3.1 Golden-amber body, thin white head, minimal lacing. Freshly toasted bread, soft orange marmalade, a fair bit of grassy hops. Medium bodied, appropriate carbonation, semi-sweet finish.
3.3 Pours a clear amber with a medium off white head. Aroma has light toasty malts and dry leaves. Flavor follows suit...some hints of caramel and tea...earthy and toasty. Mouthfeel is medium/full and the finish is earthy/roasty and lingers to light earthy hoppiness.
2.6 Draft at Good Dog. Slightly hazy dark gold pour with some light foam on top. Burnt whole wheat toast, caramel and orange peels. Palate is juicy but too thin. Drinkable.
3.2 Pour is a hazy tan with a small tan head. Aroma is slightly malty and kinda thin. Flavor is better with a nice roasted nut and decent caramel malt. Finish is malty and bready. Did not start off too well with this one but after taking a few sips it grew on me and turned out to be a decent marzen.
3.8 a malt note in the nose, not over assertive. nice color and clarity, good head. good malt flavor but, again, not out of balance. little hop bitterness. clean finish. seems like a slightly modest version of the style. a good lighter version of a fest beer.
3.0 On tap at Stoudt’s Restaurant. Pale amber color, thin head that dissipates quickly. Interesting nose - yeast and fresh bread with some fruitiness. Body is a little light for an Octoberfest, and overall it is light on flavor. A ’mature", older style fest.
2.7 Draft at Smiling Chameleon. Pours brown with an inch of white head. Slight malt notes on the nose. A bit of caramel on the tongue. Maybe this keg has been sitting around too long but it has an almost buttery finish to it. Meh!
4.3 Stoudts Oktober Fest has a thick, fluffy, off-white head, heavy, splotchy lacing, and a hazy, copper appearance with some streaming bubbles and a lot of suspended, tiny, white particles floating throughout. The aroma is sweet, toasty, bready, and caramel. Taste is similar, with even some hint of citrus in there. The hop bitterness is mild, but it does have enough presence to balance out the beer. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Stoudts Oktober Fest finishes dry, mellow, drinkable, and delicious. This is a wonderful beer, and I highly recommend it! RJT
3.9 12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 2/8/2013. Pours lightly hazy golden amber color with a nice 1-2 finger fairly dense white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty foamy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of caramel, pear, apple, bread, toast, toffee, floral, light citrus, and herbal hops. Very nice aromas with good balance, strength, and complexity. Taste of caramel, toast, bread, pear, apple, toffee, floral, light pepper, and herbal hops. No bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, light fruits, toast, toffee, bread, floral, and herbal hops on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance of malty flavors that are fairly robust; with zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Oktoberfest. Nice balance of fairly robust malty flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering; and nice example of the style as well.
2.5 12oz to mini-dimple. Lively soda like carbonation. Head dissapears immediately. Light orangey amber. A bit bland. Could definitely throw back a few liters.
2.7 Pours a clear orange amber with a medium off white head. Aroma and Taste is of sweet lightly toasted barley. malt, yeast, light fruity notes with a bit of grassy notes.. Palate is a medium body with mild carbonation. Finish is sweet malt, yeast lightly toasted barley and grassy notes with some mild bitterness. Flavor and aroma are a bit weak. Overall an ok brew.
2.8 Bottle. Mostly clear amber pour with a small white head. Thinner palate. Light biscuit and caramel. Just okay.
3.5 Bottle--nice example of the style. Gold color with a small head and some lacing. Malt aroma with a touch of biscuit. The biscuit dominates more in the taste with sweetness in the malt. I miss Stoudts at our local store. Bruisin Ales 2.00.
3.5 ive only had a handful of stuff from Stoudts, but what ive had has all been above par. this is solid an example of a Ofest beer as any from europe like Spaten or HS. biscuit-y, dry, some background toffee and butter notes, clean only slightly oily finish. very nice.
