Stillwater Contemporary Works Stereo

Stillwater Contemporary Works Stereo

Stillwater IPA? WTF, right? Well truth be told we love a good IPA just as much as the next guy and besides, whats more contemporary then a American IPA? The lean base of Pilsner malt with the lightest touch of caramel support this high definition blend of 5 different hops gathered from all over the world. Bright citrus, stone fruit, pine, earth, dank, and crisp.

3.6 Golden colour, white head. Malty aroma, lots of soap, hops, onion, citrus and grapefruit. Bitter flavour, malts, hops, caramel and tropical fruits. Bitter finish, lemon peel, the bitter white stuff just below the lemon skin. (from 33cL bottle @ Leuven Innovation, Leuven 2015)
3.4 12oz bottle. Small off-white head atop yeast-flecked apple cider body. Aroma is moderately sweet, grapefruit/orange, some pine, light spicy. Taste is moderately sweet, pine, some grapefruit rind, light peach. Medium body, some resin.
3.6 Very decent American IPA. Complex and bitter draft, a good thirst quencher with a punch to it.
4.3 Mooi oranje licht troebel bier met fijne witte schuimkraag. Aroma en smaken van citrus, mandarijn, caramel. Lekker bitter met een lange droge afdronk die je doet verlangen naar een volgende slok. Prima ipa.
3.4 Draft. An amber beer with a lazing yellowish head. The aroma has notes of straw, hops, and citrus fruits. The flavor is sweet with notes of straw, hops, and citrus fruits, leading to a bitter finish.
4.0 From a 355ml bottle on 22/7/2016. Pors a cloudy golden with a small heam. The nose is distinct - very herbal and with lots of fruity hops. Flavour wise, there’s a good dash of sweet fruit (peach and apricot), a dash of lemon, some biscuity malt, followed by some big, satisfying, resiny, slightly salty hops. The palate is slick and oily, with average carbonation. All up, a very well put together, characterful IPA.
3.0 Bottle from Last Drop. Hazy deep maize pour, coarse white head. The nose is a bit concerning--mostly aged hops, almost like a barleywine, with a touch of pool chlorine. Flavor more or less follows. Fairly aggressive oily IPA, dank but throwback, again those aged hops, caramel. I doubt this bottle arrived in the best of condition, but it’s a fairly recent arrival at the Last Drop I believe, and no date is printed on the label, so I’m holding Stillwater (which I usually very much like) fully responsible in this score. It’s no drainpour, but surrounded by all of the excellent IPAs in town this summer, this doesn’t come close to making the grade.
3.5 33cl bottle @El Lúpulo Feroz, Oviedo. 22-02-2016. BBD:12-2016. Pours cloudy golden with frothy white head. Citrusy, zesty, pine, herbal nose, weak aromas. Medium body, average carbonation, crispy texture.Rather same flavours. Dry finish.
3.4 cloudy orange color with a thin white head. aroma is grassy and citrus hops. Flavor is citrus and pine hops, with light caramel and a hint of pepper.
3.9 Pours a murky orange-yellow with a foamy white head. Aroma is spicy, almost rye, citrus, pine, floral hops, and peach. Flavor is more on the fruit end, with some juicy resin, spicy hops, and floral notes. Has medium carbonation and moderate bitterness. This does manage to stand out in the growing crowd of IPAs on the market. Rather good.
3.1 Bottiglia.
3.6 Cloudy, sedimented orange pour, veneer of a white head. Nose is citrus and earth. Bitter. Middle is creamy malt, spruce, orange zest. Finish is caramel and hops.
3.0 bottle oro carico velata schiuma abbondante persistente naso stanco cotto molto resinoso cosi in bocca amaro intenso
3.8 4/22/2016: Citrus, light caramelized malt and slightly grassy hops in the aroma; golden color, creamy off-white head; really nice malty sweetness up front primes the palate and then parts to let the orangey citrus and ripe fleshy fruit hop flavors come through nicely, alcohol is hidden, clean bitterness and flavors throughout and clean finish; medium body, soft mouthfeel; I really enjoyed this particular IPA, it is well-crafted, drank really well on its own and paired nicely with the burgers and fries, it was also way better that the Stone Enjoy By 4-20-16 IPA when tried side by side (Stillwater Stereo was very different and way more my kind of IPA). Draught at Nation Bar & Grill in Cincinnati, Ohio.
