Stone Buenaveza Salt & Lime Lager

Stone Buenaveza Salt & Lime Lager

In 1996, Stone Brewing was founded in San Diego County, just minutes from the border. Since then, influence from our southern neighbors has enriched and inspired us on our undying mission to brew bold, flavorful beers. One such inspiration is Stone Xocoveza, our imperial stout originally released in 2014 to bring the rich, complex flavors of Mexican hot chocolate to beer. It’s with mucho gusto that we now follow with our take on a classic lager that is similarly inspired (and tasty) - Stone Buenaveza Salt & Lime Lager.

3.4 Do not really understand the obsession with making beers like this. They are just not right. Lime and salt are for lame beers not the other way around.
2.5 Things got a bit shook up when I tipped my Beer52 calendar over to try to ease cans out of too-small holes, so while I found this one today behind #13, it was meant to be #11... This is intriguing, the aroma's rather nice, somewhere between a Margarita and a lager. On the palate it's beery, yes, and there's lime and a hint of salt, but it's a bit thin and there's an acrid bitter edge to it.
2.4 Draught @ Yardbird, Las Vegas. Light bodied and watery with hints of saltiness and lime.
3.0 Spotty beige head on clear pale golden coloured body. Spiced, lime & malt aroma. Medium bodied, dull on the tongue with a lively cloying back. Malt, wet cardboard, lime & saline tastes with a spicy finish. Decent Lager.
3.2 Canned, 355ml from Beer52, Edinburgh. Hazed pale gold with white head. This proved to be quite a thin beer from the off, thin malts, some crispness. Not much of either the sale or the lime in mine, it's quite vague on the flavour front. A touch dull but okay.
2.3 Can. Light gold pour, some bubs on top. Light, watery. The salty bit is odd, but also kinda interesting. Mild citrus (lime) in the finish. It's like a good example of a watery lager, which is good, but also still pretty mediocre?
3.1 Pours a golden colour you can really smell the salt and lime a nice weird taste to it lime followed by a after kick of salt flavour nice
3.4 Expected to be disappointed, wasn’t. Clear, golden lager, thin head. Lime aromas and a refreshing corn flavour with a nice hit of lime to finish. It’s nice beer!
3.3 Can from Beer52. Mostly clear light gold, thin white head but lasts well. Clean malts, lime and spice aroma. Taste has a nice cleanness to it, none of this corn syrup, lime and drying saltiness works well, some grassed/spiced hop, crisp in finish aided by sharp fine carbonation. Good for the style.
Molto buona. c. Famila Superstore Varese 09.10.22
3.4 Pours golden straw. Clear with a small white head. Aroma is corn, light cereal, salty, lime wedge and a touch of spice. Light slick oily mouthfeel. Taste is pretty much like Corona and lime but with a mouth drying salty aftertaste. Light malts and perhaps some spicy Saaz hop. It’s nothing special, but I actually rather like it. Very easy to drink.
3.7 I have found this beer, at Amstein, St-Légier. Opening this can two days ago, at home, Epalinges. The body is yellow, clear carbonated, white foam. This beverage is really refreshing, perfect at night. The taste is malty, dry, mineral, a bit salty, nice touch of lime, dry hop for lager, a pity thay they have sold this brewery.
2.7 Poured from the tap. Clear blonde with white head. Watery grain with feint lime and salt. Nothing interesting.
3.4 Tap at punch bowl social. Very clear dark gold. Light ring of head. Grainy aroma, lime and salt. Flavor is grains, light lime with a moderate bitterness.
2.7 12 oz bottle shared at M, thanks! Golden with white head. Salt forward with limey notes that gives me chemical associations. The base beer kind of dissappears behind the flavorings
1.4 A salt and lime lager from the well-known Californian Stone Brewing piqued my curiosity when I found it at Systembolaget in Sweden during my recent vacation. The disappointment is not great, but still present, because there is not much character about this lager. It looks, smells and tastes at first impression like an ordinary lager, and probably also a little like an industrial lager, i.e. without exciting impressions on either the malt or hop side. Towards the end, it has a slight taste of lime, but unfortunately in a somewhat synthetic way, reminiscent of some added essence. The salt is completely absent, however, it has a dry aftertaste which, with a little imagination, can possibly produce a little sensation in the direction of salt. It's not bad at all, but it's certainly not surprisingly good either. It is a lager that is probably on the lower end of what you can call average, so a drinkable lager that is quickly forgotten.
3.3 Can. Poured clear golden color with an average frothy white head that lasted with very good lacing. Moderate lime balanced aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Moderate lime and salt flavor with a moderate citrus sweet finish of medium duration. This soft beer met my expectations.
1.7 Bottle from Systembolaget. Aroma is blend of synthetic lime and intensely macro lager. The taste is simlar. What seems to be happening here is the addition of lime doesn't really give you a lager and lime taste (like corona and lime), but the lime rather turns the taste of the lager into the most extreme macro / metallic tasting lager, with every so often a genuine aftertaste of squeezed lime. Not good.
4.1 Good hot weather beer
3.1 Can 0,335L. Clear golden color with thin white head. Aroma of malt, corn and light note of lime. Taste is light bitter with notes lime and light hint of salt. Light to medium body, lively carbonation, dry texture. Light and refreshing summer beer.
3.5 Slight flavor of lime, salt and corn. Hint of rye cracker. Not that interesting, but a very drinkable and summer-friendly beer.
3.3 Gold pour, thin white head. Nose is lime and malt. Middle is lime, light salt, clean malt, light herbal bitterness. Finish is lightly bitter.
3.1 Draft @ Ale House, Denver. Pours a slightly hazy yellow color with a white head. Has a fruity malty grainy lime aroma. Fruity malty grainy lime salty flavor. Has a fruity malty grainy salty lime finish.
3.5 Pours a mostly clear medium yellow with a white head that leaves a thin ring. Nose is light lime and grain. Taste is grain, slight lime and salt. Body is medium light. Bitterness is very slight in the aftertaste. 12 oz can BBY 3/29/23
4.1 Hint of lime and salt great with a meal or stand alone
2.5 355ml can from We Brought Beer, Tooting. Mostly clear deep golden. Aroma of corn, lime and bread. Clean body. Not much lime and no real salt. Otherwise a perfectly drinkable lager.
2.9 Can from Kenny Rd Market: murky good pour. aroma of malts, light spice. tastes are easy lager - grain, corn, little citrus, salt. ok.
3.1 Can. Golden with a white head. Sweet lime aroma. Really sweet. Lime flavour with some sweetness, a mild bitterness and some saltiness.
