Stone Citrusy Wit

Stone Citrusy Wit

When it comes to our beers and the ingredients we use, we give a wit. So rather than spinning just the same fruit wheel of the classic orange peel, we punched up our wit with the dynamic duo of tangerine and kaffir lime leaf. The fruit-forward aromatics and flavors are perfectly balanced, so you don’t have to bother adding a slice (or leaf) to the rim of your glass. Even with this lack of unnecessary garnish, you won’t find an absence of intense fruit. In fact, each dryly refreshing, citrusy sip of this coriander-spiced, tangerine-infused, Mandarina Bavaria-hopped creation will satisfy even the most hardcore fan.

3.3 Tap @In de Wildeman, poured into a shaker. Hazy yellowish golden, small frothy white head, fairly lasting, good lacing; aroma wheat, lemon, bitter orange, lemon grass, coriander; taste medium sweet, light bitter and a sourish undertone, citrusy, wheat, herbal and mineral notes; dry sweetbitter aftertaste, citrusy, green tea, herbal/spicy notes; medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation; decent wheat.
3.2 Hazy golden with a white head - Wheat, citrus and some spicy hints in the aroma - Wheat flavour with some citrus and spicy flavours - The wheat, citrus and spicy notes goes into the finish - This was nice and refreshing
3.5 0.33l bottle. Hazy yellowis color with medium white head. Aroma: tangerine, kaffir lime, yeast, citrus. Taste: kaffir lime, yeast, citrus, dry bitterness. Light body, moderate carbonation. Good one.
3.3 Tap at Naiv, Frankfurt. Pours slightly hazy golden with a long lasting bubbly white head. Aroma of hop, tropical and citrus fruits: lemon, grapefruit, banana, orange and lime. Moderate sweetness and bitterness. Light body, slight oily texture, average to soft carbonation.
3.4 Hazy amber with a lacing white head. Citrusy, grassy aroma. Wheaty taste with an acidic, citrusy bite. Pretty nice.
4.1 Bottle from Pivny raj, Bratislava. Orange golden color with medium white head. Nice aroma of tangerines, coriander, lime. Taste, tangerines, kaffir leave, coriander, other spices, zest. Long, fruity, hoppy bitter finish. Tasty.
3.7 355 ml. bottle. 2016 Release. BBF 19/02 (smudged date - let us hope not 2017). Paired with a Fusilli with basic wilted spinach, baby paprika etc. sauce. I know nothing about beer & food pairing. Lightly hazy bright golden beer, fluffy white head. Nose is citrus indeed, tangerine I suppose, I cough have stated mandrine just as easily with some BE esters, mineral water wheat underneath, not sure if I get kaffir lime. Sparkling body with some dry powdery soap finish. Basic sparkling bit empty mellow sweet mineral wheat with some presumably kafir lime, more soapy, mineral, sparkling, citrus is soapy & BE esters, basic candy. Easy sparkling wheat with some soapy extra’s. Simple bit too sparkling, mineral, touch soapy. Expected more pop from the additions, maybe they faded with time? This doesn’t taste old. Overal it is pretty okay, very non-exciting but the style in general does little for me, I only got this one because it is a Stone beer. I still think that the style reacted perfection with St. Bernardus Witbier. The rest feels unnecessary even wacky ingredients usually don’t lead to too much fun. This is far above average for the style.
2.1 Hazy golden and peach coloured body with a thinnish, off-white head. Aroma of pure canned corn, a bit of hay, lemongrass and pure ginger - odd smelling, but halfway decent. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong grassy and ginger flavour with a little dose of wheat and coriander seed freshness, but a funky cardboardie flavour tucked along with a lemongrass dominate flavour along with a touch of sugars near the end. Aftertaste is mostly the ginger, lemongrass and a touch of lime citrus and acid with the mellow wheat and hints of grass. Overall, a decent beer at best - this is way too funky and off-flavoured than the name implied - the ginger and funky notes overpower and there isnt enough true wheat or citrus flavours to do much of anything. Definitely not recommended and not worth spending much money on at all! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from New Beer Distributors in New York, New York on 03-December-2016 for US$2,50 sampled at home in Washington on 01-June-2017.
3.5 35.5cl fles. Vlokkig tweeschijn oranje kleur, fijne romige witte schuimkraag. De geur van citrus en koriander. Smaak is zoet, citrus, tarwe en curaçaoschil. Medium Lichaam, Veel koolzuur.
3.5 Hazy yellow color with off-white head. Aroma has really nice lemon and coriander. It’s fresh but also spicy. Taste follows with floral yeast notes, coriander and sweet lemon. Finish is also a bit hoppy. Light body, carbonation is quite low for the style. Overall it’s a really nice spicy wit.
