Starr Hill The Love

Starr Hill The Love

The Love is an unfiltered wheat beer, also known as a hefeweizen. It is distinguished by its extremely light body and flavored with hints of banana and clove. A slice of lemon can complement this refreshing brew.

3.2 Golden orange pour with aroma of bread, spice, yeast, and banana. Banana flavor with some yeast, and bread. Pretty flavorful.
2.4 Bottle to pint. Yellow color. A little hazy. Small white head. Aroma is egg, wheat, some fruitiness. Taste is Bready, but thin. Very Mild hops. Paste. Medium carbonation. Not great, but ok for a plain wheat beer.
3.3 Trübes, helles Bier mit deutlichem Hefearoma. Geschmack sehr süß, mit Hefe und Getreide.
3.4 Goldig bis hell, trüb. Geruch Banane. Im Geschmack recht trocken, typischer Weizengeschmack. Im Geschmack eher Nelke als Banane.
3.0 Nice light wheat. Not too much belgium flavor but not an american style fully either. Tap.
3.1 12 oz bottle from mixed "Summer Tour" 12-pack dated best by 17 Dec. 2011 (from notes). Served in a pint glass. Newer label than shown on BA. Pours a hazy golden straw color with a small and short-lived off-white head. Lots of visible carbonation. Additional sediment in the bottom of the bottle added mid-tasting. S - rather typical weisbier aroma with yeast, citrus, ripe banana, a clove-like spiciness and, perhaps, a trace of hops. Not particularly inviting, but I find that true of many beers of this style. T - moderate strength for style. Yeast, grain, ripe banana and lemony citrus. Sour and sweet components with a clear tart balance. Good but quite citrusy aftertaste. M - medium-light body; nice carbonation level; a tad crisp; semi-dry finish. O - In sum, an above average weisbier, particularly in regards to mouthfeel. Good thirst quencher.
3.0 Pretty decent for a hefeweizen. Dark yellow color. Definite smell of bananas. Fruity taste. Nice mouthfeel. Balanced flavors.
3.2 Golden color, no head really, very small palate and smell. Almost fruity and goes down easily, good beer to drink a few of, not a lot.
3.6 On tap at lost dog it is a clear yellow color with a slight head. The aroma is malty with some citrus. The taste is banana and lemon and Cloves and the finish is definitely a candy banana
3.1 On draft at Lost Dog in McLean. Pours a clear gold with a white head. Aroma of cardamom. Flavors of banana. Short clean finish.
2.8 Poured from a bottle. Very little head, a small but noticeable amount of lacing, cloudy orange. Hay and banana aroma, wheaty with some citrus. Smooth finish. Not a fan of what beers anymore, but this was refreshing after a run.
2.9 A little underwhelming. Too much on the sour side without having much of the banana or pronounced yeast. Pours orange without much head or lacing. Bottle.
3.7 Transfer from BA review on 7-7-12 - Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance – Pours a hazy yellow golden color with a medium white head. The head faded very fast to give only a light amount of lacing. Smell – The aromas are heaviest of wheat and yeast. There are notes of pepper and banana as well as a very light citrus flavor. Taste – The taste starts out wheaty and a little on the sweeter side; the sweetness is of a citrus orange nature. The sweetness fades slightly over time as flavors of yeast start to work their way into the taste. A light peppery and banana flavor accompany the yeast and take the flavor to the end. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer was on the average thickness with a carbonation level on the higher side of things. Both fitting, but rather average for the style. Overall – Not a bad brew and quite easy to drink. Well worth a try.
2.7 DATE REVIEWED: July 18, 2014... GLASSWARE: Weihenstaphaner weizen... OCCASION: beautiful camp day to a close...APPEARANCE: cloudy golden yellow body with generally large bubbles at the bottom of the glass; quickly flattening head--zero left behind, creating a bald brew... AROMA: banana and bubblegum--a yeast strain that is a bit clean for a hefe... some clove late... PALATE: crisp, reasonably medium-bodied; swift aftertaste; not really unfiltered... TASTE: yeasty banana, and yet not too flavorful; slightly acidic, but rather smooth overall, missing the rougher, more natural flavor profile of a hefe... OVERALL: refreshing on the deck at Friday 5 pm, yes--flavorful enough to distinguish itself or hold interest, no...enough to be a hefe, definitely not; the sampler hit on two of four (the IPA and pils) and struggles elsewhere...
