St. Peter's Winter Ale

St. Peter's Winter Ale

Cask: Seasonal - Winter. Also available brewery conditioned and cold filtered in 500ml bottles.
A deep ruby red strong ale with an excellent balance of malt sweetness and hop bitterness. A classic example of a
’winter warmer’; high in alcohol and rich in taste.

3.8 Pours a dark brown colour with a beige coloured head Notes of roasted coffee and roasted toffee caramel and vanilla Bottle version from the brewery
3.9 Aroma : Deeply toasted sweet toffee malt, rich malt loaf, autumnal red fruits with a good dolop of christmas cake spice mix and a little fusty/earthy note. Taste : As aroma. Rich and full bodied. Moderatly bitter throughout but with a light sweet undertone and a little alcohol burn in the finish. Excellent
3.7 Bottle 500ml. Very dark reddish brown. Tanned head. Sweet aroma with plums, malts and toffee. Taste is suprisingly bitter, almost a bit tangy. Heavy on caramel, burnt sugar and berries.

3.4 Dark brown color, small beige head. Aromas of toffee, molasses, nuts and dried fruit. Taste of molasses, caramel, dried fruit, nuts, chocolate and alcohol. Creamy mouthfeel.
3.5 In a nice bottle: a beautiful black beer with a brown, medium-lasting but sticky foam. Its aroma is not very pronounced, fresh earthy, moderately roasted malt. Rather, it is malted. Medium-bodied, well-drinkable brown. I can imagine: sipping on an English pub ... Oily, real English brown beer. Nevertheless, it is not outstanding.
Lekker bittere nasmaak. Donkere ale
4.0 Bottle from Beers of Europe. Appearance - dark mahogany brown with some red chinks. Nose - dried fruits such as prunes and raisins. Then spice. Light smoke. Taste - burnt raisins and smoke. A hint of molasses but not quite. Palate - medium bodied at least. Rich, persistent finish. Overall - good stuff.
4.0 Bottle shared with Ashton McCobb. Pours near black with a thin beige head. Aromas of treacle and light spice. Raisins, Christmas cake almost. Taste is light sweet, toffee, tar, light smoke almost, more spice. Rich and complex.
4.0 Bottle at the Jerusalem Tavern, Clerkenwell. Purplish black with a creamy off-white head. Plums, bitter cooking chocolate and slate in the aroma. Sweet spicy taste. Plum pudding, raisins, brandy and vinous tannins in the taste. It turns more bitter in the middle of the sip.liquoruce and more plums in the finish. Medium carbonation. Masterful.
3.6 From the bottle. Brown with a thin, creamy beige head. Aroma of peat, toffee, cofee and burnt toast. Taste is mildly bitter, dominated by the burnt grain flavors that set the overall tone. Oily, medium body although it could stand a more chewy character. At times it feels too light. Still nice though.
2.5 Aroma of red dried fruits with molasses, gigerbread and milk chocolate back. Taste is semi dry with ashy notes which scratch the tongue, some sunflower seeds and bit caramel note. Dry, but not really pleasant in the long run.
3.2 Tap@Tuulensuu, Tampere, Finland. Medium, balanced nuances of soft dark fruits, some averagely roasted malts, dark chocolate. Medium taste spectrum and medium aftertaste with slightly roasted malts. Medium /light body with medium carbonation. Overall, lively though bit light product. Nothing special. 6 3 7 3 13
3.7 Bottle from Systembolaget. Aroma of dark fruit, caramel, smoke, spices. Pours dark chestnut body and beige head. Taste is rich with caramel, dark fruit, smokiness, alcohol. Very enjoyable and my favorite among the Christmas beers I tried this year.
3.1 Bottle from Systembolaget. Much much darker than I imagined. Dark chocolate, tobacco. i imagine much better on cask at teh Jerusalem Tavern!
4.0 This dark brown and almost headless ale comes with a rich, malty aroma: Christmas pudding, plum, treacle, a hint of coffee, some roastiness... you can even detect a wee 'burnt' edge if you open your mind to it. On the tongue, it starts out dry and then turns bitter-sweet, with the bitterness lingering longest. Wintery? Yes, definitely. But this brew is also amazingly and yet unobrusively complex. My only gripe is its strangely 'filling' quality: Even though it's neither a real ABV monster nor too sweet or syrupy, I can't see myself ever craving more than half a pint (and not much else to follow). But it's delicious in small doses!
3.5 6.5% 500ml bottle Local LCBO Nice and strong
3.2 0,5 litre Bottle from Systembolaget Charlottenberg. Almost Black with beige head. Roasted malts, hops, sweetness, Chocolate and coffee.
3.7 500ml bottle; BB 4th Sep 19. Poured into one of their (St Peter's) new tall pint glasses at home on 27th Apr 18. Dark, ruby body, thin beige head. Malty and heavy in both the nose and taste, chocolate notes within the maltiness, semi-sweet with a good bitterness at the end of each sip/gulp. Mild vanilla notes as the beer warms a little in the glass. Liked it.
3.2 Dark brown-red with a tan head. Aroma is malt, chocolate, hops and some sweet spices. Taste is sweet malt, chocolate and spices with a hoppy finish. Smells of chocolate, stout and ale aromas. Pours a dark amber colour. No head. Taste of chocolate and mild spices. Almost a mix between a chocolate stout and ale. Almost no carbonation Overall I was not disappointed. This is exactly what I would like to sip on a cold day leading up to Christmas. Will buy again. MB The Beer Bearon

3.8 Nice winter ale.
3.4 Bottle 6,5% color is black with a small brown head. Aroma is chocolate and coffee. Taste of chocolate malt and caramel with an aftertaste of coffee. Overall a pleasant beer
Mwah.
3.5 Klares dunkelrot mit relativ wenig Schaum. Malzig, brauner Zucker, etwas Karamell, würzig, trocken, leicht bitter.
4.0 God og spændende øl. Dejlig på en kold eftermiddag. Gog fylde og fin eftersmag
3.5 Bottle at home as a take-out from The Old Jerusalem Tavern. A lovely mahogany pour into the tankard with a respectable head. The nose was a gentle molasses and malt and both were clearly evident in the flavour. There was some balancing bitterness against that molasses, but there wasn't much else to the flavour profile. If anything I would say that the flavour was quite short. The mouthfeel was enhanced by the bite of the alcohol, but at the end of the pint I have to say that I was underwhelmed.
