Stone / Dogfish Head / Victory Saison du BUFF

Stone / Dogfish Head / Victory Saison du BUFF

It’s a saison of sorts; hellaciously herbaceous and hopefully contagious. This was not a ready made ale. But it is a ready made collaboration. Meaning Stone and Victory are 2 breweries that are exactly like Dogfish in that they do/brew exactly what they love and they do/brew it exactly like no other brewery out there. (Love - lots of it in this bottle)

-Samuel A Calagione

Ale brewed with parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme.

3.9 Not sure there is much difference between this and the dogfish head listing. Light airy and heebal, it’s quite delicious.

3.7 Really nice, fresh and crisp. Dry finish. Citrus and floral. Some bitterness from well-placed hops. Light golden color.
3.7 Tap at Stone Berlin. Pours slightly hazy golden with white head. Grassy and herbal aroma and taste with quite a bit of hops to it. Some pepper, cloves, and lemon present too. Nicely balanced hops. Perfect with the caesar salad.
4.1 355ml bottle. Pours a hazy medium gold, with a moderate white head, which lasts well and leaves good lacing. Strong herbal aromas dominate, with parsley and thyme particularly noticeable, and light citrus notes in the background. Mild citrus hops and strong herbal bitterness up front bring in the parsley, with savoury sage and rosemary coming in to the mid-palate. A refreshing finish leaves a lingering sage aftertaste. An interesting, complex herbal flavoured beer, very refreshing on a hot afternoon.
2.9 12 ozBottle.. Split with PAt. Pours golden brown with 2 finger white head. Smell and taste of Rosemary, Belgian spice, heavy clove, white pepper, malt, and sage. There is just way too much stuff thrown into this beer to drink in high volume but its still interesting. These guys need to make a hyped IPA, I could never order this kind of beer in 2017.
3.4 Pours amber with a large head. Nose shows strong herbal notes, very basil- and sage-like. Some soft saison notes underneath. Flavours include more aggressive herbal notes along with farmhouse and bready notes. Finishes very dry. Crazy high carbonation.
4.4 Orange gelb schaum ok, Geruch toll nach frischem Basilikum hopfig kräuterig blumig, im Geschmack auch viel Basilikum hopfen leichte Gummibärchen Note, mir gefällt dieses bier außerordentlich gut, etwas besonderes!
2.9 Vom Fass. Orange-gelbes Bier, wenig Schaum. Citrusduft. Blumiger Antrunk. Dann herbe Kräuter und Getreide. Recht schlicht.
3.5 Tap@Taphouse, Copenhagen (Stone TTO 27/11/2016) - gold yellow coloured pour with a white head. Aroma and taste is yeasty and fruity and floral grassy hoppy, some hay and straw, subtle citric spice bite, light herbal notes coming into the close.
3.6 Draft. A golden beer with a yellowish head. The aroma has notes of spices, yeast, straw, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, spices, yeast, straw, and hops, leading to a bitter finish.
3.6 From tap at Taphouse. Hazy golden colour with a white head. Aroma and flavour of yeats, spice, fruit, hops and a mild tartness.
3.9 Bottle - pours pale gold with a small white head. Aroma is full of spice, pepper, clove, although not listed there is a fresh basil hint. Taste is cirtus , herbs and spice. Finish is citrus and lingering.
4.2 Bottle from Beer Cartel 070916. This is a Saison with a bite to it and I would expect nothing less given the 3 breweries that collaborated on this beer. Tidy even white head that sits nicely above a light apricot skinned coloured beer. Full in the mouth with fresh tropical fruit flavours.
3.7 2016 bottling. Pours hazy straw-gold with a tight, 1-finger white head. Herbal aroma, mostly the sage, mixed with a lemon note from the thyme. Medium body with a light oily feel to it. Dry finish with a mild astringency. Lemon flavor up front, giving way to herbal and earthy notes that linger at the back. The sage becomes more prominent as it warms.
3.3 Rating #1899. $2.40 bottle from Wine Warehouse. I’ve rated the Dogfish Head version, which got a 2.9 from me overall - let’s see how this does. Pours slightly hazy golden with a small white head.Aroma of lemon, orange, heavy rosemary. Tasty slightly sweet lemongrass, rosemary, pepper. Fishes bitter. Looks like this one is slightly better than the Dogfish head version, at least according to my rating. Would have liked to sample these at the same time to truly compare.
4.4 A fluffy white head with persistent lacing over a straw coloured body. A rich nose features spices, saison yeast, lemon and malt. This is a hybrid that works! Eucalyptus, nutmeg, cloves, lemon, pepper and orange rind hops come at you from all directions. Some sweet malt and saison yeast work with significant effervescence and a rich smooth body to add to the taste experience. A work of art.
3.6 Really good beer. Keeps the best parts of a saison and a hoppy beer and mixes them perfectly.
3.4 2016/07/02 - Pours a hazy deep gold colour with a thick, foamy white head that slowly reduces and leaves moderate lace. Aroma is citrus (orange and lemon), hay, spices (sage, rosemary, clove) spicy/herbal hops and doughy yeast. Taste is lightly tart lemon/orange citrus, spices (sage, clove), dough, hay, herbal/mildly spicy hops and light caramel. Mouthfeel is medium and silky with lightly biting carbonation and a drying, mildly medical finish. Ok. Nothing exceptional.
4.2 3 of the great breweries in america get together to offer this diamond Clear golden with a fluffy white head. An amazing aroma of sage and oddly eucalyptus and sweet malt. Good creamy palate. Tastes of sage, thyme, and rosemary with a good caramel back bone. Delicious and outstanding
