Stone Totalitarian

Stone Totalitarian

Bespoke Totalitarianism for the Proletariat Disaspora

Built from the backbone of Stone's classic Imperial Russian Stout, Stone Totalitarian Imperial Russian Stout certainly celebrates the hallmarks of the style - it pours jet-black with a fluffy chocolate head and tastes of deeply dark fruit flavors with rich chocolate and coffee overtones. Yet, however old world in nature, this particular rendition of an IRS is flavored with new world hops, intensifying its berry flavors and aroma while subtly introducing a juicy melon undertone. The result is a spectacularly sinful delight. Don't say we didn't warn you, comrade.

1.8 big black fierce eye. No real nose. Also no real head from the tap, disappointing. Taste is one big straight up ass impy stout, no doubt about it. Strong and arrogant fer sher. Rude, but in a civilized manner? Not sher. Mouth coating. Finishes like a good tuff stout.
3.9 The black color with a thick brownish head. Chocolate, coffee, and cocoa aroma with a bittersweet cocoa aftertaste. Full and flavorful body.
4.1 Black pour, brown head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and prune. Taste follows, absolutely delicious, with lots of cocoa. Full, chewy mouthfeel. Fantastic.
3.8 Draft at Federal Taphouse State College. Pours black with a khaki head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Big roasted coffee notes on the nose and tongue. Bone dry on the finish. Hides it’s booze well.
3.8 Typical RIS, pretty much a prototypical example of the style and doesn't venture outside by adding non-traditional stout flavours. Great beer, basically a very scaled up stout. hop cult dresden
4.1 Tap at Craft Room. Earthy and cocoa aroma, chocolate licorice, wonderful. Pitch black color with medium sized brown head. Chocolate and cocoa powder taste, milk chocolate, coffee. Medium body, soft carbonation.
3.5 Dark color, small foam size. Aroma is with coffee notes, taste is the same with coffee bitterness. Not bad.
3.8 On tap at Lunar Brewing Co. dispensed to a snifter showing a black/brown hue, with a finger's width of brownish tan froth, and sheeting spray to the lacing. The nose was malty, roasted, hefty mocha notes, with light woodiness & smoke, and a hint of dark fruit. Medium to full bodied, with modest carbonation, the taste was similar, with decent alcohol presence, and very roasted, earthy, & dry astringency.
3.7 On tap at Craft Room, Opatovina Zagreb. Black, small creamy lasting beige head. Aroma is dark malts, fruit, alcohol. Quite hot. Fruit jam, honey, molasses. Flavour is malty, fruity, chocolate in the back. Spicy alcohol, quite dry, bitterness obvious in the finish. Drinkable except for the alcohol. Lacks complexity, other than that, done by the book. Liked the bitter component. Would love to see it age.
4.4 Classic RIS look, with an opaque black body, brown head, and low carbonation. The aroma was that of chocolate, dark skinned fruit, coffee, and caramel. The taste packed an intense coffee flavor backed by bitter chocolate and toasted grain. The body was dense, but not sticky. The alcohol hit hard, but didn't burn much. Powerful but approachable, this totalitarian was a benevolent dictator.
3.7 355ml bottle. Pours black with a fluffy white head. Coffee, coffee grounds, big plum, blackcurrant, blueberry, bit of toast. Good body, perhaps a touch more carbonation than needed. Good.
4.0 On tap at Craft Room, Zagreb. Black with brownish head. Cocoa, chocolate, roasted, light sweetness, nice roasty bitter finish. Smooth. Medium bodied.
4.4 Draft at Growler USA, courtesy of HuskerTan. Poured black with a tan head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malts, dark chocolate, dark fruits. Taste was medium bittersweet, roast coffee, alcohol, roasted malts, creamy. Nice.
