Stone Tangerine Express Hazy IPA

Stone Tangerine Express Hazy IPA

This ain’t no just-add-juice approach. This one is for adults. We use bountiful whole tangerine purée, which brings pithy, crisp bitterness to the citrus flavor. In addition to the complexities of the tangerine — the likes of which you can only get by using the whole fruit — we judiciously employ just a hint of whole pineapple for a backnote (you’d likely not even pick it out of the mix if we didn’t tell you it was there). We’re not looking for a sweet concoction to appease the “I want my beer to taste like fruit juice” crowd. This is Stone. We like our IPAs to taste like IPAs. Big, bold and not for kids.

3.5 355ml can - Pours a hazy orange amber colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is apricot, tangerine and toasted malts. A similar taste, sweet toasted malts and tangerine flavours with a grassy citrusy hoppy bitter finish.
3.5 Rocky white head on a hazy amber coloured body. Pineapple & tangerine aroma. Medium bodied, smooth with a lively back. Orange, herbal, pineapple & bitter hoppy tastes. Decent - if you like orange.
3.3 Pours copper, thin head. Aroma is hops with a hint of orange. Malty with bitter tangerine peel and pith, marmalade and dry, biscuity finish.
3.8 Pours murky orange/gold with a lasting thick head. Aroma is tangerine, biscuit malt, grassy, orange marmalade and pine. Medium bodied. Soft carbonation. Taste is biscuit malt up front, medium sweet marmalade and tangerines and some apricot. Finishes with a medium to high bitterness with notes of pine resin, grass and grapefruit peel. Incredibly well balanced and a perfect example of how to add just the right amount of fruit so as to only compliment the beer. Excellent.
3.4 Can only, so little chance to judge color . Maybe a light beer color, or gold, with some marmalade in it. Sweet tangerine smell in just the right note. The Stone IPA taste is still footloose on the palate. Tangerine flavor comes up second, but does not detract. Another fruited beer that still remembers it's a beer first.
3.8 12 oz. can, 6.7% ABV, Packaged Date: 04/06/2022, Best By Date: 08/04/2022 AROMA: Scents of tangerine and hops with a hint of pine resin. APPEARANCE: Pours a slightly-cloudy, amber-orange with a tall, frothy, white head that dissipates slowly with excellent lacing. TASTE: The front-end is ever-so-slightly sweet with flavors of tangerine and pine. The back-end is medium bitter with more of the same flavors. It's a nice experience as the transition from sweet to bitter is smooth, rather than abrupt, like some of the other beers I have tried. MOUTHFEEL: It is medium bodied with a slightly slick texture and a long, bitterish finish. OVERALL: Interesting citrus flavors and not being overly sweet, makes for a nice summer beer! And the moderate ABV level, means you can down a few of these on your porch, without getting completely snockered. All-in-all, I find this to be a refreshing change from the typical grapefruit/lemon IPAs that seem to dominate the summer market. It's a well-crafted beer that I will definitely be buying again.
3.5 12 ounce can at The Winking Lizard In Copley, Ohio. Aromas of tangerine and hops . Hazy yellow with orange tint. Big fluffy white head. Taste the tangerine, a little deeper hop taste. Smooth with a citrus, hoppy aftertaste. Light bodied and easy to drink. Nice hazy. Cheers!
3.7 I had it on tap. It pours a somewhat hazy orange with a white head. The aroma is citrus and hops. The taste is tangerine, pineapple, grain, and hops. It's crisp and refreshing with nice bitterness. This was sessionable and tasty.
3.4 Weirdly this one was clear dark golden. Small head and lively carbonation. Aroma: Citrus pith, tangerine, pineapple, straw and pine. Taste: Bitter with moderate sweetness.
4.1 Can at Lumiere. Bright orange color, hazed, big head. Perfumed. Base is a solid IPA with abundant malts and intense hops juice. Flavorful fruity notes but not excessively "artificial", hops flavors are balanced not covered. Super tasty, good body, savory finish, very well balanced. Very good one.
