Stoudts Triple

Stoudts Triple

A strong, full-bodied Belgian Abbey-style beer. The traditional yeast strain that is used imparts a rich array of spicy and fruit-like flavors. The prominent clove and melon notes are complemented by the sweetness and alcoholic warmth of the beer. The appealing color of glowing orange makes this brew irresistible.

3.8 From BA review on 1-29-12 - Had on tap served in tulip shaped glass Appearance – Pours a haze orange/golden color with a nice white head. The head fades slowly giving away to the very slightest bit of lacing. Smell – Yeasty and sweet are the first detected; yeast cake and sweet fruits of orange and a bit of tropical mango and some banana are present. Then a bit of bready maltiness works its way through the aroma, with the whole aroma rounded out by a light alcohol/boozy aroma. Taste – The taste is very similar to the smell only in a different order. As opposed to the aroma, the first taste detected was a bit more breadiness with some biscuit flavor. The yeasty flavor, present throughout, stays while the bread flavor fades giving way to a sweeter taste profile of mango, orange and banana. Like the smell however the whole taste experience finishes with a nice mild alcohol flavor rounding it all out. Mouthfeel – A nice creamy body with a good level of carbonation. A good slow drinking/sipping beer; perfectly matched to its alcohol content. Overall – While not the best Belgian triple I have ever had, very enjoyable none the less. Nothing stands out, but nothing brings it down; overall moderately balanced.
3.2 Not overly impressed with this one, head was on the weak side, light aroma and taste. I compare all tripels to Karmaliet, so it’s in some tough company. Decent but not outstanding.
3.3 Golden yellow-orange with small white head. Aroma yeast, citrus, malt. Medium full body, lightly carbonated, minimal alcohol. Flavor yeasty bread, grass, faint orange/lemon. Not sure this is the best example of a tripel but as a beer works pretty well anyway.
3.6 Bottle from craft ale house. Pours clear orange with a medium sized white head that dissipates rather quickly. The aroma has banana, bready notes. The taste is fairly dry, banana, clove.
3.6 Bottle. Poured a clear golden orange color with a small slightly foamy white head. Aroma is nice light hops, some malts, and alcohol with some sweet sugar character here. Flavor was alcohol, booze, sweet cereal notes - yeast. Enjoyable.
3.7 Bottle from my friend Gail. Thanks!! 12oz bottle poured into my tulip. Nice hazy golden light brown pour. One finger fizzy head. Some lacing throughout. Aroma of Belgian yeasts, bread, cereal, spices such as cloves and fruits. Taste is similar. You get the Belgian style yeasts, cloves, some light fruits, cereal and bread basket. A rather dry, bitter finish of hops. Lingering tingle on the tongue. Refreshing. Medium light body, medium heavy carbonation. Overall a very nice triple.
3.7 Bottle--hazy orange with a small white head. Soft aroma of cloves, orange and some banana. Taste is yeasty with fruit. Finish is dry with bitterness. Nice. I wish more Stoudts were distributed in FLA. total wine.
3.9 citrus aromaherbs, earthy, golden, cloudy, minimal head, heavy cloying sweetness, full body, creamy, long finish,
3.5 from a 12 oz bottle shared at home. pours a hazy orange with a white head. Flavors of orange with hints of caramel. highly carbonated mouthfeel. nice tripel.
4.1 Cloudy yellow orange with a thin white head. Bright, spicy aroma of cloves, orange peel, with a touch of banana and alcohol. Flavor follows suit, adding some bubblegum notes. Long, dry, slightly bitter finish. Not as sweet as some American-made Tripels. Really enjoyed this one!
3.6 Medium hazy orange with a lasting white head. Aroma is very fruity, bright fruits, sweet, light yeast. Medium to full body. Flavor is fruity, spice, yeast, sweet, light clove. Flavor is much more enjoyable than the aroma. Nice beer.
2.9 Clear light golden body, medium white head, soapy lacing. Cloying fruitiness, estery. More unbalanced and one-dimensional flavor. Medium bodied, gentle carbonation, chalky, and cloying.
3.1 Bottle. Pours an orange-copper color with a very small white head. Nose has just a little bit of sweetness and a bit of spice to it. Taste has a bit more sweetness to it and some of the spice.
3.9 1 yr aged bottle pour..golden color..bottle conditioning evident as one can see yeast/sediment action at bottom of bottle..slight head..fairly carbonated..a little hazy and cloudy..tried to keep sediment in bottle..nose of clove..spice..Banana..typical belgian taste profile..warming and strong on finish..quite nice..one of better american produced versions of the style..reminds me a lot of aged bottle of la fin du monde..just not as complex..very enjoyable however and worth cellaring to allow things to get more interesting..
