St. Louis Premium Kriek

St. Louis Premium Kriek

St. Louis Premium Kriek is a kriekenbier, or cherry beer, made on a lambic base. A quarter of St. Louis Premium Kriek is the juice of Obacinska krieken cherries that have been steeped in gueuze for six months. It also has a smaller proportion of St. Louis Kriek Fond Tradition. This beer is a thirst-quencher with a low alcohol content and, in the nose, overwhelmingly sweet aromas of krieken cherries. It’s very fruity with a hint of sourness and slight touches of almond coming from the krieken cherry stones.

3.8 Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours clear cherry red with a pink-tinged head. Aromas of cherry and almond. Taste is sweet, marzipan and cherry. Lots of flavour, and a light sharp finish.
4.5 Sweet Jesus that's good. Perfectly balanced, velvety, sweet, tart, delicious, in short. Slightly lower abv and a smidgeon too thin for 5.0 but am struggling to criticize here
4.0 375 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours slightly hazy ruby reddish orange/amber color with a 1 finger dense light pink head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big juicy and lightly tart/tangy red/black cherries, strawberry, plum, red apple, red grape, fruit skin/pits, almond, candi sugar, wheat, bread, light funk, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of cherries, fruity yeast, and malt/sugar sweetness; with great strength. Taste of big juicy and lightly tart/tangy red/black cherries, strawberry, plum, red apple, red grape, fruit skin/pits, almond, candi sugar, wheat, bread, light funk, and yeast earthiness. Light fruity/lactic tartness and fruit tang on the finish. Lingering notes of juicy/tart/tangy red/black cherries, strawberry, plum, red apple, red grape, fruit skin/pits, almond, candi sugar, wheat, bread, light funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of cherries, fruity yeast, and malt/sugar sweetness; with a nice malt/tart/tangy balance, and no cloying flavors after the finish. Slightly increasing dryness from fruit tang/tartness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy, and lightly slick/syrupy/tangy/tannic mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 3.2%. Overall this was an excellent sweetened fruit lambic. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of cherries, fruity yeast, and malt/sugar sweetness; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly tart/tangy finish. Tastes like a cherry cobbler dessert as a beer. Lots of authentic jammy cherry fruit presence with balanced sweetness. Not as funky on the yeast as some others I've had, but it was really enjoyable all around.
3.9 Of course, not everybody's favorite, but from an official Kriek afficionado, St. Louis gets a thumps up.
3.8 Roze/rood helder licht roze kraag. Aroma van geuze/lambic, zoete kersen. Smaken matig tot redelijk zoet, framboos, kers, glad, mout, gist, ok co2, goede smaken, Zoetig en licht Zuurtje, jammer is een beetje de stevia zoetstof
2.0 Bottle. Clear ruby color with pinkish head. Aroma is straight bubblegum, artificial cherry flavours, soda-like. Taste is the same. Low carbonation. Really like drinking bubblegum juice.
2.3 At De Kalvarieberg, Bruges. Pours hazy red with a thin, pink head. The aroma contains cherry, sugar and some almond/marzipan. It tastes heavy sweet and only very light sour with a lingering sweetness - no Lambic-like finish. Light body, sticky texture, fizzy carbonation. Nah, this is just not it.
3.4 Bottle; pours clear ruby red with a pink head; aroma of cherries and hints of malt; taste is somewhat sweet with cherries and traces of malt; dry, light tart cherry finish
2.8 Robe grenat, fine mousse, peu persistante. Nez sur le yaourt à la cerise, le curberdon, le bonbon, assez chimique. Bouche à l’attaque doucereuse, tout aussi lactée, que le nez, fine bulle, finale fruitée. Est-ce vraiment une kriek ?
2.2 06/2017 @home - 33cl bottle, 2 years past it’s BBF date. Clear red with pinkish head. Nose is sweet artificial cherry. Taste is artificial cherry, very sweet, even after all these years.
2.1 Aroma: Medium-high cherry aroma, very similar to cherry lollipops. Medium-light marzipan. Acidity is present, but not strong. Appearance: Brilliantly clear, red body with a small, pink head with fair retention. Flavour: Medium-light horse blanket and cherry on the first sip. Acidity is present, but balanced by a sweetness. Medium dry finish, with a lingering cherry lollipop flavour. No hops. Mouthfeel: Light body. Medium carbonation. Overall: The sweetness of the beer is detracting from what I expect from a lambic. This feels almost like a slightly complex alcopop, not a complex lambic. 250 ml bottle, poured. 23F. Fruit Lambic
3.2 Sweet cherries, fruity sourness, minor barnyard both on aroma and taste. Pleasant pop-lambic -- rated with beerbasher/winphone