3.2 No bottling information. Appearance: The body is a bit lighter hued than most oktoberfests I’ve seen, this being a light and clear amber with no carbonation present in the body. The head is thin and tan with some lacing as it slowly dissipates. Aroma: The aroma is really lacking, light malt sweetness and light hop presence, but rather bland. Taste: This is rather unremarkable, lightly sweet malts, light toasted flavors, and light floral hops on the finish. It’s not bad, but it’s forgettable. Palate: Medium bodied with light amounts of lightly sharp carbonation. Overall: Mediocre at best, this is good but nothing that stands out. I’ll pass next year.
2.6 Copper pour with thick white head. Malt nose. Taste is same with a small hop note.
3.2 12 oz. bottle from Table & Vine. No best by or born on date anywhere. Aromas showing me light caramel and lager yeast with a touch of spice. Taste is Lightly sweet malts, a tad of biscuit with a very subtle hop toward the end of sip. Carbonation is about average leaving a sticky texture on your tongue. Body is on the light side but it has a bit more flavor then I was expecting. You could make this a session brew if you so desired. Worth a try if you drink this style.
3.7 Pours a clear gold with a thin, white head that quickly fades. Aroma is strong of malts. Smooth, light mouthfeel. Taste is slightly happier than the aroma suggests. Decen representative of the style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for the Daystrom M-5
2.7 The pour is amber with a thin white head that leaves moderate lacing. The aroma is of sweet malt. The taste begins with the sweet malt but finishes rather dry and uninteresting. This beer screams average in every sense of the word. It’s pretty well balanced and drinkable but falls well short of extraordinary. Forgettable.
3.1 Malty aroma with some hop bitterness. Cereal notes on the palate - a bit on the thin side.
2.8 Malty aroma with large noticeable carbonation upon pour..mouthfeel has a bit of spice, but mostly thin with not much going on here, not a big fan of this style offering
3.1 12oz bottle from Pinocchio’s. Pours a clear, light amber color with a white head. Aroma is light, cereal, a little floral hops. Medium on the palate with average carbonation. Flavor is sweet, malty, bread, cereal, toffee, with a sweet, cereal finish.
3.3 Bottle. Pours a clear golden orange with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of biscuit with additional notes of sweet grains and breads. Flavor has a good amount of sweet grains with a bit of crispness and a hint of sweet biscuit.
2.9 Bottle. Nice amber color. Some head. Aroma is of bread, very slight caramel. Taste is malty with some balance.
3.5 Pint on tap, and 12 oz bottle. Clear orange-amber with a lasting disc of foam. Aromas of sweet dry grass, caramel malt and light citrus. Tastes of toffee, toast, and sweet orange, balanced by a lightly crisp dry-grassy finish. Medium body is smooth and well balanced. Nice sessioner that’s true to style.
3.7 Originally reviewed: 10/21/10. Another festbier on my list for this autumn. I’ve wanted to try this one for awhile. 12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a much lighter than expected, pale orange. A thin off-white head rests atop. Leaves some light lace behind. There’s not much to the nose of this beer. Some faint grain and malts. Nothing stands out. Good moderately full body. Given the low ABV, I’m surprised at how "heavy" this feels. This is really a secretly-full beer. Great beer that’s full of flavor. Lots of tasty breadiness finished with a kiss of sweetness. Nice grainy aftertaste. This really is one of my favorite of the season. Great flavor, excellent drinkability. Just tweak the nose a bit, and this is stellar.
2.7 12 oz bottle pours amber with a off white head. Aroma is malts. Taste is malts, spice and a touch of bitterness
3.4 Pours a brownish/orange color. Smell is mild, some malts. Taste is a bit malty, just a touch of hops present. Easy drinking and a pretty good beer.
3.6 amber hue, foamy head with gobs of retention. bubbling carbonation. Nose is clean if not malty, taste is sweet, bready and finishes with light grass and flower. More balanced than many Marzens I’ve had. drinkable. A much fuller body than many marzens I’ve tried this year. Nice!!
3.0 12 ounce bottle thanks to dan. Pours a clear copper\orange color with a medium white head. A sweet dusty malt nose. A nice flavor of ripe fruit, grains, some light lemon. Easygoing.
