1.2I can’t believe I haven’t had this... But it’s really really gross so yes I can understand why. Smells like apple juice that has sat in the sun nd taken on a light vinegar aroma. Flavour is so sweet it’s nauseating. Tastes like apple pulp mixed with sugar and lemon iced tea. Do not spend your money here.
2.3bottle sample a while ago, deep amber orange pour with a white head, nose of sweet burned caramel, artificial like all of their beers, sweer caramelised apples, green apples, sweet ripe fruits
3.2Bottle at home thanks to clockwork. Had a shitty day so figured crack a rare style tick to up the mood. Pours light brown with some floaters. Nose is candy and some caramel. Tastes of caramel, lots of pear, some yeast, candy, Lambic funk, and artificial sweetener.
2.2Bue à la pression. Nez fruité, sucre et fruits au palais. Mal équilibrée, plutot mauvaise meme.
3.6(tap 0,3l @ OP (Brno))
Aroma : Sweet, candy, caramel, light sour, cherry.
Appearance : Clear dark amber color. Medium white head.
Taste : Very sweet, candy-like, medium sour.
Palate : Medium body. Sticky texture. Sweet finish.
Overall : Nice sweet-sour.
2.0Tasted from tap. Van Honsebrouck’s reaction to the success of Lindemans Faro, but a failure if you ask me, sweet, artificial, sugary and lacking the complexity and funkiness which the true lambic adept appreciates so much. Redundant.
3.0Bottle thanks to Kraddel. Pours amber white head. Nose/taste of caramel, sweet malt, Belgian yeast and Balsamic vinegar. Light medium body.
2.025 cl bottle. Brown pour with tan lacing. Sweet and off lambic aromas. Well it lives up to the worst faro in the world rating.
1.3Bottle at Kulminator. Clear deep gold pour with thin white head. Aroma is funky, cheesy, tons of garbage juice, really nasty. Taste is sweet, caramel, brown sugar, malt and garbage juice. Nasty crap.
0.7Bottle (250 ml) @ Kulminator. Slightly hazy bright amber with a small white head and little lacing. Aroma is of garbage, cardboard, brown sugar and rotten eggs. Taste is very similar but is actually more disturbing because, at that stage, you know that the liquid is entering your body and you really don’t know what will happen next. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Definitely one of the worst beer I have ever tried. It’s horrendous for an old beer and it’s atrocious for a faro so that give you an idea of how bad is that one. Should I be a torturer, that would be one of my prime instruments.
3.3Pours amber with no head. Very nice aroma of sour cherry. Taste is similar to the aroma - it’s sour and full of cherry.
3.4Bottle at zytholoog
Pours brown/amber , fast fading good white head
Sweet smell - perfumed even
Very much alike caramelized apples . Very arteficial
2.9Bottle at Kulminator. Drink by 2009. Caramel and cream nose, sour cream, yogurt. Medium amber-orange color with lace. Very sweet, much like ginger ale, with lemon and cream, and a bit of spoiled milk. More like a soda.
2.9Courtesey of KyotoLefty. 25 cl. bottle sampled @ Kulminator. BBF 11/2009 so 2007 Vintage? I don’t think that they are still making this. Very, very few recent ratings. Darker amber with a tanned head that only shows on the sides. Smell of cough syrup, very sweet, iron, some herbs, very sticky, some aged sweetness but additives have kept this well, thick sugar. Taste is very sweet, reminds me of Red Bull, aged Red Bull of sorts, sweet cough syrup, some herbs, iron, odd aged flavour, obv. zero sweetness. Prickling carb. this tastes a bit like an already opened energy drink, energy drink body. Not to bad actually for what it is not off-flavour from sweeteners.
4.0Overall: Very sweet and sour, a real candy treat.
Note: On-tap at De Klomp. Reviewed 2013-05-04.
2.5Bottle @ Kulminator, Antwerp. BB 2009. Clear amber with a white head. Aroma is sweet malty, caramel and dark sugar. Flavor is quite sweet and light acidic. Dry and light acidic finish. 240712
2.6Transfering data from personal beer file. I drank this beer a long time ago. I’ll update this rating if I have the chance to drink it again.