4.6 Draft. A- Chocolate, coffee cake, raisin, glazed donuts. A- Black color, black liquid, tan head. T- Chocolate, chicory, mild soy, cinnamon. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Wow. Had no idea this would be so good. Like a middle of the road between their regular Imperial Stout and the adjunct complex Xocoveza. Hope to be able to see this more often in bottles. Lots of nice complex notes that blend well enough you really have to think to pull out all the individual flavors. Lovely.
3.8 Bottled 355ml. -from Pivoteka Zagreb. Pitch black coloured, medium sized brown head, light roast and chocolate in the nose. Roasted malt, chocolate, light coffee and discreet vanilla with noticable alcohol. Bitter roasty finish. Well done.
4.0 On tap at hopaholic. Black colour small lighhtbrown lacing. Nose is soy sauce. Taste is umami, medium high bitterness. Lingering coffee aftertaste. Long finish medium carbo. Nice.
4.4 Bottle picked up from Hereford Beer House, Friday 1st March at Pickets Lock Campsite, Edmonton warming up a Fish Pie with a Mushy Peas and listening to Iggy Confidential on 6 Music. Pours black with a beige head. Wow this is good, coffee, lots of cappuccino and even a little light caramel. Thick in the mouth, smooth and indulgent. Creamy, yes keep coming back to the coffee, wow this is such a fabulous beer.
4.5 Great look. Great aroma. Great flavor. Great aftertaste. Stone at it's best
4.0 Fľaška zo 100 pív. Vôňa cokoladova. Farba čierna s hnedou penou. Chuť cokoladova a pražené slady sprevádzané kávou.
3.7 355ml bottle from Alko. Smooth, roasty and stingy hoppy with some earthiness, dark chocolate, mocha, hints of espresso and burnt malts. Okay, quite roasty and burnt imperial stout.
3.9 On tap at Taste of Tops. Black with a small tan head. Aroma of dark malt, chocolate, coffee, some fruit and hints of ash. The same in the taste. The body was almost full and the finish quite long. A pleasant one.
3.9 Too dark to see through, dark brown head. I smell strawberry, molasses, dark chocolate and alcohol. Some smoothness and some bite on the palate. There’s a shriek of grapefruit bitterness, cocoa, alcohol and smoke. Dry finish.
3.9 Bottle at salty... Dark black.. Massive tan head... Soft sweet caramel toffee chocolate roast malts nose.. Heavy sweet toffee roast malts.. Dark black roast malts... Heavy chocolate roast malts.. Soft malts.. Soft sweet chocolate roast malts
4.0 C: dark brown N: cocoa powder, milk chocolate, raisins P: sultanas, dates, coffee - african blend, light acidity, lightly nutty, dry and bitter oakiness in the finish.
3.7 Draft from high line. Dark pour. Very roasted. Some bitter chocolate. Pretty good
3.3 Found on tap at Mad Anthony's in Waynesville, NC. Deep dark pour with medium foam. Not much in the way of aroma. Interesting flavor throughout with a boozy feel.
3.7 Pours an opaque, not creamy, brown-black with a beige head that dissipates. Smells of black dark malt, chocolate, coffee beans, a bit ashy/chalky, plum, some blackberry tartness. Taste is dark roasted malt, a bit sharp, light spice and cola, ends on big lasting charcoal-ish bitter note. Body is oily, big, bitter. Big and thick-bodied but balanced by huge black inkiness, almost stony, and a bit of sharp spice. Good! Would get again.
3.7 Bottle from Brewcraft at home after sitting in the fridge for a long time. Opaque pitch black pour with fine dissipating mocha head. Aroma is rich leather, toffee, alcohol, light citrus, some melon, interesting. Taste is very big bitter boozy bite, roasted malt - not so much coffee, a little dark chocolate, then smooth melon and some tropical fruit hops, warm alcohol throughout. Surprisingly light palate. Very solid imperial stout but not that special in a crowded field, especially for the price.
3.8 35,5 cl bottle @ home Aroma has strong cocoa tones and hops. Flavour has cocoa, fruity hops, licorice and hayish tones. Finishes with mild hop bite. Good cocoa-style IS.
3.5 Bottle at home. Pours black, nose is roasted, chocolate, vanilla, taste is toffee, chocolate, quite harsh.
