4.3 Woo Woo! 3FG, got this beer right every time. I’ve loved this beer since I can remember drinking beer in a green bottle. Then you came out with a tall can, and no more broken glass around the fire. Has a pepper bite at times but is so refreshing after a long day of work. When all else fails steamers are my beer of choice. It’s so natural and no preservatives. I feel so healthy drinking steam whistle! Woo Woo....
3.0 Cerveja amarga, normal Cervejaria no centro de Toronto, Canadá
2.4 Thanks again to Derek for this one. Pours a clear golden with a minimal white head. The aroma is very weak, but what I find is a slight positive. Bread, grass, and some spice. The taste is dry and with a light bitterness. Flavors are mild here, which include bread, floral hops and grass, corn, and grain. The grain comes through most at the end, resulting in a short finish. Light to medium in body and kind of a coarse texture. This is definitely drinkable, but there is little else going for it.
2.8 A single tall can from Liquor Barn in Burnaby Heights. A translucent pale amber beer with plenty of white head. The nose is faint. Mildly but crisply hopped and mild malted note in the background. Not a world class lager by any means, but a great improvement over the taste of water. 2.8
3.4 Draught @ Brewery: This one pours a clear, golden yellow. There was a bit of a white head and some lacing. Decent enough nose. Some malts, earthy and grassy hops, some peppery notes. The taste is good. A touch of bitterness, some malts and earthy hops. A decent pils.
2.0 Sampled on draft this beer poured a yellow gold color with a medium sized foamy white head. The aroma was buttery and lightly perfumey. The flavor was buttery and off with light floral and fruity hops. Medium length finish. Medium body.
3.0 Jasper 19/7 2018. 34,1 cl bottle on Something Else Steakhouse in Jasper. Howling Steam Whistle printed on the light green bottle. Tagline: “The Good Beer, Folks”. Pours clear yellow with small white head. Settles as thin, almost transparent layer of foam barely covering the surface of the beer. No lacing. Aroma is of sweet malts, light smoke, light sour notes and a little saltiness. Medium carbonation. Thin, watery, lively texture. Flavor is medium sweet followed by and balanced by medium bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter. Semi-dry finish. Simple bitter and refreshing. What is not to like?
3.0 A very summery beer. Light bodied, slightly grassy hoppy taste with that slight bitterness you tend to find in pilsners. I enjoy it and would definitely recommend.
3.3 Grassy hops, some biscuit but overall quite mild. Looks refreshing. Taste is solid, can taste the hops and malts. Light bitterness and sweetness. Decent Pilsner but by no means stellar.
1.8 It's definetly a pilsner. Bottle, light yellowish color. Typical lager smell. A taste that disappeared fast.
3.7 Can and bottle on numerous occasions. Clear golden body, big white head with good retention and plenty of lacing. Clean, crisp aroma of grains, herbal hops, biscuit and hints of peppercorn. Taste of grains, herbs, lemon zest, grass and peppercorn. Very nice.
3.1 A very refreshing Pilsner! There's really nothing wrong I can say about this beer totally refreshing, cool bottle easy drinking with grassy earthy notes with a malt backbone. Good on a hot Summer's Day can definitely pound a few of these back with a nice barbecue.
3.6 Good beer. Easy to drink. Golden hay, not too bitter, good with spicy and flavorful foods.
4.0 Nice crisp solid hoppy flavour. I rarely drink Pilsners but Steamwhistle is definitely one of the better ones. Went to the distillery in Toronto and had a few fresh samples, it really got me hooked.
3.7 Ar: A bit of sulfur; round, graceful malt, very light toast; hay and dried grass. Ap: Golden and clear; medium off-white head with moderate retention, settling into a slightly webby crown that slowly thins toward the center. T: Clean, doughy malt; grass and dried mixed flowers; noble hop aroma is prominent; just the right amount of sulfur to give it a lager-y feel; very low sweetness; bitterness is medium-high and firm; finish is black pepper, noble hops, and dried crackers. P: Medium-light body with very high carbonation; finish is dry. O: Tasty, well-made lager; yeast profile is clean yet accentuates the crackery malt and noble hoppiness; quaffable but still flavorful.
3.4 Pours a beautiful clean gold, with a large white head. Very carbonated. Aromas of hops, citrus, and grains. Taste is very clean and crisp, with a slightly hoppy finish. The body doesn't have many flavours, which I would say is the biggest flaw with this beer. I wouldn't say it tastes like water, but it is definitely lacking a little in taste. Finish is good though. Steam Whistle is what got me hooked on beer, and I love it for that. It's definitely not my favorite, but it's not a bad beer and is something that I'd be comfortable drinking at a party or just for the taste. This, and Belgian Moon, are my go to low-end beers. Definitely better than Stella, Coors and Bud Light and the hoppy finish make this very different from what those other beers have to offer
3.6 Steam whistle is nice full body Pilsner with rich color and licorice overtones.
3.0 Not bad. I’m not a big Pilsner guy but on a summer day it could hit the spot.
4.8 my go to beer for when I'm cooking or working outside. clean and crisp with a slight hop finnish.
2.5 On tap in Toronto hotel about 1/4 mile from the lakeside restaurant. Clear gold. Minimal head. Some lacing as beer is consumed. Aroma corn and light grain. Crisp and light bodied. European hops clear. Okay but not anything special.
3.5 Clean and crisp and not to hoppy!
3.0 Draft. Clear golden color white head. Lightly peppery aroma. Taste is clean crisp and light
3.4 This one was the subject of numerous discussions between me and my godson. Tried it tonight as my wife and I went to a good restaurant to celebrate a new work. A slight mint and pine taste. Makes me think a bit about the old 'biere d'epinette'.
3.8 Malty green-tasting pilsner with a glowing aftertaste. That said, doesn't stand out, perhaps insufficiently crisp for a pilsner - too fat on the mouth. Deep golden dehydrated liquid colour. Tasted at the brewery in Toronto. Not helped by plastic containers. Rating has "holiday boost".
3.0 Grass and biscuits scents. Pours golden with fast dissipating white head. Flavors of yeast malt and bread. Slightly hoppy astringent finish. Not bad, eh.
3.1 Nice pleasant beer. Brewery is in a great location and the tour is good fun.
2.4 A rather bland Pilsner. Good appearance, but taste is slightly sweet, with a rather vegetal finish. Not much malt flavour. Not great.
2.7 Decent pilsner, nice fermented grain aroma, a bit bitter with slight creamy wheat/bread aftertaste.
3.3 Decent for a light beer. Bad for a pilsner. Always skunked in bottles, better from a can.
2.0 Keg at Nando’s, Ottawa. Clear golden, creamy head. Floral nose with some grass and boiled vegetables. Sweet and fruity with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Ripe apples, boiled cabbage and grass. Light resiny bitter finish. Too sweet with too much off flavours. Low drinkability.
