Stone Farking Wheaton w00tstout 3.0

This righteously flavorful imperial stout has been a favorite among our fans—and us—since its inception in 2013. In celebration of its third brewing, we’ve upped the barrel-aging quotient for 2015, adding to the mix a version of last year’s vintage that we aged in bourbon barrels for a year. This whopping, complex stout will cellar beautifully—if you can wait that long.

3.8 Draft. Dark brown with a tan head that leave a nice lace pattern. It has notes of cocoa nibs and light coffee. The taste has a light sweetness as well. Very warming.
2.8 Super dark brown coloured body, almost completely opaque black body with a faster dying still deep brown head, about two centimetres tall at first that fades down to just about nothing. Aroma of ridiculously strong licorice and anise with a large alcohol presence, some meat and mushrooms, a good deal of roasted malt and a strong molasses and light honey scent as well - very strong in the nose for sure. Medium to Full-bodied; Deep ridiculously strong anise and pungent licorice flavour with a lot of roasty malts along with a caramel and toffee note, but more molasses and honey than anything else, aside from the astringent alcohol and pungent grain notes towards the end. Aftertaste shows a lot of alcohol, tons of licorice and anise notes with a lot of molasses and sweet flavours as well, but all on top of meat and mushrooms throughout with quite a bit of pungency. Overall, a quite pungent beer, even after almost three years of proper aging that must have been nasty and astringent when drunk fresh (like most people did), but even now, still way too strong and obtuse with only mushrooms, malt and alcohol notes that are up front and some molasses, deep grain, caramel and toffee flavours as well, but this one is still really strong at 2,5 years aged! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Merchant's in Dearborn, Michigan on 24-July-2015 for US$10,99 sampled at home in Washington nearly three years later on 17-April-2018. Bottled: 07-July-2015 // Purchased: 24-July-2015 // Sampled: 17-April-2018
3.1 2015 keg to crowler shared at Lucky Bamboo share. Thanks Mike! Pours a motor oil black with almost no head. Dark roasted malt and coffee aromas. On the palate, lowish carbonation with lots of roasted malt, some dark fruit notes and espresso. Maybe a bit oxidized, probably due to the crowler.
4.6 Pecan pie, vanilla, faint liquorice, some honey, coconut and a wonderful palate. I had a wine 1st and thought I don’t really feel like drinking anything, but after a few mouthfuls of this I couldn’t get enough! Tasty and beautiful
3.9 Dark brown/black color; Medium to heavy creamy body; Aroma of toasted sweet malt, vanilla, anise/licorice, & dark fruit; Flavor of roasted sweet malt, caramel/molasses, dark fruit (notably prunes & dates), dark chocolate, and licorice; Warm finish; Nicely balanced; Good - but a tad too sweet.
3.7 From bottle at home. Black color with beige head. Malty aroma, roasted, soy sauce, dark dried fruits, caramel, dark chocolate, cocoa, bourbon, wood. Moderate to heavy sweet and moderate to heavy bitter taste like aroma. Medium to full silky oily body with soft carbonation.
3.9 24-12-17 // bottle from Getränke Stumpf. 2015 VintageDeep black beer with a creamy beige head. Aroma of bourbon with roasted malts. Dark roasted malts, chocolate, bitter chocolate, sweet malty, bourbon barrel, mild maple and vanilla. Mild boozy. Great.
3.9 Opened at a bottle share last week. 2015 vintage. Pours a fully opaque jet black, light tan head. The nose is bourbon barrel with light vanilla, roasted espresso beans. Intense and robust beer overall with heavy oak and bourbon flavour, maple syrup and rich vanilla beans. Very smooth and cohesive with not a hint of alcohol in the profile nor on the aftertaste. So rich and succulent with a heavy, heavy body. This is good beer.
4.1 22oz bottle, vintage 2015, black colour, with a think dark beige head, with a mild boozy chocolatey, faint pecan pie, cocoa nose; with some sweet roasted, chocolate, wheat, toasted malty, semi-sweet chocolate baking bar, faint bourbonish accents, and a subtle fruity molasses, brownies, light vanilla bean, faint fudgey, faint roasted almond dark chocolate bar note in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a warmth fruity chocolatey mild bourbon oak barrel, sweet fruity roasted, toasted, wheat, black malty character, with some vanilla, cocoa, faint buttery caramelized coated pecans, subtle fruity molasses, subtle crème brûlée flavours, leading towards a warming sweet fruity roasted, wheat maltiness, lingering vanilla bourbonish oak barrel, chocolatey, faint caramelized pecans finish.
4.1 Tap at New Bohemia in Golden Valley. Dark dense pour with a quickly dissipating head. Licorice, brownies, bourbon, vanilla. Slick and rich. Very good.
4.3 650ml bottle from Canada Craft Beer Club. Superb aromatic palette. Powerfull nose. This pitch black liquid with a sparkling brown head imperial stout is nothing else than a taste buds pleasure. Vanilla, molasses, Bourbon, barley sugar, wood barrel, prunes, fudge and chocolate fondant, are some of the tastes found in this complex beer. Alcohol at 10% would have emphasised even more the flavors, along with a stronger roast bitterness. Nevertheless a magnificent beer.
3.8 Bottle. Pours pitch black with a small brown head. Aromas of hops, toast, dark fruits, bread, light vanilla. Taste is hoppy, caramel, bready, malty, light vanilla, dark fruits.
4.1 Bottle in Seattle. Dissipating darker tan foam, rich dark black-brown body. Mocha, almond and vanilla extract aroma. As it warms the weight increases but the alcohol never overwhelms. Heavy beer but with a remarkable flavor balance. Amaretto is prominent, as with some cocoa-espresso-lactic notes. Rather strong bitter chocolate flavor. Smooth and big. Pretty delicious and remarkably put together. Ages does this well.
4.0 Sample at alltech. Pour deep black with tan head. Wood, bovril thick mouthfeel.
3.9 Pitch black. Licorice, leather, chocolate, beef, cocoa powder, brownie batter, dark chocolate. Super good
4.6 Pours a thick and viscous liquid. Minimal carbonation. You can certainly pick it includes last years brew which was aged in bourbon barrels for a year. HUGE bourbon hit. Pecans, vanilla, dark rye bread, dark roast malts, almost a Christmas pudding fruit edge of sweetness too. This is one smashing brew, that being a Farker from way back (one of the three collaborators is Drew Curtis, founder of alt-news site fark.com) I simply had to tick off the bucket list. Whoa! If you see it, forget the price tag. Buy it. Cellar for a year or two, then drink.

5.0 I had a glass of the 2015 version tonight. It’s a flawless beer with everything going for it.
4.1 This draft brew from a beer bar poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized brown colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque except at the edges black brown colored body and an excellent lacing. The mild aroma was dark chocolate. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and strongly tingly at the finish with a lingering mild roasted malt aftertaste. The yummy flavor contained notes of roasted malt and strong malt. Delicious and one I would certainly like to have again.
