Stillwater Contemporary Works Yacht

Canned beer has made a serious return in the craft brewing world. Prior to this resurgence, the only beer found in cans were industrial lagers. So as a nod in both directions we present an elegantly crisp and hoppy new world lager. The light and refreshing pilsner malt body delivers an abundance of floral, spice, and grass driven hop flavors and aroma. Perfect for those luxurious cruises through the Caribbean.

2.6 4/28/16. Tallboy can from Craft on Draft. Lightly floral aroma, pale malts, grassy. Okay flavor, floral again, grassy, biting, sort of doughy. Eh.
3.3 Can. Hazy gold with a fading white head. A: light bread/ crackers, grass, some lemon. Taste is along those lines with the balance more in favour of hops than expected from the aroma. Too much, in my view. Quite punchy spices come in at the end along with pith. Pretty good, but nacht as good as Mono.
3.9 Can at Titans. Nice floral aroma, light and breezy. Taste has nice maltiness, finish is very hoppy. Almost soapy citrus hoppiness. Very nice. Easy going.
3.7 Can at Titans. Nice glowing pastel yellow, cloudy. Big grassy dry hop nose, pot, grapefruit, crackers. Light, crisp and hoppy with a very bitter finish. Like it.
3.7 Can at MIA. Killer in it’s style. Some mild pine and citrus. Crisp lager. Glad to have tried this.
3.3 Can at home. Pours clear gold with a medium, frothy white head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is moderate grassy and herbal hops with Pils and corny malt. Flavor is medium grassy and herbal hops and bitterness with corny and Pils malt and a dry finish. Light body and moderate carbonation.

3.5 Pour from a very nice looking can. Hazy golden with a small white head that leaves pretty nice lacing. Nose is of cooked cereals and a little wort-y with some herbs. Taste is fruity and moderately bitter with some lightly bready cereals. Moderate body, moderate carbonation. Overall a pretty nice lager that is both ultra drinkable and tasty.
2.9 500mL can, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out notes of corn, straw and light phenolic notes. Flavour is similar, with notes of straw, corn, and light grass. Some light alcoholic notes. Solid stuff for a pale lager.
3.5 can. pours unclear light golden with a small white cap, reviving and leaving some lacing. pilsner maltiness, lots of grains, some pale melanoidin, herbal-grassiness, definitely noble, spicy and dusty as well, clean lagering yeast, earthy traces. moderate carbonation, light body - thin if not watery; dry and crisp herbal finish. very nice light lager.
3.3 16 oz can poured a clear gold with a small lingering whote head. Aromas of bread, yeast, lemon zest and a hint of earthinesd. Palate was light bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of bread, yeast and light earthiness eith a smooth dry finish.
3.2 Pours a cloudy yellow with a thick white head has a citrus aroma The Taste is more Floral overall not a bad beer for a session 16 ounce can from World of Beers Middleton Wisconsin
3.1 clear very bright yellow pour. Aroma dough lemons peaches. tastes grassy slight juniper. a bit too resinous to session hard
3.7 Can. Golden with two finger head. It’s hard to get excited about a pale lager, but this is excellently done. Light body. Mild citrus and grass. Moderate hops. Really well balanced.
3.4 Can. Golden pale, vazy. Pretty intense fruity hoppy nose, citrus, some gingery dishwash, pale malty, lagery floury characters. Soft round bodied, citrus lemony, bitters. Flavourful, bit perfumy floral. Kinda ok. -- rated with beerbasher/winphone
3.8 On tap at 109 Brews. It poured a yellow color with a white head. The aroma was of florals, hops, grain and fruits. The taste was similar to the aroma with more florals, citrus, herbs, grass, grain and hops. It had a nice citrus and hop finish. Good stuff.
3.5 16 ounce can from Our Daily Bread in Chatham, NY, sampled a few minutes out of the fridge in a Fitger’s pint glass. The pale, very clear gold is certainly reminiscent of plenty of macro lagers, but the big fluffy long-lasting head and substantial lacing denotes something hopefully at least a little better...aroma is grassy and light floral hops, perhaps the faintest hint of adjunct (corn) sugars but mostly just fresh grasses and a bit of pils malt...on the tongue, that hoppiness is evident throughout, but it never takes over and approaches a pilsener character, just a light bite throughout joined by a bit of burnt hardness at the finish...mostly this offers light sweetness and a grainy character, becoming dry and crisp fairly quickly after the initial sugars play out...it’s quite full-bodied for the style, not in the least watery though certainly not as hefty as a typical lighter ale or a helles or some of the other styles in this alcohol range. I can’t quite rave about this like some have, but certainly if considered against it’s competition, I can understand why it’s currently at the top. Very well done, and were this readily available to me and fairly cheap I’m sure it’d compete with Sierra Nevada Summerfest for my simple beer choice for hot weather.
3.6 Tall can from Whole Foods, Columbus Circle. Hazy light yellow with puffy, lasting head. Nose is strong citrus, hops. Taste is hops, grassy, citrus, funky. Smooth, creamy finish. Good stuff.
3.2 Can in a Restaurant in Brooklyn - I was delighted to see this one on the card as its ranked nr 1 in Pale Lager, so I happily spent the seven Dollar. Pale yellow color, small head. Aroma is citrus, lemon, perfumed. Light malty. Body is a bit too watery. Okay.
3.4 Hazy pale yellow, medium head, fruity aroma, lemon, peach, carambola, fruity flavor, lemon, peach, carambola, bitter, light sweetness, medium bodied.
3.4 Can @ OlutExpo 2016. Pours golden orange with a smooth head. Aroma of soapy hops, grass, hay and citrus. Taste is soapy hoppy and grassy with some hints of breadiness. Finish is crisp, sweetish and slightly buttery with hints of grass and hay. Okay hoppy lager.
3.1 Sample from the can at Olutexpo 2016, Helsinki. Colour is clear golden with small white head. Aromas and flavors: Fruits, citrus, some hops and malts.
3.3 Pours yellow with a large head. Nose shows soft floral and herbal hops, light doughy wheat notes. Flavours include spicy and herbal hops as well as a bit of biscuity malt.
3.7 Nice lager...perfectly soured with the pale malt body. Light drinkable with a good kick.
2.9 Can from Beer Cartel 041016. While this is better than the majority of pale lagers that I have tried it still doesn’t get me excited but that’s just the nature of the beast I guess. Big soapy looking head that slowly fades away. Murky looking straw colour with a musky earthy aroma that maches the flavour. While it may be sessionable I couldn’t see myself having a session on it.
3.9 Can at Folly. I didn’t realize this beer’s style and percentage until I looked at the can. Pours hazy gold, extremely dry for a lager, a backbone of funk instead of any body, a bit of lemon or citrus, really delicious.
3.6 Can from Craft and Draft Columbia. I love a well brewed lager and this is certainly one. Nicely hopped but also a good malt balance. A floral flavor that reminds me of honeysuckle in the finish. Definitely a top shelf pale lager.
3.7 Wow a top 50 pale lager. Have to respect that...but it’s not really a pale lager, it’s a pilsner, isn’t it? Clear bright golden color with a well-formed white head. The aroma has hay, grass, and floral notes. The flavor has sweet pilsner malt and a medium hop punch. Light and crisp with good carbonation. Very nice for the (supposed) style.
3.4 Pours a hazy straw yellow with a very foamy white head. Aroma is grassy, floral, and pine hops, a little soapy. Flavor is clean bread malts and floral hops. Has a crisp, light, and refreshing body, with a touch of bitterness. Nicely done, if not quite as good as other dry-hopped lagers out there.
