St. John Brewers Virgin Islands Tropical Mango Pale Ale
The inspiration for Virgin Islands Pale Ale came when the beer’s creators, Kevin Chipman and Chirag ’Cheech’ Vyas, began home brewing on the island of St. John. Unsatisfied with the choices of mass produced, bland, watered down beer, the two set out to brew ales that had smoother flavors and a distinct hop finish. After brewing several batches of quality American and European style beers they developed a recipe that captured the essence and taste of the Caribbean. The finished brew, a light ale with a subtle exotic fruit nose and mild hop finish, is the ideal flavor for our tropical climate. Virgin Islands Pale Ale was born. Having created a perfect island ale recipe, the two would like to share their new brew with the Virgin Islands and its visitors. Whether you are enjoying a sunset, celebrating an island happy hour, or having a relaxing dinner, Virgin Islands Pale Ale is the refreshing beer to enjoy any moment.

Nice, but not so fruity. Fine aroma and cloudy features, Not much to say about it but was drinkable.
3.412oz brown bottle from Trader Joe’s poured into a nonic pub glass, a crystal clear golden amber colour, quickly dissipating off-white foam, no lace. Intense mango aroma and flavour but supportive of similarly fruity English ale yeast esters. Good, basic maltbill and mellow non-descript hop balance, mildly earthy and spicy underneath. I don’t always like fruit beers, but this is good, very well-balanced and natural tasting, none of the artificial chemical impression of others. Light body, fizzy carbonation, long-lasting fruity aftertaste, not syrupy sweet but not dry either. You know you’ve been drinking a uniquely tasty fruit beer...in a good way.
3.4Pheremonic yeasty aroma, tannic, slightly sulphurous (mango), fairly sweet. Standard longneck, clear coppery pour. Expectedly fruity, tangy, decent malt, moderately sweet. Lightish body, vanilla and fruit aftertaste. Trader Joe’s, Tallahassee.
3.1$2.25 bottle from trader joes. Pours golden with a large-bubbled small head. Floral/mango/lager aroma. Taste is mango on top of lager. I guess the mango makes the bland lager drinkable.
3.0medium gold pour, finger of off white head. Nose is over the top mango. Bittersweet. Middle is bready with a bitter carbonation bite, muddled with some mango sweetness. Finish is bitter, little off.
3.2Tallahassee, Fl - Trader Joe’s - 12 oz bottle. Sparkling light copper pour, fluffy, snow white head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma has a fresh hint of mango, some spearmint. Crisp flavor with a light citrus bitter undertone and some nice fruity mango accents, some vanilla noted in the back end, Mouthfeel has a nice crispness to it. Refreshing in the heat.

Jacksonville, Fl. - Total Wines - 12 oz bottle. Pours a glinty medium to dark golden with a tight white head. Aroma of mangoes - slightly natural smelling. Flavor initially has the same mango twist to it but then it turns twangy and metallic. Steely, artificial mouthfeel. Had a choice of three of these VI brews to buy a six of - why did I pick this one!?
2.8Gyllengul öl med ett lätt vitt skum. Klara inslag av mango i både doft och smak. Lättare beska. Endimensionell.
2.5マンゴーペールエール
マンゴー感はある、ペールエールっぽくもある、でもあんまり
3.3Bottle pour hazy avg gold with thin white head. Nose big mango, slight metallic, some citrus. Taste similar to nose with mostly mango and fruit juice. Reasonable refreshing after day of hiking and snorkeling.
2.9Bottle. Aroma of lemon, orange, mango, grassy malt, earthy hop and yeast. Flavor is earthy, pale hop, and artificial tropical fruits. Mildly bitter, too sweet but vastly smooth.
3.2Pleasant light mango aroma. Deep golden body with a mild haze. Started with a finger thick head but fades quickly to a thin covering. Strong mango flavor with a mild bitter bite. Thin bodied and well carbonated feel.
2.6From NOTES.
Holy mango infused! Tastes more like a wine cooler than a beer...
2.9Bottle@virgin island brewery. Small head Amber clear. Synthetic mango notes. Very tropical. Dry sweet. Light body. Interesting but not for me.
2.4Pours a clear orange, little to no head or lacing. Hefty mango and pineapple aromas. Somewhat oily mouthfeel. Dull fruity flavors, bland aftertaste. Not very appealing.
2.8Pours gold with a small white head out of the bottle. Aroma is mango, caramel and mango. Taste is sweet with some light tartness. Light bodied and easy to drink...but the taste turns about halfway through and becomes increasingly cloying.
2.212 is. bottle from Buck’s Wholesale on Virgin Gorda, BVI. Copper color, with some seltzer bubbles, but no head. Strong mango nose, with some juniper, cloves, and corn syrup. Sweet and malty, with a pretty awful bitterness. Light body, sticky, and acidic. This was a slightly promising beer from the initial nose, but was unpleasant and difficult to drink.
2.8Tasted from tap. Pours a clear amber with white head. Aroma is mango and other tropical fruits. Taste is pretty sweet with obviously mango. Minimal bitterness. Some caramel and tropical fruit tastes as well. Needs a little more bitter bite. Overall below average for pale ale but average for a fruit beer.
1.2nice mango aroma. golden and clear with a fast fading head. slight mango flavor but overall taste is sharp, almost metallic
1.6The beer pours a slightly hazy amber with a small white head that fades quickly. The aroma is heavy on the artificial peach without anything else, and the taste is mildly sweet and slightly sour due to the heavy artificial peach with a not-so-subtle undercurrent of yeast. The palate fuses a soft carbonation, light body, and a thin and slick texture.
0.9Ugh. Tastes like mango juice concentrate gone bad. Maybe if I was in the Virgin Islands and not in Massachusetts in March this would taste better.
1.7Bottle, picked up at Total Wine for country tick #94. Pours crystal clear orange, very small off-white head, dissipates quickly, some lacing. Aroma is mango, floral notes, perfume. Flavor is medium sweet, light bitter, strong perfume and floral notes. Lightish body. Meh with a capital M.
2.7Bottle. Pours light yellow with very light head yet super carbonation. Heavy mango aroma? Smooth Caribbean beach beer with mango flavor but lager finish.
3.5Aroma: Mango, Pineapple, Sweet Malts
Appearance: Amber Hue, Passes Some Light, White Head Ring, Mild Lacing
Taste: Mango, Gritty Grains, Wheat
Mouthfeel: Average Carbonation, Medium Bodied, Mildly Drying
3.4Bottle from ABC Orlando mostly for the country tick. Straight from the bottle. The aroma is actually nice with gentle mango notes. Really the flavor is nice too. Sweeter mango notes up from and then a lightly bitter finish. No clue if they use real mango or not, but nothing tastes "chemically" or fake. Pleasant surprise.
3.2bottle. golden with small head. i catch more peach than mango. sweet with mild hops. interesting -- certainly better than i was expecting.
3.5Bottle from street market stall in St Thomas September 2013. Fruity and refreshing. Sat In a park, drank this beer and watched the world pass by.
1.8Bottle thanks to the hoff's recent vacation. Light yellow with a white head. Smells like straight peach nectar. Fake fruit, dry and gross.
2.4Bottle. Pours golden yellow with a thin white head. Aroma of sweet mango. Flavor was quite sweet with rich mango, grains, tropical fruit and had a slight bitterness with a dry finish.
2.4Pours Amber and clear with almost no head. Not a very clear aroma, not much except the mango is present. Taste is pleasant and refreshing, the mango is very bright but not overpowering. The finish is slightly bitter and the hops finally show themselves. A refreshing beer which I'd buy again.
