Stone Saison

Stone Saison

In spring 2011, Stone bought the farm, literally, taking over 19 acres of fertile Southern California soil where we now grow pristine fruits, vegetables, herbs and more for our Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens restaurants. A taste of our homespun farm-to-tableism is provided in this farmhouse ale stoked with lemon zest, plus lemon thyme and lavender straight from Stone Farms. This spring-to-summer saison is citric and herbal on the palate with a dry, peppery finish. Thanks to the infusion of fresh West Coast ingredients, this isn’t your everyday saison. It’s our saison—100% Stone. Celebrate the sunny season with an authentic taste of our farm and, with it, our commitment to quality.

3.4 Bottle, 355ml. A clear golden beer with a small white head. Floral aroma of citrics, especially lemon, wheat and sugar. Taste is moderately sweet with fizzy carbonation and moderate astringency. Light bodied with a somewhat herbal finish.
3.5 Botle, 355ml. Sparking paleish golden with a large frothy offwhite head. Citrus and yeasty aromas, hints of lemondrop, flowers. Medium bodied with moderate to fizzy carbonation. Low sweetness, with medium sourness and low bitterness. Acidic citrus character into a spicy and acidic finsh. Very drinkable and a spicy twist on the saison.
3.4 A pretty good saison. Aroma has some citrus, yeast, a little bit of funk. Pours a lighter yellow with lots of carbonation. A finger of head throughout the beer. Taste is citrus-forward, with yeast, a little of that farmhouse wildness, and some floral notes on the end. Slightly sweet, an almost creamy effervescence on the tongue.
3.5 On tap @ The Rover, Gbg. Cloudy yellow with a medium white head. Fruty and malty tones. Fruit, malt, spices and hops. Medium body with a balanced finish.
2.3 Bottle from Total Wine. Deep muddy gold pour with a nearly white head. The aroma is a blend of lemon peel, esters, and lavender. The flavor is peppery foremost, mild cracker sweetness behind a blast of spices with hints of hay and dust if one imagines hard enough. But the spices absolutely wreck the beer. At first sip it’s tolerable, but as the beer warms in the glass....yuck. tl;dr summary: Fuck this beer. Next time I’ll just suck on a Ricola.
3.2 Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy bright golden color with a large foamy yellow-white head that lingered but left minimal lacing. The aroma was lemon, lemon zest and a bit of yeast. The flavor was tart lemon, yeast, lime, pepper and a strong bubblegum presence. Medium length finish. Medium body. Pleasant.
3.7 Clear golden color. Small head. Smells spices, honey, wheat. Tastes candy. More spices in the aftertaste (pepper). A little bit heavy for saison.
3.2 Pour hazy golden with a lot of white head. The phenolic charcter is in the aroma, but it’s not too strong. Full-bodied and fun.
3.7 Pours a golden amber color with big fluffy head. Aromas of citrus, grass, yeast, and some dusty notes. Starts spicy effervescent, then to some grassy funky highlights
3.7 On tap at the rover Göteborg. Clear golden with white head. Clean grain, citrus and light herbal. Dry with low bitterness and medium carbonation.
3.6 Pours hazy amber with low white head Aromas funky, herbs, spices Taste has herbal flowery funkyness, hay, wee bit sweet
3.5 Draught. Slightly hazy, yellow with big head. Aroma of citrus, spices (pepper and rosemary) and flowers. In taste more citrusy and peppery. Light body, high carbonation, dry and spicu finish. Good saison.
3.6 Tap at Redhot. Hazy golden color with nice white head. Aroma is citrusy, spicy (rosemary and the likes), herbal. Taste is spicy and herbal again, slight citrus freshness, big-bubbled, but medium carbonation. Some phenols recognizable, not too dry. Lacks that undescribable dirty ruralness. Still a good beer though.
3.0 4oz draft. Hazy yellow with moderate offwhite head. Citrus peel, herbs, flora, grass, mild spice. Kinda blah.
3.4 Lavendel i doften, lavendel i smaken, mycket lavendel. Fin skumkrona som tyvärr dör bort rätt snabbt. Rätt platt och enformig. Dracks i soffan framför Sverige Tjeckien på TV4.
3.0 Draft pour into a pint glass. The beer is a hazed gold with a white head of foam. The aroma has mild spice and earty bitterness. Some soft floral notes, but more a sweet, toffee like character in the taste. Medium body and medium carbonation.
3.2 Tap @ Brewdog, Soho. Hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, spicy and yeasty. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish. 230316
4.0 Bottle from Tomlinson's in Inverness. Golden, straw colour. Some nice barnyard funk on the aroma. Slight tart smell. On the palate there is some of the barnyard taste. Crisp and slight tart too. Smooth texture with some slight spice and black pepper. Overall, a really nice Saison.
3.5 Draft @ LCBF 2015. Pours a clear golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty spicy yeasty aroma. Fruity malty spicy yeasty flavor with weak hints of citrus. Has a fruity malty spicy yeasty finish.
3.3 Bottle from Chevy Chase Wine and Liquors. Nice hazy light yellow body with big head. I was surprised by the color but dipped right in. Nose is grainy, with spices and malts. Taste yeasty with citrus and herbal grassy tastes. Nice warming more peppery finish. Enjoyable.
Kran w Jabeer.
3.8 Aroma: fruits, grass, hops and resin. Taste: fruits, hops and light bitterness. Really drinkable and refreshing. High head, average lacing and medium carbonation.
3.4 Bottle from Trader Joe’s taken camping. Spice and floral like a good season should be. But like most, it’s just okay.
3.5 Kran w Jabeerwocky. jasne, metne, ze slicznam, gesta piana. aromaty glownie owocowe, dojarzalych owocow a la pale ale jakies ladnie nachmielone, ale i belgijskich estrow - sa i cytrusy i brzoskwinie i jakies tropiki i morele... duzo owocowosci. dopiero pod nia troche zbozowej chlebowosci i calkiem delikatne nutki saisonowe, przyprawowe, pieprzowe... w tle tez jakies kwiatowe klimaty. bardzo sympatyczne, lekkie, delikatne piwo. niemalo ciala przy tym. 3.6 On tap at Brewdog Clerkenwell, orange-gold with a very thin head and aromas of light funk, plus hints of orange, mango and pineapple. Dry-bitter and farmy with sweet fruity undertones. Very quaffable and tasty.
4.0 Bottle. Pours golden with a massive sturdy head. Aromas of stone fruits, citrus, clove. Flavors are citrus, clove, stone fruits, black pepper, and crackery biscuity tones. Well hopped with a firm bitterness. Clean mouthfeel. Nicely dry. Very nice.
3.8 Bottle, slightly orange beer, head faded quick. Aroma malty and lemony. Taste malt, honey, lemon, peach, cloves, black pepper. Palate light, carbonation moderate. Finish is spicy. Very nice!
3.3 Fruity with lemon, thyme and other spices. Some earthiness and funk. More hoppy than most. Duh. Light coloring with a nice foamy head. Pleasant.
