Stillwater Sensory Series v.1 - Lower Dens

The Stillwater Sensory Series is a collaboration between Stillwater Artisanal and singular musical artists. In this first collaboration, Stillwater works with Lower Dens to make an ale based on an interpretation of their song, "In the End is the Beginning." On the bottle itself, a QR code will link to an exclusive Lower Dens performance of the song. Ultimately, this is a true artistic collaboration that aims to create a full sensory experience - sound, sight, smell, touch, and taste. www.stillwatersensory.com

3.6 From a bottle. Pours opaque peach/gold with a bubbly, frothy white head. Tastes nice, light, refreshing like light herb, light floral hops, light citrus. Light body and low/medium carbonation. Smells like light herb, citrus, floral.
3.4 Bonito color pajizo algo blanquecino. Espuma normal. Bastante turbia. Aroma escaso algo lacteo. Mucho mejor en boca con una excelente textura, abundante efervescencia que refesca y a la vez resalta un sabor muy agradable. malta acaramelada. Cítrica. Seca al final. Picante. Sabrosa.
3.7 6% ABV Nice thick head. Light yellow coloring, invitingly bubbly. Nice wheaty nose. Moderate carbonation. Refreshing all the way finishing with moderate-heavy hops. Nice. Coming in a 6%, it is just about where I get a nice buzz without losing too much flavor experience. Has a nice floral finish and after taste that lingers very pleasantly, ethereally light on on the palate. I’ll have to try this again before deciding if it goes on the Favorites List.
2.1 Rótulo bonito, mas é a única coisa que a cerveja tem de bom. Não gostei. Esperava mais.
3.8 Aroma of fresh fruit. Nice thick head. It's quick & impactful on the palate. The flavour is lemon, apple & vanilla. Clean finish, with an ever so slight lingering flavour.
3.4 Farm aroma. Big fomay head on cloudy yellow. Not so bad a bite on mouthfeel. Spicy and drinkable.
4.2 Hazy golden color with a thick white head. Aroma is peppery with a bit of lemon. Flavor is bright citrus with a bit of pepper and spices. Very flavorful and light. Wife: 4.2
2.5 375 ml. bottle. Top of bottle rimmed with a heavy layer of yeast, which have a heavy taste of pine, resin citrus peel. Pours a thick off white head, which gradually collapses, over a hazy, gold (SRM 5) body.....nose is light colored fruits, with pear, apple tones, light toasted malts, minimal herbal hop notes....taste is slightly bitter to start, with light cereal, toasted barley notes, leading to light colored fruits, and slight spice.....mouth feel, light of medium body, no alcohol, no astringency, slight acid, fizzy carbonation. The evaluation is based on this particular bottle. This is one of those craft beers where it is almost impossible to figure out what they were aiming for. This is a complete muddle of aroma and flavor, with almost nothing really coming together. it is not worth drinking. BJCP 5/1/9/3/5
3.2 Pours amber with a large head. Nose shows saison yeast, soft spicy, floral and pear notes. Flavours include a stronger hibiscus note along with a bit of orange marmalade. Some farmhouse yeast notes remain. Finishes very dry. Carbonation is much too high.
3.0 Bottle. Frothy White good mostly lasting head. Yellow colour. Light malty and hoppy herbal aroma. Moderate bitter flavor. Week hibiscus and/or brett notes. Average moderate bitter finish. oily palate.
3.0 Bottle from Valhalla’s goat. hazy pale blonde with white lacing. Dry, savoury, marmite, yeast esters and black pepper on nose. Moderate carbonation, light, floral, custard, touch of vanilla maybe slightly oxidised papery.
3.9 Bottle. Golden pour with white head. Spice, yeast and sweet aromas. Light citrus, yeast, herbal and spice flavors. A little over carbed, otherwise very nice.
3.5 A floral ale not a million miles removed from a saison. Quite a subtle beer and very sessionable. Intriguing appearance: pale gold with extremely busy champagne-like carbonation and a fat head that stayed better than Phar Lap. Unsurprisingly, the aroma is decidedly floral - hibiscus, presumably, although my knowledge of flora is half-baked at best. Very grainy, almost wit-like, with some Belgian yeasty notes. The nose is too restrained to really excite the senses. Medium-bodied and soft in the mouth - not at all prickly considering the visible bubbles. Very rounded flavours - grains, violet candies and faint dried fruit with just a hint of sourness and blue-cheese funk to disrupt what might otherwise be a tad bland. Artisanal indeed. (375ml bottle from Leura Cellars)
3.4 375ml bottle pours hazy dark orange with a finger of head. Nose is musty bready grain, yeast spice, apple, floral citrus. Taste is bready malt, grain, white wine, apple juice, light spice, soft yeast. Finish is dry bready malt, yeasty spice, white grape juice, apple. Ok I guess, but I don’t really know what this beer is trying to be. Underwhelming.