3.9 The aroma is citrus - tangerine. Pours a cloudy golden/yellow with white head mostly diminishing and excellent lacing. The taste is a medium bitter with a little stinging, very nice. The body is medium, the texture creamy and the carbonation lively. A very nice IPA.
3.7 25 December 2021. Christmas Day Beer Tasting; cheers to Anke, Pieter, Caro & Arne! Can from Geers. Hazy orange, small, foamy, white head; some sediment. Aroma of orange peel, overripe tangerine, mango, pineapple, pine, biscuit. Taste has sweet ripe tangerine, mango & pineapple in a biscuity, slightly peanutty malt body. Bitter, piney hoppy finish with lots of orange peel, quite pithy and dry. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Added flavours often impair 'natural' bitterness but they do well here.
4.0 Riecht stark exotisch fruchtig.
3.7 Can at home. Pours hazy orange color, white head. Aroma of tangerines, orange, apricot. Taste is medium sweet, medium bitter, tangerines, orange, peach.
2.6 Tangerine hoppy aroma with bready malt Pours a hazy chunky orange with small disappearing white head. Strong bitter citrus pith flavor orange and tangerine. Medium bodied with medium co2, lingering bitter finish. Drinkable but pretty bitter for my tastes.
2.4 Smag slet ikke som forventet. Havde forventer mere "frugt" smag. Dog god hvid skum og en bitter eftersmag. Den købes ikke igen.
3.3 Nice citrus hop ipa nothing outstanding very average
3.5 Can. Amber with some haze. Some yeast sediment too. White head. Hops are pine, grass, hay. Not as fruity and tropical as expected. Dry with very prominent tart-/bitterness. Long bitter finish, at times acidic finish. It's decent.
3.6 355ml can from Abeervinum, Rimini, Italy. Pours intense orange, medium hazy, with fine white foam. Aroma is intensely citrus, tropical. Body is average, with carbonation. Taste is markedly bitter, even in the long final.
3.3 Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Yellow colour. Light malty and moderate hoppy aroma. Moderate bitter flavor. Average moderate bitter finish. Oily palate.
3.6 Yeah, like this hoppy finish of stone beers. Faint fruityness, medium body, hoppy finish.
3.3 Can 355 ml. Reddish-gold, hazy. Aroma: citrus, spicy hop pellets, honey sweetness, tangerine, pineapple. Taste: bitter-sweet, spicy, tangerine peel, pineapple little, strong bitterness, too old.
3.4 35cl Blik, als Tangerine Express IPA. Iets troebel goudoranje kleur, witte kraag. Oldskool caramel en harsig aroma, citrus, mandarijn en sinaasappel, niet teveel ananas gelukkig. Smaak is van de klassieke Stone IPA, caramel, hars, bitter, grapefruit en sinaasappel, bittere finish. Medium body. Degelijk.
3.1 Can. Cloudy pale orange featuring a nice but short-lived white head. Aroma of oranges, all kinds of citrus fruits and probably tangerines. Taste of the fruits mentioned above, malts, resin, pine and yes even some pineapple. Kind of spicy with strong Stone-y bitterness. Medium to strong carbonation. Ok but I was expecting even more fruitiness.
3.7 Pours hazy golden with a hint of amber hue, medium top with quite lasting retention. Aroma is strongly citrus and fresh grass, some pineapple aroma and a hint of mango fruityness. Taste is moderately carbonated kick with a strong fruity presence, sweetness from high alcohol presence is exhibited upfront, then makes way to a very strong and dry hoppy finish. A very well balnced beer!
2.5 Pours a hazy darker amber. Fluffy head with decent carbonation. Tangerine aroma, as expected. Bitter tangerine rind taste with malt and light pineapple.
0.5 Horrible!
3.7 Can. Color: Orangish golden, white head. Aroma: Hoppy, fruity. Tangerine and pineapple. Taste: Hoppy, grassy and citrus. Tangerine, tangerine zest and notes of pineapple. Nice bitterness, going from over moderate to medium and finishing with even over medium bitter palate at finish. Nice.
