Stone Americano Stout

Stone Americano Stout

The coffee notes in Stone Americano Stout are bold, rich and full of American swagger. For each 120-barrel batch, we incorporated over 250 lbs. of artisanal espresso-roast beans into the mash and added in Columbus, Chinook, Amarillo and Cascade hops to invigorate the coffee taste with a slight citrus and resin hop presence. When it came time to selecting our coffee, we chose the same local roasters who contributed to our sought-after 2013 Stone ESPRESSO Imperial Russian Stout. Their fantastic beans helped us achieve this dark, hoppy and wonderfully aromatic espresso stout.

4.0 Aroma of berries, at first more fruit than chocolate actually. Later nice chocolate dessert. Clear black color with small sized creamy brown head. Sweet chocolate dessert with forest fruit and berries. But at the same time bitter cocoa chocolate too. Both tastes are not exactly blended together well, it's like drinking two different brews at the same time, but it still function good and tastes great. Medium body, soft carbonation, smooth and creamy. Some lack of body. Pretty tasty overall. //tap at Fakin
3.4 Deep black with a tiny light brown head. Aroma is espresso, dark chocolate, roasted malt and cocao. Taste is espresso coffee, chocolate, malt and some sweet spices.
3.8 On tap at Fakin Zagreb. Almost black coloured, medium sized brownish head, light coffee in the nose. Roasted malt, roasted coffee, light chocolate and mild nutty with touch of dried fruits and noticable alcohol in the finish. Quite smooth.
4.1 On tap at Fakin, Zagreb. Almost fully black body, off white head. Cocoa dominates the aroma, carob, lovely malty profile, sweetish. Lovely smooth sweetish clasically stoutiesh malty taste, creamy coffee all over the place giving out a miiild miiild touch of cinnamon as well. Superbly drinkable for the ABV, helped by the dryish finish. People couldn't believe it was that big! That's what he said. Anyway, I'm so proud I've helped get these to Croatia. :D
3.5 On tap at Fakin Craft Bar, Zagreb. Shared with Peh. Jet black, lasting tan to brown head. Aroma is spicy, roasty, light caramel, light fruity. Roasty flavours, mixed with dried fruit, coffee develops. Mostly sweet. No hops. Very soft texture. Slightly tart finish. Light bitterness. Medium to full body, soft carbonation.
4.1 Bottle, 33cl, bought @ Beershoppen, Kolding. Pours deep black with a large, fine, staying creamy beige head. Aroma has lovely coffee, chocolate, hazelnut, light citrus. Medium carbonation, fine dry and lovely creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has lots of pleasant coffee, chocolate, light roasted. Some hazelnut. Lovely lingering malty bitterness, some viniouness. Very lovely beer.
4.0 Bottle: Aroma is very roasty with intensive cacao and coffee notes. Sweetness, liquorice, dark berries. Black color, low brownish head. Flavor is smooth, roasty, big notes of dark chocolate, coffee, coffee beans, cacao beans, coffee liqueur, cacao powder. Intensive chocolate and coffee stout. 8/4/8/4/16
3.7 Sandy coloured rocky head stayed on a near black still body. Bitter coffee, black coffee, dark chocolate & malt aroma. Medium to full bodied, airy in the mouth with a soft smooth aft. Full on bitter sweet espresso overdose with dark chocolate, malt & a bitter hoppy finish.
3.9 On tap at HaandFest. A black beer with a dark beige head. The aroma has lots of espresso, with dark chocolate, some caramel and a burnt touch, and roasted malts. It's quite dry, with a nice bitterness in the flavor, and lots of espresso coffee. Chocolate, roasted malts and caramel too. It's full bodied and nicely carbonated, quite soft, with a delicious and lasting finish. Sort of one dimensional this one, but in a very nice way. 170526
3.9 Kicsi, nem túl tartós hab, fekete szín. Kávés, csokis, kakaós illat, némi aszalt gyümölccsel. Íze kávés, csokis, kakaóporos, aszalt gyümölcsös aromákkal. Száraz, közepesen testes, enyhén szénsavas, közepesen keserű. Nagyon finom stout.
3.8 Good coffee notes, cocoa and roasted notes, black with a good tan head, medium body, average carbonation, creamy, again strong, balanced and good coffee notes, cocoa, good bitter final...solid coffee imperial stout.
3.8 Pours virtually black from the bottle. Aroma is like most coffee additive stouts—full of coffee although to my nose this smells more like yesterday’s wet coffee grounds than a warm cup of the real stuff. Underneath is a rich note of chocolate and hints of roasted grains. The taste has a rich, smooth bitterness full of coffee and chocolate and light smoked notes. Body is medium, carbonation is mild. Overall pretty good.
3.8 Whoa...tons of coffee. Dense and ultra robust, heavy roasted notes, rich and oily mouthfeel. Dry and almost burnt aftertaste, rich oily french press notes, light herbal and grassy hop note is ultra subtle behind the monstrous roasted coffee and roasted malts. Light molasses presence but it still finishes dry