3.7 Cloudy gold appearance with a large white head and good lacing. Floral notes along with various citrus fruits and some light spiciness frame the aroma. Grassy, earthy, cracker-like tastes yield to the grapefruit and resin flavors. Modest amount of sweetness in the aftertaste, but otherwise, stays dry and bitter. Medium bodied, well carbonated mouthfeel with a lingering finish.
3.7 bottle. Deep golden with a little bit of haze and one finger head. A very Mikkeller-ish IPA -- reminds a bunch of the single hop series. Light to medium pilsner malt with some caramel. Earthy, herbal hops. Good, just not what I expected from Stillwater.
3.9 From bottle into wet snifter, beautiful orange hue with visible sediment and a dissipating head. I smell more orange than I taste; I taste more grapefruit than I smell. Very nice body on this one with lingering bitters.
4.1 12 oz bottle purchased at Haskells in St. Paul. Consumed on Day 2 of March Madness with commonshawn. Aroma is big and citrusy bringing to mind mandarin oranges you used to eat out of the can as a kid. Appearance is a deep golden orange color with initial froth before dissipation. Taste has a nice mix of floral, citrus, and pine elements. Plenty of grapefruit/orange characteristics blend well with a hoppy bitterness. Bright and refreshing come to mind as accurate deScriptors. It sounds like a really good idea to find this one again.
4.2 12oz bottle from Haskells with commonmac during March madness. Cloudy light orange with sediment and medium short white head. Smells of tart oranges. Sticky, fairly thick. Some tart funk. Otherwise pine citrus hop. Nice flavor and nice balance. This is quite good.
3.2 12oz bottle into glass. Nice large pure white head. Cloudy orange/peach colored, sediment prevalent. Aroma of grain, pear, hay, citrus, hops. Taste of dominant sour orange with hop appeal. Bitter aftertaste, not sure when this was bottled. Grapefruit appears too, in aroma and taste. Will not purchase again.
3.4 Nose is sweet and fruity. Flavor is Pilsner like very bitter, slightly dank and malty. Was excited for this from the ranking but disappointed when I actually had it
3.7 Keg at mother kellys. Pours hazy orange, nose is pithy orange, pineapple, taste is sweet, toffee, light fruit.
3.7 Bottle 35,5cl / Botella 35,5cl. @ Guevara & Lynch, Sevilla, España. A: Hazy golden / Dorado turbio. T/S: Hops, citrusy, fruity, resinous / Lupulo, citrico, afrutado, resinoso.
3.6 Bottle from Perfect Pour. Nice orange body with slight head. Nose is floral, hoppy, fruity. Taste is hoppy, sweet, floral. Creamy texture. Bitter finish.
3.3 I may not be giving this a fair shake since I had it right after a big mosaic DIPA, so nothing is blowing me away. It's very different than most Stillwater beers and is nicely balanced. It just may have more hop boldness than I'm giving it credit for.
3.9 Tap. Mother Kelly’s, Bethnal Green. Hazy orange. Thick, bubbly, lasting off white head. Nose has crisp, lemony malts. Some straw. White grape. Taste is clean, crisp dry and bitter. Bright, lively palate. Zesty bitter finish. Smashable!
4.3 Stereo’s got an eye-catching bottle and a cool name, but beyond that does it really have what it takes to be relevant in a hop-crazed world? Turns out it does. Hazy, sudsy appearance. Lovely tropical bouquet of peach, pineapple, clementine, tangerine, mango, pine, and orange cream on the nose. Palate is sticky, thick, crisp, bitter, and bright. Complex yet cohesive flavors. Grass, grapefruit zest, peach, nectar, ginger, and garlic. This is an aggressive IPA, and its layers help to differentiate it in what can be a cookie-cutter style.
3.4 Not a great aroma, at least not a fresh aroma. Grapefruit, some caramel, floral and green notes. Deep amber color with white, frothy, head. Sweet caramel, a lot of Tangerine and orange Juice, vegetale for the bitter. Not fresh, smooth and watery, deserves a fresher bottle.
3.5 33cl bottle courtesy of and shared with Kermis. Thin ring white head. Slightly hazy golden pour. Lovely bitterness.
3.4 Bottle shared. Hazy orange with an off white head. Aroma of grapefruit, dank hops, caramel malt, orange peel and floral notes. Flavour is moderate sweet and over moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
