3.6 DWG; Pours cloudy amber to copper with a large creamy, lasting lacing off-white to tan head. Nose is light smoked malt, caramel, yeast and spice. Taste is sweet, light bitter, light to moderate spicy and lasting. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
3.4 Belgian beer with a yeasty fruity body and some spicyness. Enjoyable, not very memorable.
2.3 Good first impression , the taste falls off too fast. A first taste of liquorice and leather.
3.2 75cl flaska. guld orange färg med massiv skumkrona. Helt ok.
Honning-noter.
3.6 Bottle at home. Cloudy amber body with a medium head. Hops, malt, herbal notes, spices, caramel notes. Nice and refreshing.
3.5 [Bottle (330ml) shared with HogTownHarry & biegaman -- c/o HogTownHarry] Pours a slightly hazy golden-orange with a small diminishing frothy off-white head. Nice and fruity aroma along with some spices, caramel malt, some sugary sweetness and toffee. Flavour of yeast, dark fruit, a bit of sugar and caramel malt. Average to medium bodied. This bottle is at least 5 years old and has held up really well.
3.5 A nice floral aroma. Flavor is fruity sweet with a sour aftertaste and a dry finish. Color is golden amber with a white head.
3.2 my goodness knows how old 330ml bottle shared with blankboy and biegaman. Clear deep amber with a solid frothy beige head - nice. Aroma has thinned out a bit - very light yeast, candied fruit and some residual alcohol - was probably pretty amazing when fresh (6yrs old?). Taste - roasty, a little thin, slightly soy-ish, sour candy - interesting. Slick, thick, undercarbonated, a little harsh in the finish.
2.7 Huge, slowly diminishing, fluffy off-white head that leaves some lacing. Lovely, clear copper/amber colour. Aroma of Belgian ale yeast, sweet melon, yellow apple, ripe pear, pineapple, caramel. Medium body, soft/lively carbonation. Semi-sweet fruity-yeasty taste with a mild, dusty bitterness and hint of menthol. Long bitter-sweet aftertaste.
3.3 Large frothy sustained off-white head over a clear nut-brown-red beer. Medium plus aroma intense offering of banana, rose hip, sweet malt with some herby hay and faint sourness. Medium carbonation, medium bodied, a little oily on the palate with bitterness dominating other flavours that include bread, anise or such spices, discreet fruit, hollow midpalate. The bitterness feels a little crude and impure, something faint metallic, finish a bit short, otherwise it’s an ok beer with useful weight and refreshing qualities.
3.1 Bottle @ home shared with Dutchdrebus. Clear reddish color, small white head. Aroma is a bit weird. Hard to describe: lightly malts, toffee, toasted malts, slightly leaves. Taste toasted malts, slightly leaves, a herbal bitterness and again something weird I can’t put my finger on. Medium body and carbonation. .
3.5 Bottle @ Benzai during Ned - Col. Slightly hazy orange to amber colour with a medium to big sized off-white head. Smells herbs, malts, spices, slightly yeasty, slightly minty. Tastes some apricot, tropical fruits, malts, some iron, slightly hoppy. Nice beer! Medium body, soft carbo.
2.9 Bottled 6.5%, BB 22.01.15, large sample. Slight hazy amber color, medium lasting off-white head. Aroma of peppery belgian yeast quite typical of st feuillien, hint of licorice and anise, slight flowery hop. Bit dry taste, bit sweet, bit bitter, slight metallic hint. The peppery belgian yeast together with some darker malts seems to give a slight metallic tart finish. Not my kind of beer.
3.4 Bottle pours amber with white head. Aroma is spizy yeast caracter with bready malt. Flavour is spizy and phenolic yeast caracter with a very dry finish.
Merci St Feuillen....
3.6 Bottle @ Home. Pours amber with a creamy white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, yeast, licorice, brown sugar, spice. Flavor is malt, yeast, caramel, spice, licorice. Medium body, lively carbonation. 140310
4.0 Appearance: I do not know if I have ever seen such a good looking beer as this one! Clear (or hazy with bottom sediments) deep orange brownish (or orange red amber – difficult to describe) color with a fine white head that leaves a fine lacing. Well probably it had a little cognac look a like color. Aroma: Caramel malty, some yeast and a bit spicy. Palate: Medium + body. Mild round sweetness, and a moderate bitterness. Average to soft carbonation. Taste: A bit sweet malty, mild fruity, yeast and some spices. Well hidden alcohol. Overall impression: A fine and very well balanced Belgian strong ale. Fresh and tasty. You just want more. And god damn good looking as well! Personal stats: Bottle from Vinmonopolet Nettorder, Norway.
3.5 Bottle shared with ClubGonzo. Has a clear orange amber colour, with a light beige medium head. There is a lot of anise in the aroma along with other spices, a little hay and caramel, and Belgian yeast in the background. The taste is similar with the addition of citrus, hops and more Belgian yeast. Mouth feel is smooth and rich, with a light to medium bitterness. The beer is complex enough and has a nice balance and is sweet and spicy.
3.4 Bottle, shared with Foffern. Clear amber body with a medium creamy off-white head. Aroma is star anis, sugary raisins, candi sugar, hints of caramel and syrup. Sweet, but barely acceptable. Taste is bitter herbal star anis tones up front, then licorice, candi sugars and hints of caramel. Despite the sweet flavors, it somehow retains a certain balance; perhaps due to the spice additions. Medium body and carbonation. Nice, but only if you’re a fan of anise flavors in beer.
3.5 Bottle from Vinmonopolet, june 16th 2013. Hazy dark orange body, small white head. Light aroma of spicy yeast, peach, caramel. Taste is quite tropical fruity, with plums, yeast and pepper. Nice hoppy finish, with a bitter and sweet aftertaste.
3.2 Bottle @ home. Aroma is fruity and spicy hops, some malty notes in the back. Flavour is mild hop bitterness, herbal notes, some liquorice and old malt. Seems old.
3.0 Orange and hazy beer. Makes a big head but it disappears quickly. Aromas of pears, anise and Belgian yeast. A bit too sugary sweet and could use more bitter hops.
3.0 Huge lasting deep offwhite head. Clear amber body with strong carbonation. Fruity herbal licorice aroma with coriander notes. Dryish dense earthy herbal licorice taste with spicy coriander notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish aftertaste is like the main taste, maybe a bit more metal. Decent, but a bit dense and harsh. (0.33l bottle, wine monopoly.)
3.5 Bottle. Pours a brown beer with a nice, almost creamy white head on top. Aroma is spicey with some mild, fruity yeasty notes. Flavor is quite rich and full. Malty sweet with a typical yeasty tart finish. Well carbonated, decent mouthfeel but a sort finish. Quite a surprise!
3.4 Slightly sweet fruity nose. Pale beige head. Pale coppery color. Mild hops. Warming alcohol. Some hints of spices.
3.8 Om bottle from Vinmonopolet Stovner. Golden transparent, good foam. Good aroma intensity; fruity, floral, mild honey, some malt and Nice yeast influence. Medium body & medium/ high complexity. Medium viscosity. Some sweetness, but very well balanced . Very enjoyable
