St-Feuillien Grand Cru

St-Feuillien Grand Cru

Grand Cru is a speciality beer carefully crafted by Belgium’s St Feuillien Brewery. This extra-blond amber nectar masterpiece undergoes refermentation in the bottle, resulting in a beer endowed with unforgettable character. The secret lies in the unique combination of the most noble hops and the finest aromatic ingredients. Grand Cru differs from other beers in the range by its absence of spices. Its full, white head is light and frothy, and when poured it creates a subtle lace effect.
The very pale colour of Grand Cru lends clarity and brilliance to its body.

Grand Cru’s delicate nose is a veritable cascade of hoppy aromas with hints of fruitiness coupled with subtlety and sheer richness.

When savoured, the first sip is light and intriguing. The next impression is one of a slight bitterness full of captivating nuances. When it hits the palate, Grand Cru creates a lingering moment of hoppiness, rounded off by an intense yet pleasant bitterness.

3.9 Bottle 33 cl. Pours a clear golden with a big and slowly fading white head and an aroma of banana , flowers, spices, sweet malts and grass. The taste is medium sweet with a medium yo big body, Lively carbonation and a long lastig complex bitter finish. Really good!
3.8 Bottle from Beer Merchants. BB Apr 2023; Drank July 2022 - Clear yellow gold. Good white head. Yeasty; brett. Spicy; pepper, cloves. Hoppy; grassy, floral. Fruity; lemon citrus, banana. Malty; straw, bread. Quite dry. Good balance. Sweet-bitter yeasty spicy hoppy fruity. Complex. Rather good. Enjoyed this. (2022-07)
4.0 Golden with a big head that eventually dissipates, leaving a medium head. Slightly sweet and full bodied. A classy beer beer that needs to be seriously respected. Enjoyed this one a lot.
2.4 Witte kop, helder lichtgeel, licht bittere florale geur, granige licht bittere citrus smaken. Sprankelend mondgevoel.
3.9 Pour is a hazy gold with a huge white head. Aroma is a flowery and parfumy yeast ester. Flavor is clover honey with a nice green herbal hop. Finish is bitter on the back end and no alcohol is felt. A mix between a saison, triple and golden strong. Not a cheap bottle of beer but well worth to try for those that like this style.
3.9 Golden pour with a decent head and decent carbonisation. Aromas of hops, herbs, white bread, some banana. Tastes similar with a short bitter aftertaste. The ABV carries the flavours nicely. Liked it.
Fles # V '22 Proefglas
4.2 Nice and hoppy aroma. Little bit like a nastro azzuro. Dispute the high alcohol percentage, nothing in the taste, also just little yeast in the taste. Drinks good at chilled temperature, but not a fat drinking beer.
4.1 Mooi gebalanceerd.
4.4 Servida en tulipa. Disfrútala con calma ,deja que coja temperatura y embriagate con sus aromas 'belgas'... una delicia.
3.6 33cl bottle from hopt.it, France. Pours loaded gold, transparent, with large white bubbles. Aroma is intensely yeasty, orange peel, spiced, cereal. Body is slightly dense, but moderated by intense carbonation. Taste is medium-high sweet. Final is fairly short.
3.7 330ml bottle from We Brought Beer, Tooting. Hazed blonde beer. Aroma has definite leafy hop nose with banana and clove. Nice, full body with lots of spicy flavours. The hops come through as pure dank and work really well.
3.2 Fruitig biertje, best wel lekker. Schuimig. Goed te drinken.
3.7 Ampolla 33 cl Hopt. Maltosa, un pèl massa dolça, punt especiat final. Alcohol present. Tot i així, prou bona
3.5 11.2 ounce bottle at The Winking Lizard in Copley, Ohio. Smells yeasty. Bright golden in color with white foamy head. Taste sweet, yeasty, and is smooth. Well balanced. Yeast aftertaste. Very nice beer! Cheers!
3.0 Aroma: Hay, hops, malt. Feels a bit "empty". Appearance: Clear straw with huge white head. Taste: Very sweet with long lasting bitterness. Well hidden alcohol. Palate: Medium body, average carbonation. Overall: Too sweet, lacks complexity. Not very good.
3.2 11.2 ounce bottle shared by J.T.at the 1/9/22 Prohibition Speakeasy tasting. Clear gold, thin creamy white head, good retention. Aroma of green, dank hops, bready malt, stone fruit. Taste is bready malt, stone fruit, candi sugar, green hop. Full body.
3.7 750 bottle. Labeled as dry hopped. Light hops. Initially the aroma thought this might be similar to a saison but it is more mild. Dry, a little herbal. Does not taste or smell of alcohol but this sneaks up later. Very well carbonated.
3.9 Shared 750 ml. bottle at Lunar Brewing Co. poured to a snifter showing a hazed, orangey/gold color, with a sudsy layer of white froth that reduced to a ring & bubbly film, with foamy spots of lacing. The nose was pit fruit and pear, with subtle Belgian spices, and complementary sweetness. Medium bodied, the taste was similar but more expressive notes, with lively effervescence, well integrated alcohol, some earthy astringency, and finishing dryness. Very nice.
3.4 Finally got around to this, about 7 years past the due date. Still a decent drinker. A Belgian standard, a little muted.
3.4 28.8.2021: 330 ml bottle at home, 9.5% ABV, bb. 21.3.2022, bought at La Mise En Biere, Lausanne. Pours a clear straw-yellow with a large white head. Aroma of grass, hay, straw, light metallic notes, sweet grains, some cereals, some biscuit and very light fruity yeast notes. Medium to full body with a fizzy carbonation, a medium sweetness and a light to medium bitterness. The flavor is medium malty, lightly yeasty and lightly to medium hoppy - sweetish pale malt, biscuit, sweet bread, hints of floral hay, some spicy yeast notes, bitter herbal hop notes, some sweetish pear, some hay. Finishes with a light residual sweetness and a light to medium-light hoppy bitterness. Aroma: 7 Appearance: 3 Taste: 7 Palate: 3 Overall: 14
3.4 Nase und Optik Champagner, zügige Perlung. Im Trunk triplig, Rosinen, leicht alkoholisch, cremig, Gewürze, passt.
3.8 (Rate 19/06/21: 8-4-8-4-16 = 4.0) Bottle 75cl pours clear golden with a stable white head. Aroma is blond malts but mainly much spicy yeast. Taste is nice, mild bitter, not too sweet, also spicy. Firm carbo. This is a fine tripel. (Re-rate 30/03/23: 7-3-8-4-15 = 3.8) Bottle 33cl this time. Light-golden pour with firm white head; good retention. Same spicy yeasty aroma (sometimes weak) and spicy mild-bitter soft-sweet taste; the late aftertaste seems a bit dusty. OK carbo, firm body. Nice tripel still, but a bit more nuance in my rate.
3.5 Sweet, with a greater bitter aftertaste
2.6 Niet zo lekker
4.0 The label on this one says dry hopping. The labels are more than a little confusing. They have another beer whose style is a grand cru, while this one that is called a grand cru the style is strong ale. The aromas and flavors on this are yeasty and spicy. Very nice balance between bitter, sweet and carbonation. Outstanding body and carbonation with a very good finish. Great beer!
3.0 It's nice but the high alcohol content is really noticeable.