3.5 On tap at Cafe Sara, december 22nd 2016. Black body with a small tanned head. Aroma of espresso, leather, licorice. Taste is roasty and robust, light chocolate notes. Nicely balanced with a soft coffee-esqe bitterness. I liked it better now then at the last What's Brewing.
4.0 Bottle. Nose is rich coffee, chocolate, filter coffee, ash, tobacco. Taste is coffee, tobacco, dark chocolate, leading to filter coffee, ash, chocolate, roast, fudge, hint of vanilla, hint of resin in the finish which lifts it. slightly sticky mouthfeel. Really nice.
3.8 Copenhagen 26/1 2018. 35,5 cl bottle from Meny. Print directly on brown bottle with Stone’s beer drinking devil. Pours opaque dar brown with small beige head. A lot of yeasty flotsam and jetsam floating around. Settles as flimsy, thin layer of patchy foam. Moderate Lacing. Aroma is strong, dark and roasted. Chocolate, caramel, fairly strong roastiness and bitter coffee. Medium carbonation and thick, creamy palate. Flavor is medium sweet followed by quite strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter chocolate. Lingering. Pleasurable imperial stout with good bitternes and nice roasted malts.
4.1 Large beige h4ead black pour strong carbonation aromas roast coffee cocoa rich hops the flavours espresso coffee crisp hop note citrus stone fruit some resin roasted flavour good on the palate smooth going down hops good accompaniment mild bitter note of fudge at the finish such a good Imperial Stout
4.0 Many thanks to Erzengel for sharing! A dark brown beer with a mid-sized good lasting tan head. Aroma of intense roasty malt, coffee, bitter hops. Taste of sweet chocolate, roasted coffee beans, dark malt, vanilla, bitter hops. Quite nice!
3.9 12fl.oz. bottle. Dense and deep beginning. Lots of roast and coffee, thick and rich, heavy and dense. Deep roasted burned coffee and grain. Very dry with milk-coffee hints, lots of roasted burned bitterness. Intense deep, powerful in aroma, long deep bitter roasted espresso aftertaste. Fascinating!
3.9 Balck with off white head - Good aroma that has dark malts and coffee - Good dark malt flavour with coffee and some hops to balance with bitterness - The dark malt goes into the finish with some coffee and chocolate notes with fruity bitterness - This was good
4.1 pours unclear dark brown with a small light beige cap with a small beige cap offering some retention and lacing. very fresh coffee roastiness, dense charred caramel, light woodsy bourbony notes, potent C's, creamy coconut, never husky, softly bittering. moderate carbonation, medium body - oily; warming spicy finish. stunning mouthfeel - solid creamy coffee stout.
4.6 Aromat: pumpernikiel, kawa, czekolada gorzka. Wyglad: czarne , bezowa piana. Smak: gorzka czekolada, lekka slodycz. Odczucie w ustach: pelne, wysycenie niskie. Ogolnie: przyjemny imperial stout, gorzka czekolada mega.
3.9 Aroma of coffee, taste is on point with the espresso, boozy finish, worth trying again.
4.1 Bottle: Poured a deep black color stout with a large brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of floral coffee notes with light roasted malt and black chocolate notes is quite sublime. Taste is a nice mix of floral coffee notes with light residual sugar notes, roasted malt with some black chocolate notes. Body is full with nice creamy texture and good carbonation with no apparent alcohol notes. Another solid stout for this fine brewery with great coffee notes.
3.9 Pitch black colour, cream head. Aroma of coffee, lots of coffee. Roasted malts, hops. Bitter flavour, bitter coffee, sweet caramel note. Finish sweet caramel and loads of coffee. Lingering hoppy note. Nice! (from 33.5cL bottle @ home)
3.5 Sampled from a bottle, poured into a glass, this beer poured a dark brown – black into the tulip glass and gave about one finger of tan colored bubbles, it left nice spots and small fingers of lacing, upon pouring, the nose had bright roasted malt with coffee and a little dry dark chocolate, a little molasses and brown sugar, as the beer warmed up, some roasted coffee appeared, and the coffee became stronger and unfortunately was above everything else, the coffee had the green coffee note that grew, the flavors were pretty much all coffee with some roasted malt, caramel, faint chocolate, malt and burnt sugar sweetness, the finish had a strong coffee bitterness and roasted malt bitterness that cut through any sweetness, the bitterness lingered on the tongue, the mouth feel was medium full, it was creamy and had average carbonation, a very coffee based drink, big coffee all the way, it had green coffee on the nose but I did not taste any green coffee, ok drink.
3.3 Bottle. Pretty good but not really deep or complex enough for the style. Coffee, chocolate, raisins etc. Bottle about 10 months old so may have lost something. Good but I want more.