2.6 Draaught at Bootleggers Craft Beer Bar. Low fluffy white lasting hea. Hazy dark yellow body. Mild soapy fruity dry flavor wtih a low carbonation and a short finish.
3.2 Bottle, Geers. It pours hazy yellow, with a fast fading white head. No retention. Some chunky sediment on the bottom. Nose is wheat malt, tangerine, lime & coriander. I like the wheat character dominating the spices in the nose. When drinking the kafir and lime aroma’s dominate more and it gets a bit artificial for me. Palate is soft carbonated. Very interesting but a bit too overspiced for me.
3.8 Pours orange from the bottle with a thick, frothy head. Visible floaters. Aroma is dried green tea grounds, yeasty, spicy, and with a lemon twist. Taste is lightly bitter with notes of citrus, tea, coriander, and a light caramel sweet undertone. Nicely balanced. Stays dry throughout and finishes with an uptick in the bitterness. Body stays fairly light, and the brew has a nice refreshing feel to it. Very nice, even though my bottle was slightly passed the expiration date.
3.7 Draught & Fox & Hounds, Sønderborg. Pours slightly hazy straw with airy white head. Clear aroma of hops and citrus, with notes og yeast and malt. Bitter, hoppy flavour eith notes of citrus and coriander and touches of malt and yeast. Estery finish with bitter and peppery notes. High carbonation. Decent.
3.3 Draught@ Sori Taproom. Poured golden color with a thin white head. Fruity citrusy aroma, some mild spices. Flavor has citrus, spices, wheat notes, hops. Balanced, quite refreshing. Some minerally notes in finish.
3.4 Tap at brewery. A bit of a sourness on the nose blended with some floral. Earth came out in the flavor amongst the usual flavors.
3.3 Draft 0.15l at Craft & Draft Amsterdam, The Netherlands. 04.04.2017. Taste with kermis. Pour it hazy golden color with big white head. Aroma sourish, citrusy, soapy lemon. Taste smooth lemony, soapy again, wheat, yeasty texture, cereal, grass, nothing to blow your mind, but decent, light sweetness, light to medium body, creamy, lively.
3.9 Pours a straw color. Has some fine particulates. About three fingers white head. Good retention, great lacing. Aroma is yeast, wheat. Some banana, pretty heavy orange (tangerine) and perhaps some floral hops. Smells good. Taste is an odd flavor really. Hoppy, bitter. Some orange and citrus. I think I can taste a little sage. A little coriander. Mouthfeel is medium bodied. Leaning bitter, but balanced overall. Easy to drink. Overall, it’s real good. I don’t have much more to say about it. Yes, In would buy it again, and yes, In would recommend it.
3.3 17/IV/17 - 12Fl. Oz. bottle from Geers (Oostakker), shared with Akke @ home - BB: n/a, bottled: CA(lifornia) VII/27/16 (2017-452) Clear blond to orange beer, creamy irregular yellowish head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: spicy, coriander, some tangerine, grains. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: bit fruity, orange peel, soft bitterness, sweet touch, bit spicy, coriander notes. Aftertaste: some caramel, sweet touch, malty, spicy, little bitter, some curry notes. Decent enough. Probably way better when fresh.
3.6 12fl oz bottle at home from De Caigny, Belgium. Nose is lemonade. Body is hazy orange full with medium sized particles, head is small, white, frothy, mostly diminishing, good lacing. Aroma is citrus, wheat, tangerine, grapefruit. Medium sweet, medium bitter, medium citric sour. Finish is long lasting hoppy medium to heavy bitter. Light to medium body, slick texture, lively carbonation. Easy, refreshing summer beer, radlerish, interesting, nice one.
3.7 Tap at skuli, reykjavik. Hazy light golden color, white head. Aroma has wheat, hops, ginger notes. Nice wheaty taste, some ginger notes, fruity notes.
3.7 Draft at Craft & Draft. Near clear golden with a white head. Aroma of green leaves, must be the kafir lime showing up, orange, citrus, coriander and wheat. Flavour is light moderate sweet and bitter. Light medium bodied with soft carbonation.
3.8 Sampled @ CRAFT Frankfurt 2017.
3.3 A mixed bag in this, the aroma isn’t strong, the initial burst of taste is, but it’s all up front with a weak and missing muddle with an oddly musty finish.
3.5 33cl bottle courtesy of and shared with the owners of Craffity. Thin white head. Citrusy aroma. Hazy golden pour. Nice bitterness. Very good wit beer.
2.8 On tap. Less intense, and satisfying, than other wits I’ve tried. Something is missing, though I can’t put my finger on it. Just pleasant, thus missing my personal target. No risk, no reward. This time....no reward. Your mileage may vary...