3.0 Clear golden pour with a small, creamy white head. Aroma is yeasty with a lot of banana. Banana flavors dominate, light clove, yeast and light fruit. Finish is a bit sour and soapy. Good flavor, finishes flat.
2.6 bottle. mostly clear gold, lifeless, no head. tart, grapefruit pith and banana aroma. thinnish light body. some flavors of bready grain and green banana. tough to keep these fresh for long. pkg 3/10/14.
2.6 Interesting brew. Definitely some hefeweizen characteristics, but I didn’t pick up on much of the banana and clove. The appearance was nice but nothing special. Same for the taste. Definitely pour it in a glass. Tried a few sips from the bottle, but the carbonation was overpowering. Not bad, but this one is not for me.
3.5 A none too offensive German style hefe. Pale malt, corn, wheat, pine, citrus and mild spices. Balanced with a little peppery zest bite on the end. Perhaps that’s the clove but I think it is more peppercorns. Light body. The spices come through as you drink it. I am enjoying this a lot.
3.0 The beer is cloudy and bright golden with a small white and ample effervescence. The aroma offers banana, sugary candies, fruit esters. Bubble gum and banana flavor. A bit too sweet for my liking. Prickly carbonation with a slight bite in the finish. Overall, a noticeable step behind the leading German examples of the style.
3.1 12 oz bottle pours a hazy yellow color with a nice white head. Aromas of banana, clove, light wheat. Light bodied, simple and refreshing.
3.0 Rated on 3-27-2011 (Bottle purchased at Total Wine & More-Ft. Myers, FL) This bottled beer pours a very, very small fizzy white head with a lengthy retention, opaque body, and one ring of lacing. The aromas are wheat, yeast, lemony, bananas, spicy, and clove. The taste is sweet, clove, bananas, wheat, citrus, lemon, and clean tasting. The mouthfeel is mildly tingly carbonation, and this beer is medium bodied. This is a session beer and an adequate beer on a hot, humid day.
3.4 Aroma of cloves and banana’s, pale yellow slightly cloudy with a small well laced head. Taste of bananas with a hint of clove. A watery short lasting palate of spice.
3.3 Pours a hazy honey olden with a nice ivory head. Aroma is mainly fruity - banana, orange and lemon - with a wheaty underpinning. Wheaty flavor has citrus, banana and subtle yeasty notes, as well as an odd metallic tang. Texture is fairly fizzy and firm, but that metal edge haunts the finish. Still, feel he love!
3.3 Draft in Alexandria. Poured fizzy orange yellow. Some bananas cloves etc. Passable hefe.
1.7 Bottle, twist off, packaged on 09/05/13. Nose is stale, just yeast gone bad, rubbery and seemingly autolytic. Pours orange-golden with an ephemeral oily off-white head. Taste isn’t as bad, lemon and sweet malt, sweet without real bitterness, and oily but somewhat malty full body, lighter carbonation with too-hot jammy/fruity esters -- too-hot fermentation? The end result is still really dirty and this batch maybe shouldn’t have been released, but it’s probably fine as a fourth or fifth beer of the night. Just not a good idea for introducing newbies to the style.
1.9 Not much of an aroma - somewhat sweet (bubblegummy); clear with a thin head; sweet taste; thin and really fizzy (high carbonation) - overall a light, sweet and fruity wheat beer - not as drinkable as some (I would have to switch after 2 or 3 to something more bitter). I’ll take a free one but I probably won’t buy this again
3.2 another brew from my sister. pours hazy dark gold, light cap, moderate visible carbonation. wheat, light black pepper nose. taste has an abundance of cloves, but is not too much. light body.
3.3 Bottle at home. Aroma is ripe banana, yeast, bubble gum, spice. Light bodied, prickly high carbonation, creamy wheat palate. Flavor is yeasty, sweet, grassy, herbal, with a bit of lemon and toast on the finish.
3.2 Pours hazy gold with a small white head. Aroma is yeast, wheat and banana with a touch of clove. Taste is sweet with a tart bite. Light to medium bodied, smooth.
3.1 12 oz bottle pours hazy golden with a white head . Aroma of sweet malts, cloves, yeast and grass . Taste is malts, bananas and cloves.
