Stone 7th Anniversary Ale

Stone 7th Anniversary Ale

A Super Special Pale Ale. Amber-ish/dark orange color, quite hoppy with a fruity aroma and upfront flavor. There is a hop-bitterness sting on the tongue at first with noticeable malt reminiscent of a sweet pastry, more fruity hop flavors linger and blend into a toasty-malty balance that comes through in the finish. This full bodied ale is placed nicely on the high side of the scale.

3.7 On tap at Winter Storm ’09. Pours a warm copper color with a trim off-white head. Smells and tastes of orange rind, yeast, hops, caramel, and malt. Balanced, but unambitious next to a lot of other Stone beers.
3.4 Pours a golden amber color. Caramel, sweet malt, bitter hops, and hints of fruit and citrus. It’s alright.
3.6 On tap at Winter Storm. Orangeish color with an off white head. Aroma of sweet malt, yeast, caramel, must and spice. Flavor of flowers, yeast, spice, earth, fruit. A bit strange and couldn’t get a good read on alot of it. That being said, it was still an interesting and nuanced beer.
3.9 Tap at Winter Storm 09. I would drink this early and often. A great red, even though it looks a lot like an IPA. Wonderful red creaminess, very bright fruit and alcohol. Like a simpler YuleSmith.
3.7 Draft at Stone Winter Storm! (01/25/09) Poured a cloudy pale orange with no head. Sweet orange nose. Nice orange flavors with some lite hoppy bitterness. Very smooth and warm in belly. IMHO a little past its prime but great potential inside it!
3.5 On draft at the 2008 Stone Winter Storm Appearance is amazing, cloudy light orange hue, off-white dense and creamy head sustains, big thick lacing all over Smell is solid with subtle pine hops with a sugar coating, some apples and pears come through, very sweet overall Taste is subtle hops and sweet malts, transitions to some grassy and earthy tones, finishes mild with slight alcohol, underwhelming flavors mostly Mouthfeel is medium-bodied, creamy smooth texture, moderate carbonation Drinkability is low to fair, I found the flavors to be lacking and muted, with not much to get excited about, the 7th may have had some unfair competition at the Storm, so I would be willing to try it again for a re-evaluation
4.2 Tapped at Lucky Baldwins Stone party. I think age has treated this beer incredibly. It was me and my brothers favorite of the day and we tried nearly all of them. Huge creamy texture with roasted malts. It was so good, I wonder how I might have rated this upon release.
3.5 22oz bottle, courtesy of wetherel. Thanks, John! Pours a bright, clear orange-amber color; light-tan head with glistening, fine-bubbled lacing. Lots of dried caramel oxidation, dried oranges in the aroma; oxidized, dense, and aromatic. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: dried caramel, some spiciness, and dense yeastiness and dried fruits; very oxidized, dense, and flavorful. Lengthy finish: dried fruits, toasty malts, spice, and toastiness.
3.2 Courtesy of kmweaver. Mostly clear amber body with a small white head. The nose is caramel, pine and citrus. The flavor is moderately sweet, moderately bitter with grapefruit and pine hops, tons of caramel/crystal malt, ice tea and light raisins. Medium body is round with moderate carbonation and a slight astringency.
3.9 On tap. Pours with a small, off-white head covering a hazy amber body. aroma of hops, fruits, sweet berries and caramel. Taste is caramel, hops, some coconut, and a touch of diacetyl butteriness. Mouthfeel is heavy and thick.
3.3 From old tasting notes back when this one was fresh. Sampled from a 22 oz bottle this beer poured a dark amber color with a large tan head. The aroma was strong sweetish fruity hops. The flavor was all about the fruity hops but with an underlying harshness that put me off a bit. Very one dimensional and this one did not really stand out to me.
3.4 From tap at Stone Bistro. Pours hazy orange with a creamy and slight orange coloured head. Dense hoppy and caramel smooth aroma. Light breadish in the inital flavour with a dense hoppy presence. Caramel and mild hoppy finish as the caramel slowly takes over.
3.5 Draft at the Bistro. Pours a semi-hazy dark orange color, with a small off white head. Smells pretty malty, with some sweet dark fruits in the background. The flavor was also quite sweet, with good doses of cinnamon spice making an appearance. Some hops and candy sugar were noticeable as well. Pretty decent for its age still. Not mind blowing, but not too bad.