2.6Bottle. Clear amber color, medium white head. Aroma of caramel and cotton candy. Taste is sweet, subtle summer fruits. Too sweet for me.
3.0Fruchtige Gerüche (Weintrauben) dringen in die Nase. Auf der Zunge süß-säuerlich bis in den Abgang. Der trockene Nachhall ist ausdauernd.
Tjaaa...
Test vom 18.3.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 9,6,7,5,6,5 - 5,90
3.6Enjoyed at the Pub St-Alexandre in Quebec City, October 2006 in company of Driss. Best before date written on label is 11-2009 and lists, 3.2% ABV. Poured a golden-orange colour that is slightly cloudy with an off-white head, and little retention. Nice smell of cider vinegar mixed with honey and some fruity sweetness. The mouthfeel was kind of watery. Sweet cherry taste that is on the mild side, with cider vinegar and red apples. Was a little sour at first, but went away with time, and went to the sweet side. I really enjoyed my first Faro experience. A really nice balance of aromas and flavours.
3.1Bottled at Pressklubben, Stockholm. Clear amber, minimal head. Sweet and sour with citric acid embedded in breast sugar. Slim bodied and hugely drinkable with slight caramel and barnyard. Mild lemony acidity is what lingers. Not really complex, just really refreshing.
3.1Deep gold, small white head.Nose is malt vinegar, tart fruity palate with late arriving light sweetness.
3.0Ok, never had a faro, read about it briefly. Chapeau Faro will follow immediately after this is finished. Deeeeeep amber and crystal clear (no sediment poured in yet) and a skiff of light tan bubbles. Sweet! Holy hell! My god - no wonder why no one makes this style - how would you sell it before it went bad? White sugar, sourness, yeast, hints of wood?, sour cherry / raspberry mix? With that said, the aroma is sure making my mouth water. And tasting.... tasting... wtf? Pop! Craigmont Pop. Those tiny rockets candy you get at halloween. Powdery weird mix of sourness... a fruity sourness, I also think there is some Lik-Em-Stik flavour as well. So yea - you could say it’s kinda sweet... Sweet, slick, sour and tart in a candy way on the finish. Very drinkable at least in this small dose. The winner of the two faros by a long shot - but these are two totally tasting brews.
3.2head: goes away fast
colour: between light and dark orangy amber
smell: fruitiness , wheats , sour , sugar, yeast
taste: bit sweet and fruitier than his fellow "lindemans faro" , i like it altough i prefer maybe a bit more sourness in it , but it’s ok...
3.0Smells almost of a skunky cheese, taste is better but I think half a bottle will do for now. Citrus, sweet, etc.
2.8YAAA!!!!!! My first Faro, another style checked off the beer list. Bright copper body no cap at all and appears to be more then crystal clear. Do very sweet smelling, must take insulin shot now.! Aroma is sour honey with extra sugar added and faint cider vinegar. Taste like overly sweet apple juice, some cherry but then turns very vinegary at back of throat. I’m getting a lemon lime like pop taste sometimes. So very sweet. It has a powdery candy quality to it like Rockets (what where my fav Halloween candy to get) when warmer it get very vinegary and less enjoyable. My empty glass smells like celery salt.
2.6250mL bottle, pours a crisp copper with a white head. Smell of candy, lime and lots of sugar. Flavour is extremely sweet candy, some sour cherries and kind of syrupy. A little too sweet for me...
2.8Bottle thanks to blutt59. The smell is candy, sweet, lime, wood, and very sugary. The look is clear, golden in color, and has a fizzy white head. The taste is fruits, soda like, sweet, and sugar.
3.5( 25cl bottle thanks to blutt59 marked 11/2009) Pours clear amber with a ring of bubbles. Nose of sugar, light funky/woody barrel, and sour cherry. Taste is very sweet, light sour cherries, creamy, grapes, with a good creamy finish.
