Stone Go To IPA

It’s no secret we helped create and popularize West Coast style IPAs (since 1997), Double IPAs (since 2000) & Triple IPAs (since 2006). In fact, IPAs of every ilk imaginable are our bread and (hop) butter at Stone Brewing Co., but we’ll be the first to admit that a night of subsisting solely on big IPAs can be a short one. Enter Stone Go To IPA, our session IPA, boasting all the gloriously bitter, citrusy, piney flavor of our bigger / industrial-strength IPAs, but with a significantly lower alcohol-by-volume (4.5%) allowing IPA fans like us to enjoy more of this amazingly, hoppy beer over a longer session, without giving up any of that gloriously crave-able botanically-driven dankness. Well, OK, when you compare to our bigger IPAs you find that you give up some, as that’s what happens when you dramatically lower the abv. And while we work hard to bend the time/space/abv intensity continuum, we’ve admittedly not yet learned to break it. This comes damn close though.

3.8 4 finger white head, amber body. Nose: Oranges, lychee, resin, passionfruit and malt. Taste: Oranges, spruce, passionfruit, grapefruit, lychee, resin and malt. Semi-long, semi-bitter ending

4.1 0.355l can. Hazy golden body with a white head. Aroma of grass, passion fruit, citruses and blueberries. Taste of grapefruit, grass, blueberries, peach and gooseberry. For a brief period it's sweet, but then hops rule. Very nice IPA.

4.1 0.33 bottle. A doboz nem annyira szép, de a sör jóval szebb. Arany szín, szűretlen, szép fehér habbal, kicsit nyitáskor gejzírt játszott... illata finom, exotikus gyümölcs, mellette pici élesztősség. Elég intenzív. Ízre grapefruitos gyümölcsös komplex. Olyan íze van mint a vérnarancs héjának. :) a 4,7 % ellenére elég testes, elég összetett.. nem egy hétköznapi session IPA. Jöhetne bármikor. Jó keserű :) *** The can is not so nice, but the beer is much nicer. Golden color, unfiltered, with nice white foam, played a bit of geyser when opened ... smells delicious, exotic fruit, with a little yeast next to it. Intense enough. Grapefruit fruity complex on the palate. It tastes like the peel of a blood orange. :) despite being 4.7% full-bodied, quite complex .. not an ordinary session IPA. You could come at any time. Good bitter :)

3.0 Skapligt skum vid upphällningen. Ser citronhazy ut. Knappt någon doft. Mellanfyllig. Smakmässigt sticker inget sticker ut, men tycker mig finna passion, ananas, tall. Liten beska som tar sig bäst på slutet. Smakar bättre än vad prislappen säger.

3.5 Jaune dorée, très légère mousse. Nez bien exotique, résineux avec un coté huile coco et amande amere. Gout fruité exotique avec agrumes citron, note litchi, huile coco et amande. Bonne amertume resineuse herbeuse voir zeste. Vraiment pas mal pour une session ipa

2.8 Õlle on selline jook, et iga uus kord kui klaasi või pudeli suule tõstad, siis leiad midagi uut, sõltuvalt tuhandest-miljonist pisiasjast, mis hetke olukorda mõjutavad. Seega piirdun iga õlle juures selle tekstiga. 4,7% ABV.

4.0 Citrus, humle, behagelig. En virkelig velkomponeret øl/IPA. Sjældent set/smagt, og så med bare 4,7%vol. Well done!

4.1 Ipa superbe, amertume fraîche se s’intensifient en bouche. Note fraise d’agrume en début de bouche puis de sapin en fin de palais. Un très agréable môment

3.9 Liquide doré transparent avec mousse abondante et compacte. Nez légèrement agrumes. En bouche, c'est une attaque très agrumes sur l'orange amère qui débouche sur une énorme amertume résineuse à souhait ! Splendide pour une session et un ABV aussi faible !!!

3.3 Tåkete lys brun farge med hvitt skum. Lukter grapefrukt, malt. Kommer noe sitrus i smak. Mye smak. Medium bitter avslutning

3.8 Elsőre a narancs, ami eszembe jut az illatról, aztán egy kis grapefruit, talán egy kis lime. Nagyon kellemesen gyümölcsös, telt ízvilág. Ízben is trópikus, mediterrán hosszú kesernyés utóízzel. Élvezetes session ipa.

4.3 Good balanced session ipa, not so fruity, little can, but strong and have also good bitterness.

3.9 Llauna cafè beat Lleida. Germana petita de la clàssica Stone IPA. Tall semblant, West Coast resinosa, afruitada i amb bona amargor.

3.3 330ml draft in a bottle, 9 months out of date. Hazy orange-gold, thin head. Floral peach, tangerine, light malts, some citrus, nice bitterness. Good body. It might not be at it's best but it's kept quite well. Decent.

2.2 Fyldig frisk ipa med mye bitter ettersmak

2.5 Unfortunately, session IPAs just don’t work very well for me. Body is just too thin to keep the hops from overpowering the whole thing. The aftertaste is all hops and very little malt backbone. Not just this particular one, but the style in general.

3.5 Bottle from Bottle Jockey bought in January 2015 for $3.50 CAD. Attack: light crisp smooth Mids: bright green alpha hops, resiny barley malt, lvl2-sweetness Finish: residual resiny hops, soft bitter numbing Overall: smooth and balanced for a sub 5%. Easy drinking.

3.6 Can @home. Dorata, brillante, limpida, schiuma bianca abbondante, discretamente persistente. Al naso note agrumate e di resina, citriche, leggermente erbacee. In bocca è amara abbastanza decisa, lunga e persistente. Corpo leggero, carbonazione media. Notevole per una Session IPA, buonissima anche se non al top della freschezza.

3.5 Złocista barwa, średnio mocny gaz, podobnie piana, delikatny smak. Smaczne piwo z gatunku India Pale Ale. Wspomniany delikatny smak, cytrusowy, z mocniejszym goryczkowym posmakiem. Bardzo subtelne piwo, nie inwazyjne ani pod względem smaku ani pod względem alkoholu. Świetnie sprawdza się latem zimne, na ugaszenie pragnienia.

3.7 Lichtgeel troebel bier met schuim wat heel snel wegzakt. Smaak is bitter hoppig en fruitig met iets van ananas en citrus. Fijne bitterheid, goed bier.

3.5 Bernstein, feine Krone. Gut karbonisiert, Pinie, Zitrus. Für ein Session, nice!

3.8 Przyjemne, wyraziste, cytrusowe, z mocną goryczką. Bardzo fajnie zbalansowane. Lekko piekące, ale naprawdę wyraziste i bardzo dobre.

3.7 Can. Beautiful hazy amber. White head. Aroma is herbal, pine. But also malty honey character. A little sweet with pronounced bitterness. Balanced carbonation. Nice!

3.5 Puszka. Jasnozłote, lekko opalizujące. Piana obfita, średnio trwała. Aromat cytrusowy, dużo grejpfruta. W smaku wytrawnie, raczej słodowo z wyraźnymi nutami ziemistymi sugerującymi słód żytni. Goryczka średnio-wysoka, poprawna, ale nie idealna. W kategorii session IPA całkiem pozytywne piwko. Choć mocno nasuwa mi się określenie "poprawne".