2.8 Drunk from 33cl bottle bought at the Ghent indoor athletics track. Overly sweet artificial kriek.
4.5 Bottle: perfect desert beer! Food Pairing: Dark belgian chocolate, red berries pie.
4.0 Pours a black cherry red from this bottled on February 19th 2013 black wrapped caged and corked bottle. Big sweet cherry smell maybe some wheat. All cherries in the taste. 99% sweet, 1% tart. Lovely Belgian fruit beer, which I have a definite bias for. Take that into accoun
3.0 Bottle @ Brussels apartment. Clear deep red pour with a small head. Sweet cherries, a bit sticky, light funk and a sweet finish. Decent!
2.7 Pours dark clear dark red with a tiny pink head. Aroma of vanilla, cherries and soda pop. Taste of sweet cherries, red sweets and vanilla.
2.9 From bottle. Pours a clear ruby red with a small pinkish head. Aroma has lots of cherry soda, slight cherry pits, light marzipan. Taste is sweet, sour, candy, artificial, soda... You know... High carbonation and a light body.
2.4 Bottle. Pours clear dark red with a small bubbly pinkish head. Aromas of sweet cherries, apples, sugar, marzipan, vinegar. Taste is light tart, cherry candy, sugar, vinegar.
1.7 250ml into wine glass. Looks like cherry juice with a persistent but thin carbonation. Nose is cough medicine. In the mouth, cough medicine mixed with cherry flavor. Barest hint of bitterness in the back gives way to sweetness. Should’ve known better when I saw "sweetened with Stevia" on the bottle. Really, you’d be better off making a highball with Cherry Herring. At least the cherry flavor reads as real cherry and not artificial?
3.2 Nice strong cherry in aroma and taste. Light palate, but full of cherries. What ever that means. A bit of tartness in middle somewhere. Ends more sweeter. It’s drinkable.
3.2 250ml bottle bought at YATA in MOKO, Mong Kok. Clear cherry red colour with no yeast sediments; Less than one quarter finger head with residual soapy off-pink foam which fades in 10 seconds; Good sticky lacing with barely notable slight carbonation; Fragrant sweet and tart aroma of malt, with cherry fruits and juice, blackcurrant, yoghurt tartness, acidic, perfume, barrel and tannic; Pleasant tart and sweet taste of malt, with strong dark cherry juice and flesh, fair yoghurt tartness, carbo, sugar, light barrel and light tannic; Light body. Thin and slightly slick palate; Mouth feel is close to rich maltyness in a watery background. light wheaty with fair tartness Lots of full juicy cherry flesh. Strong sweetness but not cloying, well countered by fruit and lambic’s acidity. Pretty good!... Hoppiness is no nose and taste. Fair tannic for abrupt, yoghurty tart and sweet finish; Slightly dry after taste, very easy to mouth. Comments: Just like the Premium Framboise, this one has strong malty and intense fruity character which mixed well with lambic tartness. In this case the cherry has fresh fruity, just a tad sweeter. Enjoyable for a sweet fruit lambic!
2.8 Bottle at home. Almost clear ruby with pink head, looks nice. Lots of sweet cherries, cherry lemonade and candy, marzipan, some dust and hay. Really not much more, except a light chemical touch in the finish. Quite sweet and under medium bitter. Medium bodied. Typical sweetened artificial kriek.
3.1 250ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours a red colour with a pink foamy head leaving lacing. Aroma of sweet black cherry, marzipan. Taste is sour, fruity cherry, juicy, sweet, lactic, funky, some straw. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, sweet and sour finish. Quite drinkable.
3.2 Хороший освежающий вишневый компотик квас) Девушкам должно понравиться! Вкус и аромат натуральные.
2.4 F: pink, thin, quick gone. C: dark red, clear. A: cherries, cherries jam, hint of apples. T: sour cherries, sweet cherries, some tartness on the palate, light body, good carbonation, I am not sure for lambic but refreshing, 0,25l bottle from Match supermarket in Brussels.
3.3 Ganske god Kriek fra St. Louis. Frisk smag af kirsebær. Passende lav alkohol-pct. For sød som andre kriek
3.5 250ml bottle from Club de Cervezas. Pours a deep ruby red color with a minimal pinkish fizzy head that vanishes after a few seconds. Aroma is basically cherries, but quite clean, nice without being sugary or syrupy. It’s a bit lactic and fresh. Taste is pleasant, mild tartness with some non intrusve sweetness. Good balance and the cherries integrate amazingly well. It’s not something I would kill to drink, but it’s one of the few good Krieks I’ve tried. Medium body, carbonation is soft but is presence is shown very well. Easy to drink. Smooth and mild. A very pleasant Kriek, much better than the cheap fruit lambics I tried before like Chapeau or Floris.
2.9 How : bottle Appearance : almost clear dark red with a small pink head. Aroma : stone fruits, cherry, caramel. Palate : light body, average carbonation.
