Stone RuinTen Triple IPA

Stone RuinTen Triple IPA

RUINING PALATES SINCE 2002
In June 2012, we celebrated the 10th birthday of our notoriously mega-hopped double IPA, Stone Ruination IPA, with the release of a very special version that was even bigger and, incredibly, even hoppier than the original. If Stone Ruination IPA is “A Liquid Poem to the Glory of the Hop,” then Stone Ruination Tenth Anniversary IPA was an amped-up heavy metal version of that ode delivered with the force of a sledgehammer. Luckily for us, our fans love loud and aggressive brews, specifically when copious amounts of humulus lupulus are involved. The original release of this beer was so instantly beloved by those who dared try it

4.0 Clear, copper color. Medium-sized, off-white head. Pine, malt, and citrus in the aroma. Hoppy taste with a heavy malty background. Strong, hoppy bitterness. Good.
3.5 Clear copper color, medium head. Not as malty as I would like for a triple and a bit west coast hoppy
3.7 Canned April 15th enjoy by August 13th 2022. Pours a clear gold, not much to talk aboot in the foam department. Smells extremely hoppy but with a big malty bite. Citrus, some pine, leans into some tropical fruit but not hugely. Huge Citrus bitterness and the malty sweetness is almost as huge, call it in balance, I reckon. Alcohol is there in spades but it is not hard to deal with. A little bit spicy, earthy, vegetal, short sips are best for me. Sticky, somewhat juicy mouthfeel. Kind of wearing on the palate but I enjoy it.
4.1 Another brew from the singles selection at Mr. T’s here in town. Stone tends to do DIPAs right especially when they are triples. The pour arrives an orange-amber with a nice head of light tan foam that slowly disperses. The nose shows promise for the upcoming taste, fruit, grain, malt and a bit of pine. A drink now, well, this is strong. A good jolt of hops, sweet malt, bread, some caramel and cedar. The sensation is substantial. There just is something about the old style I appreciate.
4.4 Fuck yeah, Stone. True hop vitriol. A giant, pungent, oily slap to the face. Grapefruit, orange marmalade, and dank, caramel and toasted bread, piney, piney bitterness. Can't get Ruination 'round these parts anymore, so I'm stocking up on Ruined Again.
3.6 1. Cask Stillage at GBBF 2013, Kensington Olympia 15/08/2013 Malt and hop aromas. Small white head. Golden coloured strong in alcohol and very hoppy with lots of bitterness in a pine and malt finish. 2. Cask Stillage at GBBF 2014, Kensington Olympia 14/08/2014 Big hop aroma. Golden coloured strong in alcohol and hoppy pine flavour with hints of dryness and bitterness in a crisp full malt finish.
3.6 12oz can. 2022. Pours a slightly reddish amber with a small white head. Aroma is floral, caramel, orange peel, booze, and pine. Taste is caramel, resinous pine, grapefruit, a little orange, and herbal hops. Bitter finish. Somewhat boozy. Medium-full body. Medium carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel.
3.5 12 oz can. Pours a dark amber with pillowy white head. Piney hops smells. Big west coast style bitter hops flavors with some lacquer covering the alcohol. Nothing subtle here. Performs as advertised.
4.2 Almost clear amber color and a nice white head. Lots of hops, bitter and overripe to decaying fruits
4.0 Draft at Atomic Cowboy 7-29-16; previously at 4.5
3.3 22oz bottle consumed 8/20/2017 purchased from Frugal MacDougal in Nashville. Pours a bright orange with a thin head of tight white bubbles. Aroma is sweet, light, citrus, and strong vanilla. Flavor comes together okay but the heavy alcohol kinda swamps everything else going on here. It presents as overly sweet, sticky, and alcoholic. The vanilla is too strong and the orange peel muted. Well crafted, but not particularly enjoyable.
4.0 Been a long time since I drank Ruination but this does remind me of that beer. This is maltier, there's a nice malty toffee aroma to it that was unexpected. Could have been fresher though.
4.1 22oz bomber: This one pours a cloudy darker golden color. Small off white head with minimal lacing. Nice nose. Pine, some citrus and a fair amount of malts. The taste is very good. A pretty good hop bite to it: a bit more than expected. A big malt body, but the sweetness is suppressed. Mainly pine and some citrus hops. Very Nice!
3.1 Vom Fass Stone Brewing Berlin im 2016-08 getrunken. 110 IBU sind ja schon mal eine Ansage, doch die leichten Graphefruitnoten finden sich auch am Gaumen wieder und es ist gut trinkbar.
