Stillwater Contemporary Works Mono

Stillwater Contemporary Works Mono

Mono is an evolution of the ’single hop’ phenomenon. While Galaxy is the stated hop on the label, the true concept here is to display the headliner in it’s greatest form possible, and if you ask me every hop is better when paired or supported by others. So we added some accents of Centennial & Sterling to widen the frequency and crank up the volume of bright tangerine, grapefruit, and fresh grass.

3.6 12 oz pour from bottle into Spiegelau IPA glass. Pours hazy, decent head, pale yellow. Nose is dry, slightly grainy, maybe a hint of citrus. Thin dry body. Taste is dry and crisp, a little bitter, a little tangy. The hops add a nice dimension for a pilsner.
3.2 Bottle. Pours a light golden color with a foamy head. Aroma of citrus, light fruit and bit of malt sweetness. Taste of citrus and light fruit and nominal malt sweetness. Mild bitterness and a fairly clean finish. Light body, smooth with an herbal feel.
3.4 12oz bottle - pours a very light yellow, somewhat cloudy with a big fluffy off white head. Full Pilsner aroma with mild grassy and lemony hops. Solid Pilsner base ( malt and wheat ) with layered hop ( citrus and grass ). Well done
3.1 Bottle from Beer Cartel 110516. This is a beer that didn’t really jump out and grab me and while it was nice enough it just lacked a little something. There were fruit aromas and flavours but I had to really work to get them, not that that is a bad thing.
3.5 33cl bottle. Hazy gold color. Thin white head. Taste is medium bitter, light sweet. Aroma is pinneapple, hops, grass. Pretty tasty.
3.2 Bottle. Pours golden with a thin white head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. A bit of grass on the nose. A bit of floral on the tongue. Finished clean. Solid but I’m not understanding the massive ratings for this one.
3.5 Bottle 35,5cl / Botella 35,5cl. @ LaBIRRAtorium, Madrid, España. A: Hazy golden / Dorado turbio. T/S: Hops, citrusy, fruity, slightly malty / Lupulo, citrico, afrutado, ligeramente malteado.
4.6 So good. Aroma is fresh hop, beery, Flavor’s like nose, crisp up front followed by bittersweet. Extremely clean & well balanced. Perfect palate. Ditto the finish. Can’t get easier drinking than this.
3.7 This was poured into a pilsener glass. The appearance was a hazy burnt orange to ruddy yellow color. A one finger white foamy head started and dissipated at a nice pace. Light messy foamy to bubbly lacing sticks to the glass. The smell started off with some sweet tropical fruits and then a gentle crisp malt backbone wraps around the aroma nicely. The taste took all of those previously mentioned flavors and combined nicely. Light breadiness. Lingering sweet hops and malty aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a good sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fairly smooth and light. Overall, good pilsener or premium lager. I’d have again.
3.6 Bottle from Perfect Pour. Nice golden body with big head. Nose is hoppy, grassy. Taste is hops, caramel, bitter. Crisp and bitter finish.
3.5 Stillwater Mono 5.2% I served mine in a lager glass where it revealed a thick fluffy white head and soft golden body. The beer has a candyish tropical fruit hop bouquet the includes grass, grape and very mild pine notes - very much the scents I associate with Galaxy hops. Medium bodied with a silky mouthfeel and semi-dry finish. The taste is minty grape, lightly piney with crackery Pilsner malts. Bright and crisp flavors, this is a solid hoppy pils that is perfect for a relaxing after-work beer.
3.6 Dorado lechoso, espuma blanca compacta. Aromas herbáceos, cítricos, ligero sulfuro y fondo maltoso. Cuerpo medio-bajo, maltoso con sabor inteso cítrico, pino y final seco de amargor moderado.
3.4 Bottle. Hazy orange with a white head. Aroma of grapefruit, honeydew melon, oranges, hay. Punchy hops with upfront bitterness, pithy and juicy citrus in the taste too. Soft bread and grains behind. Some peach/ tropical bubblegum-like flavours Pretty good.