2.7 Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle with bird on the shoulder of a monk poured into a trappist glass. Pours clear pale golden with small white head, little lacing, very little carbonation, and light clove aroma. Taste is stale clove, hints of fruit, grainy yeast, some alcohol, and slightly bitter finish. Expected more, really not comparable to the other triples I have had lately.
3.9 Nice little surprised I packed away for the doldrums of Central American beer. It definitely lived up to expectations. Smells floral with some sweet malt. Pours cloudy orage with good head and lacing - even in this hostel coffee cup Im drinking it in. Taste has light sourness and sweetness. Some boozy bitterness as well. Bottle from village beer merchant.
4.4 Stoudts Triple has a medium, fizzy, white head, minimal lacing, and an opaque, orange appearance, with lots of floating gray matter. The aroma is of sweet bread, fruit cake, figs, and dates, and the flavor is the same, with a back-end bitterness and an underlying alcohol note. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy, and Stoudts Triple finishes mostly dry, refreshing, and highly drinkable. Overall, this would be an outstanding beer to have early in the morning with eggs, bacon, grits, toast, and a biscuit. Overall, I think it’s an absolutely lovely beer! RJT
3.4 Well-rounded tripel that has some high notes in the nose and the taste. Certainly improves with cellaring.
3.6 12oz bottle - pours watered down honey with white head and thin lacing. Nose is yeast and spicy. Flavor adds hay, alcohol and cereal. Sweet. Light to medium body. Light for the style but aromatic. Citrus aftertaste. Comparable to Ommegang’s Hennepin.
3.6 Cloudy orange yellow color with thin white lacing. Banana and tangerine esters. Full bodied with bubble gum and coriander notes.
3.6 12oz bottle from Pinocchio’s. Pours a crystal clear, bright yellow-amber color With a thin white head. Aroma is yeasty, clove, a little banana. A little heavy on the palate with soft carbonation. Flavor is sweet, yeasty, clove, bread, a little boozy, with a light, yeasty finish. A decent American tripel.
3.5 12oz bottle. Hazy orange - yellow color. Bubbles on the side of the glass. Thin fizzy slightly off-white head, fades to minimal. Nice aroma - banana, plenty spice and esters. Little loose dots of lace. Soft, bright lighter carbonation. Spicy taste, some zest. Very little alcohol warmth, but it’s welcomed. Vanilla. Clove. Yeasty. Light pepper. Ginger? Solid and interesting tripel. I’d say it’s up there with Victory’s Golden Monkey, as far as Midwestern Tripels.
3.3 Bottle. Pours Pours a near clear gold with a bit of sediment and a white head that lasts throughout the beer and laces slightly. Aroma has a good amount of sweetness with notes of fruit, cookies and grain and just a hint of spice. Flavor has sweet grains up front with a slight grassy and floral note. The finish has a bit of booze with a light spice note.
3.5 Nice warm feeling from the high alcohol content with a slightly carbonated mothfeel. Altogether nice beer. Citrus, banana, alcohol, hay
3.6 Thin, sweet palate, orange spice aroma, heavy lacing, cloudy orange pour, nice flavor. (Should have had this first, and not the double IPA). Worth trying, though.
3.7 Aroma is spices, bubblegum/bananas and a hint of fruit. The flavor is bananas/bubblegum, malts and a tart fruit finish.
3.3 Cloudy yellow thin head. Banana and vanilla aroma. Mango peach pineapple in the taste. Nice beer a little wheat in the end.
3.6 Always good to try another Stoudts brew. Thanks Chipalsa. Aroma is light honey, some nutmeg, sweet tropical fruit, and some yeast. Taste is nice with papaya, sweet honey, yeast/spices and some more sweetness. Body was orange and clouded with yeast. Nice overall, almost like a dessert beer, as it was rather sweet.
3.6 Bottle Appearance - Deep orange, cloudy Aroma - Lemon zest, fresh bread, butter Taste - Light hops, clove, vanilla, nutty, bitter Simply put - another fine job by Stoudts, they recreated the aroma of a true Belgian quite nicely. Flavors of clove are rich, and almost on it’s way to a heavy Hefeweizen... but the bitter finish makes for a clean and filling beer.
3.5 The aroma is spot on to traditional Belgium triples full of fruity notes. The look is of a murky orange with a very thin white head. The taste isn’t quite as good as I was expecting. It’s pretty close to form for Triple’s but seems to be lacking something. The alcohol also stands out to me on the back end. Don’t get me wrong, it’s tasty and a solid brew but I’ve had better.
