Stone Ruination Double IPA 2.0

Stone Ruination Double IPA 2.0

AZACCA, CITRA, MAGNUM, NUGGET, CENTENNIAL & SIMCOE

Stone Ruination IPA was the first full-time brewed and bottled West Coast double IPA on the planet. As craft beer has evolved over the years, so too have techniques for maximizing hop flavors and aromas. For the second incarnation of our groundbreaking India pale ale, we employed dry hopping and hop bursting to squeeze every last drop of piney, citrusy, tropical essence from the hops that give this beer its incredible character. We’ve also updated the name to reflect the imperial-level intensity that’s evident in every sip. Join us in cheering this, the second stanza in our “Liquid Poem to the Glory of the Hop.”

3.8 Cloudy. Aroma of citrus, tropical fruits, white and yellow fruits, grapfruit, ananas. Not very intensive, sweet. Taste of citrus, tropic, sweet malt with sharp, hoppy, grapefruit ending. medium body, low carbonation. One of the most bitterish beer ever drunk. Old fashioned double IPA. Good job.
3.5 2 finger off-white head. Amazing, fully veiled lacing. Hazy, light orange to light amber coloured beer with murkier, darker orange parts. Aroma of apricot marmalade, grains, orange (pith and all), sliiightly metallic, papaya and mango. Taste of lime, orange marmalade, grapefruit, oats, pineapple, alcohol and a touch of that metallic note in the finish. Mouthfeel is light (and borderline thin) in the general sense but with a medium sized body and oily feel. High bitterness that creeps up on you and lingers for good while. Medium to medium-high carbonation. Slightly sticky. Overall: Charming old-school style DIPA with an almost addictive flavour. Chewy, biscuity and a focus on the really bitter hop varieties in a great balance. Finally got to try this one and honestly didn't expect such a nice beer. Good stuff!
3.5 Szału ni ma. Taki atak chmeluntylko bardziej goryczkowy i bardzo alkoholowy.
Semi-droge afdronk. M: Medium body en medium carbonatie.
3.8 Beer with nice hoppy aroma, dry in taste with very strong bitterness and average carbonation in palate. Almost clear gold colour body with not strong white head. Overall very good beer.
0.9 The one I'm drinking has been brewed in Germany. Orange hazy with a frothy head. Smell of passion fruit, peach and grapefruit with a grainy, milky note, but also this funky rotten fruit note present in some beers of the bigger IPA family. In taste this funky fruit note is even stronger. Not my kind of beer.
4.9 have fallen in love with Ruination after the 1st sip 3 year ago in no longer existing Stone Brewing Berlin (in Marienpark). remains my fav DIPA - full in flavour and rich in smell. never disappoints.
4.0 Had this one from a local craft brew pub here in KL. On the pore its dull orange with a light white head. On the nose its piney & lots of citrus and some hints of tropical juicy fruits. Got a light mouthfeel with constant carbonation. Its hop heavy and nicely bitter. It has a long bitter after-taste which suits me well. Also got a good kick which is surprisingly hidden. Will definitely pick up in future.
3.9 330 ml can from BeerHawk, canned 10/09/2019, bb 09/09/2020. Amber, hazy. Nose - malt, dank citrus, oats. Taste - heavy bitter, long bitter finish. A bit boozy feel. Oily.
4.5 With it's piney aroma upon popping the top, I had I feel it was going to be good. It's wasn't good, it was fabulous. I think this may be my new DIPA. The texture was full and the way the alcohol was disguised was superb giving the fact its relatively high. There were other flavors other reviewers I think described, but I didn't get that. However, it was a great pickup. I did feel pretty relaxed after sipping one for a while and so drinking multiple probably wouldn't be advisable haha. The price was also great for such quality beer. I'd have no qualms about picking up this again in the future. Also, I felt towards the end it was bitter, but it didn't ruin it for me which was a good thing. Do yourself a favor and pick up this one if you're into double IPAs
3.5 A day later rating.. heavy on the sweet hops, a bitter bite on the end. Double IPA goodness.
3.7 A bit woody and slightly herbal on the nose. Malty sweetness with a nice kick of hops. Smooth body with light carbonation and a medium finish.
4.0 355 ml bottle, ABV of 8.5%. Medium to short head. Hazy orange color. The aroma is fruity but not so pungent. Bitter taste and still long follow after finished. medium carbonation.
3.8 Sure it’s bitter, but it’s far more floral and fruity. Like when you do some bad-arse jay walking, but you help an old lady cross the street in the process.
3.7 330ml can, Berlin version. Pours hazy orange with a medium-sized off-white head. Aroma is grapefruit, dank hops, and malt. Taste is heavy bitter, malt, grapefruit, peach, a little big boozey. Long bitter finish.

4.5 14.07.2019 AR: Pfirsich/Katzenpisse, Mango, Harz, Zitrus, Grapefruit AP: klares goldgelb/bernstein TA: Harz, Zitrus, Grapefruit, Karamell
4.2 Van 0,33L. Hazy golden color with small, creamy white head. Aroma of riped tropical fruits. Moderate to heavy bitter taste, supported by touch of tropical fruits and loads of hops. High alcohol level is not exposed too much. Full body, very dry texture, soft carbonation. Another hoppy monster from Stone Brewery.
Uitstekende ipa, heerlijk bitter, goede nasmaak. Mag ook wel voor 8,5%.
4.1 Hazy gold color with a white head and lacing. Hoppy aroma with citrus and pine notes. Well balanced for a double IPA.
4.2 First rated the original variant 10 years ago in 2009. This is not my first time enjoying the "second stanza" of the liquid poem, but I'll admit I didnt realize it was a separate entity at first. 1 pint 6 fluid ounce bottle. Burnt orange appearance with thick tan head. Commendable retention and lacing. Not one of those puny heads that recedes into nothingness. You couldn't ask for a fresher, crisper bouquet of citrus and pine hop aroma. This one is literally bursting with pungent yet luxurious hop fragrance. Top notes of honey, grapefruit and melon rind in the nose. Secondary notes of cane sugar, molasses, caramel and hints of lemon juice. An epic hoppy sipper. Medium mouthfeel, richly textured. As expected, the taste is deeply piney, rind-ey, and bursting with orange, grapefruit and citrus flavors. The 100+ IBUs should be mentioned. Newbies to the genre will commonly complain that it smells or tastes too bitter. But the reality is, the malt balance is extremely well done and a a lot of caramel sweetness is present in the malt backbone which easiy balances out the intense bitterness. Overall an excellent beer and arguably an improvement over the original variant. One of my absolute favorite IPAs, I try to always pick this up when I find it in the wild. If you call yourself a hopheads, you've found the holy grail with this one. Drink more than one at your own risk...
3.6 Very resinous smell, big beer, very bitter and sweet. Good balance and oily mouthfeel. Big and heavy duty double IPA.
3.6 5-8-19 Prev 3.5 Tap @ Ernie’s
3.4 22oz bottle. Hazy golden with a foamy off-white head. Flavors are biscuity cereals, grapefruit zest, pine resin and alcohol with vegetal notes. Medium to full body, moderate carbonation, sticky texture.