3.2 Pours a murky, wheat-golden with a white head. Mead-wheat nose. Full body with a light scrub. Pleasant. Much more sweet than tart. Beligany, wheaty, and easy-drinking.
3.1 Bottle - Funky lemon, herbal and chalky. Cloudy yellow gold with a decent white head. Funky yeast, fruity banana esters, light citrus and spice. A wild Hef if anything.
3.2 Bottle to IPA glass Celery, apricot, peat, lemon, green apple or cider, and funk. Amberish yellow with a bright white frothy head with lots of lacing. Wheat, cider, grass, and funk. Well, that’s smell, sight, touch and taste done, and throughout, I’ve been listening to Lower Dens. A bit strange...but that won’t affect my beer rating.
3.6 375 ml bottle from Premier Gourmet. Pours a murky dull golden colour with large, dense white head. Aroma is effervescent fruitiness, flowers, light spice and grains. Flavour is quite fruity with apples and berries, lots of floral character, grains and a little hibiscus and white pepper. Lively carbonation. Interesting one.
4.0 375 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy bright gold color with a 2-3 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings around the glass, with a large amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of lemon zest, pear, apple, white grape, black pepper, hibiscus, wheat, cracker, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and hibiscus/hop notes; with good strength. Taste of lemon zest, pear, apple, white grape, black pepper, hibiscus, wheat, cracker, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Moderate yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon zest, pear, apple, white grape, black pepper, hibiscus, wheat, cracker, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and hibiscus/hop flavors; with a great crisp malt/yeast flavor balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and fairly prickly mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice spiced saison style. All around good complexity and great balance of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and hibiscus/hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
2.9 Bottle thanks to Rainer. Pours a cloudy orange with a frothy off white head that lasts. The aroma is a strong yeast, floral, fruit, and oak, Medium mouthfeel, over carbonated, light leathery finish. Decent
2.9 bottle. Pale straw with one finger head. The story on the bottle would lead you to believe that a flavor explosion is about to happen, but then I take a sip and am severely underwhelmed. It’s just bland in every way. So much so, I can’t even identify what style this is supposed to be.
3.1 Was hoping for more hibiscus, not sure the bottle was really at it's prime though.
3.8 Pours clear gold into a shaker. Bright white head crackles and recedes leaving no lacing. Heather and hay aromas. Crisp with bread, sweet grass, summer flowers and fruits front to back.
3.8 at My place on the Friday I have off b/c busy season just ended. I was e-mailed this morning that I have to go into the office tomorrow to work on the next job I am assigned to for two weeks. Poured into a to-go cup b/c I am about to go to St Annes and get my day drink on with Patrick. big foamy fizzy overcarbonated head. aroma is light citrus hay farmhouse saison tart. taste is fizzy light citrus orange very slight tartness and nice balanced drinkable smoothness. watery, just interesting.
3.6 A bit of an oddball overall. Pours a beautiful glowing golden orange with a general haziness and a dense off white head. The nose is zesty and fruity with light floral and grassy hop aromas. Mild honey and caramel malts upfront with a lack of toasted or roasted malts. Quite floral and fruity with hints of orange and citrus along with white flowers and hibiscus. A bit bitter on the finish with lots of grassy and citrus hops. Light hibiscus pervades the aftertaste with a lingering farmhouse flavour. Overall an interesting twist on a saison perhaps.
3.6 Really pale brown/yellow pour that’s super cloudy, 3 inches of white head. Has the appearance of raw honey. Scent of light belgian yeasts - pepper and soap notes, and tons of floral hops, very strong and cottony. Somewhat high carbonation, clean finish. Flavor at first is a very very well rounded blend of light belgian soapy yeasts and tons of hops, citrus and floral: tastes of lemon, pear, fresh grass, cracked pepper. Taste abruptly changes to pepper and carbon on finish.
3.2 Poured from a 375ml bottle. Slightly gushing upon opening. Pours light golden with a soft pink hue, enormous white head. The aroma is dry and grainy. Soft notes of berries. The flavor is crisp pilsner malts, soft fruitiness-berries, dry. High level of carbonation make this very dry. Okay.
3.7 Bottle. Pours a light burnt golden color with a soft medium head. Nose is yeasty, champagne like, spicy and floral and quite pleasant. Taste is citrusy, and yeasty and tastes more like a saison. Finishes on the same tasting notes , and ends with a champagne sparkle. Nice. Quaff Score 8 / 10
3.4 Pours a golden orange with a white head and aroma of strong spices and yeast. Taste is of lemon zest, citrus, spices, yeast, and floral notes with a spicy, long finish.
3.7 375ml bottle in a tulip while listening to this YouTube video that is linked on the bottle. Pours hazy copper with a lacy, white head. Aroma of spicy yeast, some light citrus, some floral and spice notes, some pale and light caramel malts, a little floral hops, and light funk. Flavor the same with an interesting blend of it all. Average texture. A pretty good beer, pretty unique, but I wish this music was better.
