubbel. Balancing the sweetness and bitterness well, it doesnt punch in any particuarl direction. Good lasting foam and colour. Enjoyed the accompanying st bernadus cheese with it.
4.1 Dunkelbraune Farbe mit weißer Schaumkrone. Malziger, röstmalziger, fruchtiger Geruch. Geschmacklich malzig, röstmalzig, fruchtig mit getrockneten Früchten & Karamell, leicht hopfig. Mittlere Süße mit mittlerer Bitterkeit, mittlerer Körper mit lebhafter Kohlensäure.
4.2 Pours a deep mahogany coloration with a reddish sheen and a medium, fluffy head. Smells of bready, slightly roasted and caramel malt, dark fruits and estery spice, with notes of raisin, plum and clove. Taste is an excellent balance of bready, slightly roasted and caramel malt and distinct dark fruit and estery spice, with notes of raisin, plum, fig, clove and black pepper, as well as hints of licorice and bitter, herbal hops. Finishes with a light bitterness and some bready malt, dark fruits and estery spice lingering in the aftertaste. Full mouthfeel with a medium/rich body and medium carbonation. I think this may well be my favorite Dubbel, although I would need to have it side-by-side with Westmalle to be sure. The flavor profile is similar here, not feeling too sweet and being a bit more on the roasted and bitter side, with some distinct dark fruit and estery spice notes. There's just a lovely overall balance to this, while it feels quite rich and complex for such a relatively low ABV beer as well. Overall, this makes for an excellent Dubbel that rich in character, with a great, subtle balance between sweet, bitter and spicy notes.
3.5 33cl bottle pours a dark, chestnut brown with some creamy, thick off white head. Nose has malt and marzipan and dates and raisins and candy. Flavor has some tootsie roll and all that dark, dries fruit. Some port notes even, turbinado sugar. Finishes full bodied and sweet.
3.4 Fles.
2.9 Light sweet aroma of blackberries, blackcurrant & slightly touch of banana. Dark brown with a very long lasting light brown head. Light sweet, light sour taste with a slightly dry finish. Light body, slick texture & average carbonation.
W zapachu chlebowo, pieprznie, banan, troche goździków, mocno estrowo, a'la dojrzałe jabłka. W smaku karmelki, troche pieczone jabłko, delikatnie banan. Ogólnie mocno karmelkowe, całkiem słodkie, lekko pieprzne.
3.8 Malty indeed. Lovely looker. Keeps thin white head. Slight alcohol but sometimes do t know it’s there. Enjoying it with cheese. Bit sweet in the fruits too. Served room temp at North Berwick . Maybe slightly chilled next time? Thinner than expected from the hype . Nice but expected more ?
3.9 Burnt amber pour under a fizzy non lacing head. Cocoa cola colored. Fresh fruity nose. Sweet and sour taste is instant then follows with a dissipating bite on the tongue. Carbonation comes up comfortably after every gulp. Spicy pears or tangy notes. ABV subtlety warming. Dry finish with ingredients pleasantly there.
3.7 Light roasty malt. Abit of banana and toffee. Soft carbonation. Oak. Herbal. Dark fruits. Raisins. Light-medium bitter and dry finish.
Aroma a malta, especias y fruta. En boca predomina el dulzor.
4.2 An initial fruity bouquet with a good head disguises the deep rich roasted malt which opens up when you sip this smooth Trappist Ale. Swallows with an overall clean pallet.
3.9 Deep malty dubbel notes of bannana and maybe toffee no doubt a classic beer highly recommended
3.6 330 ml bottle from an online store. Pours a nice dark colour with a ton of yellow head, as expected. Aroma of tons of banana esters with some caramel and dark malts; taste of banana esters, nice roasted malts and some balancing astringency in coffee. I do love my malt bombs!
3.2 Botella 330ml Color marron oscuro, espuma beige, fina, alta, resistente. Aroma banana, frutal, especias, levadura. Sabor dulce con notable amargor y acidez ligero, banana, frutal, frutas secas, especias, levadura, cuerpo medio. No mola mucho
3.7 Bottle @ Multatuli, Ghent. Deep dark brown colour, creamy beige foam. Nose of roasted malts, caramel, dried fruit. Bitter and sweet, some fruitiness. Great dubbel.
3.5 330ml bottle from We Brought Beer, Tooting. Dark brown with a beige head. Very heavy on the carbonation, which is a touch rough. Aroma of toffee, oak, vanilla pod and chewy malt. Dried fruit, dates and caramel in the flavour. Nice, sweetish linger.
3.9 Bottle from Big C Liquors in Winter Park, FL. Aroma is spiced bread, yeasty eaters, toasted fruit bread. Taste is lively yeast, bready, fruity, cloves. Classic Belgian breads.
1.9 Ber brá av Classic, veikan smakk.
4.1 330ml bottle. Pours a deep brown with medium amounts of off white head. Mild toffee notes with roasted malts on the nose. Medium body With rich sweetness and toffee at the front. Mellow malts at the back and subtle hints of alcohol.
4.5 @ Home - ordine Cantina della Birra 4.21
3.9 330ml bottle. Dark brown, moderate sized beige head, good consistent retention. Aroma of malts, toffee, stone fruits, banana, grass. Taste is at first subtle but the flavours are noticeably layered and its very moreish. Medium bodied and a lovely soft carbonation.
4.4 Nice dark brown in colour. Smells fruity and malty. Taste is malty, Banana, caramel and winter spice. Slightly refreshing also. Lovely Belgium beer!
3.5 Strong Amber colour with a lasting pale froth. Aroma; yeast and Barley, little spice notes. Taste; pleasing bitterness, yeast and clove/winter spice on the pallete. Slight orange note and herbal notes. Good Abbey ale, the monks know how to brew a good strong beer or an even stronger barley wine ... Buckfast anyone!