3.5 Aroma floral, citrus, Appearance golden, hazy, white foam, Taste medium sweetness, medium bitterness, Overall I don’t know what I was expecting from a premium lager but it was not this. That’s a good thing though. This beer was full of citrus fruit flavors and a lot more bitter than I was expecting. I would suggest this beer to a friend.
3.9 Bottle. Pours a hazed gold with a large white head. Big musk, grain, lemon dust, melon. Medium bodied, sweet melon and papaya, smooth grain. Dusty bitterness into the finish, musk. Smooth and easy drinking with a nice amount of grain, musk, and sweet melon.
3.8 Very foamy white head. Earthy malt with a dry and crisp hoppiness that brings grapefruit notes with a bitterness through the finish. Damned good.
4.0 Bottle from Colonial Spirits. Deep yellow color decent long lasting off white head. Tropical citrus earth and pine hop notes with plenty of sweet bready pilsner malt to counter. I inhaled this, its a hell of a session brew.
3.0 On tap at CBC15. Golden body with white head. Aroma is sweet pale malt, light caramel, some fruit, bread and citrus. Taste is similar, bready sweet malt, light caramel and hops.
3.2 interesting beer, I do wonder though how a beer with Galaxy Hops can define itself as a pilsner. Pour is light orange with thin white head and is rather cloudy. Flavour is clean bready malts with some citrus notes and an assertive bitter finish.
3.5 Lager-pilsner. Dry hopped lager. Pretty interesting hop mix. On tap at owl farm.
3.5 Clean ish golden body, bubbly head. Fresh palate, melon, lime, some sharper notes too, touch alcohol. Warming full flavoured body, fairly cleanly fermented though. Drinkable strong bitterness. Nice brew ! (33cl bottle from QV.ID)
3.9 Draught @ CBC 2015. Pours tiny hazy pale golden with a frothy white head that leaves some sticky lacing and trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is slightly malty and slightly floral with crackers, freshly baked white bread, hay, dried yellow flowers, minerals and lemon peal. Taste is bitter, grassy and floral. Mouthfeel is crisp, dry, tiny astringent and light bodied. Finish is bitter with crackers, white bread, hay, minerals and lemon peal. Bright, crisp and hugely refreshing pale lager. Love it!
3.4 From bottle. Pours slight hazy golden orange with a big white head. Aroma of citrus, light fruits, weedy notes and bread. Flavour is above light sweet and over moderate bitter. Light to light medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
3.7 12 ounce bottle from Wine Warehouse Charlottesville. Hazy yellow, large foamy white head, good retention. Aroma of dry citrus and pale bready malt. The taste is dry citrus, zest, pith, bready malt and milt toastiness. Medium bodied, well balanced. Solid.
2.8 12oz pour at Of Love and Regret pours a clear gold with some sudsy, white head. Nose has yeast, some lemon, a little tropical fruit, mild candy. Flavor has bread dough, lemon, some fruit, a little cheese rind. Dry finish. Sorta meh.
3.8 Pours gold into a tulip. White head with good retention recedes leaving trailing sheets. Blue cheese (?!?) aromas. Medium bodied and dry with caramel and hay upfront turning to mild earthy citrus in the lasting finish.
4.1 A lager? I’m surprised. Tastes more like a pale ale. Hop character is great. Tropical fruit aroma, some citrus finish and a pleasant malty body.
4.0 Overall: Hoppy, citric, fresh. Dry. Note: Bottle 355 ml at Gnarly Burger - The Restaurant. Reviewed 2015-11-11.
3.1 On tap at All In Beer Fest. Fruity, hoppy smell with tropical fruits. Similar hoppy taste. Very high carbonation. Sharp medium bitterness.
3.3 Bottle. Lemon-orange malt and tinny orange peel aroma. Cloudy medium yellow with moderate head. Sweet citrus, biscuit malt, and moderately bitter grassy orange peel flavor. Good body.