3.4 Draft at stone. pours deep gold with small head. aroma of caramel and malt with a little citrus. taste has some hop up front with caramel and malt that follows. finish lingers a bit bitter.
3.4 On tap at Stone Bistro for RBSG 08. Gold-amber color with a small white head. Aromas of oxidized hops, overripe apple, and caramel. Light caramel flavor with a lingering tannic finish as the once-prominent hops struggle against age. Sticky/dirty palate.
3.5 ~RBSG ’08~ On tap at Stone. Pours a dark caramel red color, with a fizzy white head and minimal lacing. Sweet caramel malt nose, tea, and slight oxidation. Not too bad though. Flavor is pretty much caramel and some very slight citrus, with some remnants of hops. Soft body, medium sized. Sticks to mouth, and has a slightly bitter finish. Obviously would’ve been better fresh.
3.5 On tap at Stone Brewing World Bistro and Gardens. Pours cloudy amber orange with no real head. Sweet aroma of hops and citrus. Flavor is spicy and citrusy with a nice under-layer of hops and alcohol. A good beer, but nothing that memorable.
3.8 RBSG on tap. Light amber color with not a lot of aroma. Has a lively, fun flavor; fruity and crisp.
3.4 I figured this beer would be dead, luckily I was wrong. Orange pour with a small head. Ligh hop, caramel, and candied sugar aroma. Flavor was similar with some orange hops and other fruity citrus. Finishes slightly watery with medium carbonation.
4.0 Peach colored with an off-white head, little retention and lacing. Smell is of apricots, peaches, flowers, and biscuits. Taste is of peaches, apricots, tangerine, orange rind, and some sweet malt. Medium carbonation and lighter than medium body. This beer has held up much better than I imagined it would. Would love to try it again.
3.3 22oz bottle shared at DLD 08 by bbb63. thanks mike! pours amber with white head. nose and the flavor is a bit oxidized and the hops have really faded but they are still hanging on and its not bad at all. glad i got to try this.
3.4 Bomber shared with Enzofan. Cloudy golden/orange pour with diminishing off-white head. Big malt aroma, no hop presence. No suprise due to age of beer. Sweet malt flavors. Medium syrupy mouthfeel. This was a good beer, but I’m sure it was fantastic fresh in it’s day. Enjoyable none the less.
3.8 22 oz. bottle via trade with jsquire - Pours a hazy amber color with a 3/4 finger thick off white head. Very light spotty lacing. Aroma is toasted malt and fruity esters. Flavor is a sweet doughy toasted malt and esters. Still has some bitterness and hop flavor. No lingering aftertaste. Medium to full body. A pretty good beer 4 and 1/2 years later. Thanks Jeff.
3.8 On tap at Stone - 2/1/08. Shows signs of nice aging - flavors blend and mellowed in harmony. No real signs of this on its way down. Nice lush mouthfeel...subtle flavors throughout with touch of pine hops and sticky caramel. Leaned toward the sweet side, but very graceful. Reminded me of a dumbed down version of the 05 Double Bastard that night. I liked it.
3.8 On tap at the Stone Winter Storm 2008. Very nice. Flavors were balanced and very easy to drink.
3.7 On tap @ Stone winter Storm 2008. Poured a burnt orange with a wispy off white head. Nose was a good balance between both malt and hops. Finish was pretty sweet with some hop presence in the backdrop.
3.5 On tap at W.S. at the Brewery. Thin whitish head on amber yellow colors. Not a unique aroma.Malty and semi sweet with alcohol on the finish. Fairly thin and not very complex. Would not search this one out. Pretty average for sure.
3.6 On tap at the 2008 Stone Winter Storm. Amber-yellow color with some light carbonation and barely any head formation. One of the more average Anniversary IPA’s in my book. Sweet hops aroma that is more difficult to pick up. Crisp and lively flavor of floral hops and well-balanced use of malts. Bitterness is quite subdued, and it finishes with a dry malt undertone. Nothing too special going on here, but enjoyable nevertheless.
3.8 On tap at Stone’s 2008 Winter Storm. Dark amber color. Medium carbonation. Light bitterness. Malty. Hint of oxidation. Nice.
4.0 Cloudy golden brown with no head. Grainy cereal and citrus aroma. Good tangy citrus taste with an alcoholic warmth to the finish.
