Stone & Wood Pacific Ale

Stone & Wood Pacific Ale

We were inspired to brew this style of beer by the European village breweries whose ales were brewed and delivered fresh to be enjoyed in the pubs of the surrounding local area.

Draught Ale is brewed to be served fresh in the many great watering holes just down the road; therefore we don’t need to filter or pastuerise it. We want it to be served over the bar just like it is in our storage tank at the brewery.

Brewed with local water from the Byron Bay hinterland, Australian grown barley, wheat, and hops, and carefully selected ale yeast we have crafted a beer with complex flavours and a clean bitter finish.

Formerly known as Draught Ale.

2.5 From Beer52 had at home in May 2020 330ml bottle and average ale.
2.3 Thin white head on a very pale still body. No aroma. Medium to thin bodied, minimal carbonation & limp on the back. Bitter citrus, chalk & pepper tastes.
2.8 Clear watery straw appearance. Not much aroma. Flavour is grassy, malt and dry.
4.1 I love this beer and could drink it all day, every day! Just wish it was a bit cheaper hehe.
3.4 I don’t mind an appointment unfiltered beer, but this one feels a bit fake. Where Coopers Pale Ale is a fisherman’s beard, this feels like designer stubble
5.0 Had it on tap. Recommended from friend who told me they were regarded as a top beer in Australia. Nice colour in the glass during a warm summers day. Pretty cloudy and hazy with lots of fruit on the nose. Pineapple, passionfruit and fruit salad. Good carbonation and head retention in a clean glass. The flavours were fantastic, matching the aromas with lovely mouth feel. Enjoyed the light nature of this beer as we'd been drinking lots of over hopped beers during my stay. Very refreshing and I can see why this beer would be popular here. I enjoyed the story about of the brewery and hope to visit next time I'm in town. Well done to the brewery as this is my new favourite beer.
2.8 On tap at The World Is Flat, Singapore Changi Airport. Hazy light yellow with a small with head. On the light side with citrus, something that reminded of lemon grass and hints of soap. Drinkable but nothing special.
3.4 Pint draft at Malt Craft Beer Bar in Singapore. Appearance is a hazy straw gold, topped with a finger of white froth. Aromas are citrusy to start, then more bready and biscuity malts. Taste is sweetish malt, biscuits, crackers and bread and some earthy yeast notes. Light to medium bodied, average carbontion.
3.4 Pint at Temple Cellars, pours a hazy yellow with white head.  Nose has jade, flowers, some green melon, lollipop.  Flavors has the jade, flowers, candy, rice too.  Crisp, juicy finish.  8 3 7 3 13
3.4 과일 맛이 강하지만 맛있게 진하다
5.0 Draft in Hackney. Tasty and refreshing, with soft citrus and balanced bitters. Lovely in the summer and winter
3.6 Schooner at 100 acre bar in Brisbane. Hazy pale yellow with thin head. Nice malt balance. Some pineapple notes. Low bitterness.
3.2 Hazy straw colour with little in the way of head. Aroma of peach, apricot and soft fruit. Taste is a little bit thin but with some nice fruit. OK.
3.4 Bu le 10/10/2019 From a can.
0.8 Sour horrible.
2.9 Standard longneck, though embossed. Misty witty pour. Tart, slightly biotic aroma. A little bland perhaps. Starchy light body, not bad. Consumed at the Heineken bar in the Sydney airport.
3.0 Nice hazy, straw coloured ale. Good carbonation. Well balanced and refreshing, but a tad light on flavour and body. Citrusy taste, but not too bitter. Very drinkable, but not as good in the bottle as the draught I had in Newcastle. Decent session beer.
2.9 Pours a hazy pale straw colour with minimal head. The aroma is grassy and slightly of lemon. The flavour is slightly bitter which is moderately lasting on the palate. Overall a reasonable session beer.
4.4 light, fruity and a tiny bit hoppy. the sort of beer you can drink all day when it’s hot
3.4 On keg, murky amber with a thin head, hazy and lightly fruity nose, a bit thin bodied, dry and slightly milky, touches of fruit salad and leafy hops. Re-rate in bottle, pale gold and crisp, with aromatic grape and fruit notes. Very nice. Re-rate on keg, crisp and drying, Pacific hoppy fruit notes, a very very slight tartness at first, nice and easy drinking.
4.6 Fruity, soft and tasty... a perfect regular tipple. It’s a shame that this is not available on draft. One day hopefully!
4.5 From many cases of bottles... I have searched high and low for a 'go to' thirst quenching session pale ale is this in my opinion is the best out there. Subtle tropical fruit nose. Perfectly balanced palate with passionfruit and some citrus. Just enough malt and underlying yeast, but not too much for perfect balance. Not too sweet, just an all round ripper for the Australian coastal climate. Far too expensive but hell at least they're local... This is not a hipster fanboy review. I brew IPA's and and others but the heavy IPA (Ballast Point Sculpin etc) style has worn thin on me and this is now my favourite beer for the past year or so. There are some reviews giving this very low scores, calling people who like this beer "non beer geeks"...sheesh total craft beer snobbery IMO. This is not an IPA, and is not designed to blow your socks of with hops...
4.5 Fruity notes, refreshing for a Summer’s drink - clean after notes that hit the middle of the tongue.
3.2 Cloudy, yellow, fruity aromatics and low bitterness. A staple introductory beer to Australia's craft beer scene. Earlier Rating: 5/4/2019 Total Score: 3.2 Cloudy, yellow, fruity aromatics and low bitterness. A staple introductory beer to Australia's craft beer scene.
3.2 Keg @ Windsor Castle, Notting Hill Gate. Hazy yellow-straw with a thin head. Citrus-hoppy with a low carbonation and is very easy-drinking.
4.3 Cloudy pale in the glass, highly refreshing citrus flavour which explodes on the palate. Delightful summer drinking
4.0 Would appear I stumbled on a very fresh keg of S&W PAC Ale... how can I tell?... we’ll it’s either a seriously fresh keg, or they’ve changed the recipe, or the latest harvest of galaxy has zero passion fruit... Because this is citrus for days.... lime, lemon, grapefruit... so much grapefruit... gunna smash a bit of this tonight!... For the detractors, if you’ve never had a fresh keg on tap, then you probably never will... more for me. For those a little more open minded, then revisit quickly and let us know what you think... This is why it’s been up there for years.
3.3 Bottle. Hazy yellow beer with a small white head. Aroma is fruity with notes of citrus, apricots, sulfury yeast and pineapple. Flavor is fruity with notes of citrus, bread, sulfury yeast, pineapple and some hop bite.
3.7 Easy drinking, Strong aroma of galaxy flowing into flavour with low bitterness
2.7 Lätt disig gul öl med ett kvardröjande vitt skum. Doft och smak av citrus, malt, säd och gräs. Ok men lättglömd.