3.7 February 1st, 2015 - RuinTen has since taken off around San Diego, but I remember back in 2015 it looked novel and new, and somewhat pretty in the glass, where it burns with that characteristic Stone hue, red and blushing and angry looking. The foam kicks up a fearful storm, too, taking up fully half of this pilsener glass (an unwise choice, I know). The aroma is layered with resin and a leather sharpness defines the hop note. There's some grapefruit too and even a dash of dry lime, but the overall impression is of an appreciably dry and hoppy nose. Consistent with the smell, the flavor is dry and hoppy, but there's also a malty body to back it up. I also get the deep savory flavor of miso (as if smeared on a piece of meat prior to grilling). The aftertaste is little short, but reveals the miso glaze flavor bundled with a bitter twang. This ask a slow sipper, but enjoyable over that long time. I should also note that the booze stays relatively hidden, so caution is advised if drinking with excessive speed.
3.8 Aroma of herbal hops, tropical fruits, lemon seeds, and spices. Flavors are similar with a oily resin finish. Strong and yet drinkable. Very good.
4.2 Dark orange color with a white head. The aroma is very citrusy, piney, and floral. The flavor is not very bitter but very smooth and creamy. I’m getting some orange flavored whipped cream, lemons, and pine. Some resin is present. This is unique but nice.
3.9 Amber/Orange with an off-white head. Aroma is citrus, hops, alcohol, mild caramel, vanilla. Taste is strong citrus, piney hoppiness, light alcohol.
3.7 25cl shared at Craffity. Thin white head. Very hazy amber pour. Lovely bitterness. Some alcohol but it is well hidden. Nice brew.
3.7 OnTap hazy deep copper color with a thin fine lasting light beige head. Deep floral citrus hop flavors. Lots of orange and tangerine. Big caramel malt body and a long lingering bitterness. Smooth heavy and good fruity hopness.
4.8 Pours deep golden/amber, with a medium white head and not much lacing. Fantastic aroma of orange peel, vanilla and mango. Tastes quite bitter but very rich and complex, with caramel, ale malts, orange peel, mango, mandarin and strong vanilla. Tasty and easy to drink, besides the over 10% ABV, medium body, smooth, creamy and softly carbonated, bitter finish, with lot of orange peel after taste (and burps, burps are definitely pure orange peel!). Excellency in a bottle!
3.7 Tap at Craffity, Chiang Mai. Poured a hazy medium amber with a short-lived frothy white head. The aroma is malt, big tropical fruit citrus, resin hop, alcohol bitter. The flavour is moderate sweet with a sweet orange peel citrus, woody, resin hop, warm burning alcohol bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.
3.8 November 29, 2013 - with blankboy, gregclow, jercraigs & mabel - bomber. Hazy light amber with a smallish white bubbly head. "Smells like Stone" - resin, floral, sweet yet dry, alcohol for sure - quite a lot of pineapple. Taste follows, but add citrus and citrus zest, strong alcohol. Average body and carbonation, astringent, medium long fruity/bitter finish, never OTT but big enough ... I’d have it again.
4.3 One of my favorites. Slight lack of head retention but other than that, near perfect. Coppery color with caramel and molasses flavor balanced by hop bitterness. Thick and full-bodied.
3.9 22 oz bottle from Wegmans in Short Pump, VA The ale poured a clear amber color with a huge frothy off white head. Some lacing. The aroma of tropical fruit and some sugary notes. The taste is clean with strawberries and citrus bitterness. the ale has a medium body with average carbonation. This is a BIG IPA. Ten percent maybe my outer limits for beer ABV. Despite massive hop flavor, bitterness is smooth, and the alcohol’s deftly hidden. I corked the bottle to drink two days later. The Triple IPA poured a nice foamy head and same great taste. This a quality beer.
3.5 Bottle, thanks for sharing! Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of bitter citrus and grass with some sweet grains underlying. Flavor has creamy sweet grains with sweet citrus with of grains and a bit of sweetness underlying.
4.3 600ml bottle served in a snifter glass. Pours a slightly cloudy orange to amber color forming a medium, creamy and solid beige head with medium retention and lots of molasses lacings formed and left in the glass. Nose of very sweet, fruity and flowery. Strong notes of caramel and pine. Grapefruit and honey. Slightly sweet upfront taste too. Again, Strong notes of caramel and grapefruit. Strong bitterness. Very grassy bittersweet balance. Heavy and molasses body. Medium carbonation. Caramel, grapefruit and pine in the aftertaste. Excellent IIPA. Masterpiece.
4.0 bomber pours cloudy orange with yellowish white head aroma is hops with citrus peel taste is strong hops with grapefruit zest followed by a medium boozy finish.
4.4 650ml bottle. Pours a clear orange colour with a big frothy off-white head. Aroma of resin, pine, fruity, grapefruit, marmalade, malty, caramel, spicy, the taste is exactly all that too. Some sweetness with a lasting bitter finish. Mouthfeel is smooth. Alcohol has a warming feeling but it’s actually fairly well hidden when you consider the ABV. What an awesome brew, really nice.
